5 years late. But necessary. I read it to relate, and prayed that God do what he needs to do. I am no judge but evil is plain as day these days. And we should want it to end. It doesn’t mean you don’t have to pray for your enemies.
If you don’t pray for them, they will continue to be plagued by sin

Thank you for that teaching. I’ve never heard of the word imprecatory before. Your explanation was very clear and helpful. Your words were challenging, especially as regards the desire of our flesh to judge others. Blessings upon your ministry.

Thank you so much for this awesome explanation. God has called me to walk through the Psalms one by one and share on TH-cam, and today is Psalm 35. I needed to understand the heart of the Psalm before I could properly share it myself

Very good message, I too used to believe we really ought to pray for even those who hate us ,we are not being good Christians by not doing that until I came across Jeremiah 7:16 ,'Pray not for these people, pray not for their good...'
I was praying for Salvation for a particular enemy, when God impressed upon me ,do not pray for them...and I just couldn't anymore...
Then later, reading the Bible I came across this verse. I was astonished.
So David is correct in asking for judgment on his enemies because tree things Gid delights in is...Lovingkindness,Judgement and Righteousness.

I respectfully disagree. I think that we should always pray for justice to be served upon people as they deserve in this world. If someone steals, kills, abuses, ect... But we should also pray that maybe that experience of judgement be it jail time could lead them to Christ. There are many people in jail that find Christ!😊
And for people who hate us, we should also pray for. And even our rulers with whom we disagree. And even those who oppress us. We should not pray that they have peace, since the wicked do not know peace according to scripture. But we should humbly pray for God to save their souls. We should pray that they find Christ and that God shows them the error of their ways. We should not wish unjust harm on them for the sake of vengeance. Vengeance is the Lord's to decide but we should love our enemies. We need to "pray for those who despitefully use us" -luke 6:28.
That doesn't mean we need to associate with those we abuse us, but we should pray for them.
Examples of this is when Jesus was litterally being crucified, He prayed for those who crucified Him. He asked God to forgive them. We are followers of Christ and are to imitate Him. Also Stephen prayed that God would not lay the charge on those that were STONING him. And God heard his prayer and Paul was saved. None of us have experienced what they have, yet we are so quick to cast contempt and hate on people. I myself have... And I feel horrible. I realize that God forgave me of so much(my 10,000 talents) and I need to forgive my fellow brethren of their 100 pence. I realize that what people could do to me is nothing compared to what my sins did to Jesus on that cross. We also need to remember that before Christ we were probably just like those who hate us, but by Christ's transforming love we are forgiven and saved. We need to remember that what Christ did for us, He can also do for others. People were once adulterous, hateful, prideful, bitter, clubbers, drunkerds, haters of God, yet when they found Christ they were transformed into new creatures where all things were past and all things were made new.
We need to see others as Christ sees them. Not who they are now but who they COULD be by the saving Grace of Christ.
      I hope that helps!😊💙

      I disagree.
We received grace through Jesus. So we should show others grace too.
We should not forget that the old testament was written when people was living under the law. "an eye for eye".
      We now live under grace.
And David's prayers were honest prayers from how he feels

    Love, love Calvary Ontario! ❤🎉
My Heart is sore, I was a hospice nurse in Covid and a patient’s daughter agreed to place false witness against me, saying I withheld services they didn’t legally qualify for causing limitation on my nursing license by the state.
I forgive them and don’t curse them but I meant all the rest. 😂
I want their every action against me reversed, bond on earth as it is in heaven!

I feel like David's Psalms were and example of how his heart was feeling in desperation because of his oppression from his enamies. I feel like God wanted us to know his anguish. But ultimately I believe that David new we should pray for our enamies and forgive them. Just a thought.
    God bless💗

26:35mins. What is "righteous indignation"? You hear the term pretty often but nobody explains what it is. Thx.

    • @PastorPaulLeBoutillier
      @PastorPaulLeBoutillier 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

Well to be indignant is "feeling or showing anger or annoyance at what is perceived as unfair treatment." However, most of the time our indignant feelings stem from our self-centered or irrational ideas. Righteous indignation, therefore, would be a feeling of indignation that is NOT rooted in our sinful nature, but is in keeping with the Lord's own heart.

we are not allowed to curse our enemies.. but you can imprecate for God's enemies.. David cure to the ungodly who are not only his enemies, but the enemies of God as well.. which mean you are not to cures who steal your money or who hit your face in the fight.. but we are to deliver some people whose heart are impenitent.. I believe either you can curse or bless to the person whom we deliver Satan.. cursing of God's enemy is not sin.. but cursing on your own is sin.. Christians are not to bless demons bcos demons are God's enemies🤣

Can this psalm being related to john 8 for the adoulterous woman. ? The pharasies did not have any concern about the woman but just to have something against jesus they used her case with the wrong motives. No one has seen her or at least to stone someone to death the one who were eyewitnes at least should through the first stone or to have both of them. None of this was possible. All the case was sth set up against her to make her fall.
To me psalm 35 looks like the prayer that that woman would have in that moment.
