    My family was Jehovah’s Witness (mom still is). When I was little my older sister was getting married in a ceremony of a different denomination of Christianity. My parents didn’t go, and thusly I didn’t get to go. This hurt my sister so much. I didn’t even know my sister had a wedding until I was a teenager. I’m still mad to this day that my parents missed their daughter’s wedding because of religious differences.

    Honestly its alot harder to keep track of who you are related to when you are polygamous and thats been the main reason the polygamy has been banned; to prevent incest. Cause even if they say its okay to marry second cousins its alot harder to track and pace half siblings and half first cousins after 2 generations. The death rate doesnt justify polygamy now as well.

    I agree with what you said about the LDS church. I’m a member of the mainstream LDS church. It’s odd to me that we’re almost “afraid” of it. When it was abolished Joseph Fielding Smith said something like, The doctrine on polygamy hasn’t changed, it’s our practice of it that has. We had prophets in our church practicing polygamy till the mid 1900’s. It’s true that no more marriages were performed, but those already in it weren’t expected to abandon their marriages.
    On a side note, my great grandfather and his brother became polygamist in 1930 and were some of the founding members of the FLDS. So there’s a chance we’re related. 😂 My great grandfather is Edmund Francis Barlow and his brother is John Yeates Barlow.

    Some of the older kids have spoken out off the show about Meri being too harsh as a babysitter when they were little. So that might explain why no one had Meri babysitting their kids anymore by season 8. It’s never been clear why Robyn and Christine didn’t watch each other’s kids too much except that maybe the adults were all filming at the same time in their fancy reality show life.

    • @LivetolearnMama
      @LivetolearnMama 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      My guess is that Christine saw herself as the stay-at-home mom, and Robyn also having that same identity was threatening. If you view yourself as having worth for a certain reason, and then somebody who's new and shiny comes in filling that same role, it can't feel good. Christine never seemed to try to prevent her kids from having a relationship with Robyn, but she wasn't over there trying to make it happen either.

    • @krissywizzle
      @krissywizzle 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LivetolearnMamaBut that doesn't seem to have been the case. Like they said, in the earlier seasons when they were still doing the couch interviews all together Christine brought up at least a couple times that she didnt understand why Robyn didnt have her watch her children but instead had a nanny and how it actually hurt her feelings, and Robyn seemed annoyed. To me it always felt like Robyn was keeping her kids separated from the other moms/kids intentionally, or at least not integrating them in the same way as everyone else. It never made sense to me either when I was watching it, and I didnt get the sense that it was because of a lack of want on Christine's part, but more of a need to keep control on Robyn's part.

    I'm from Ogden and attended USU. In Logan I lived in dorm style housing. Half my apartment complex was an entire ward. It was a whole new ward each fall. Apartments were grouped together to form families away from home and activities were planned to encourage getting to know each other. In Ogden, a majority of young single adults are still living at home or off campus housing. Most people already have friends and family around. There are a lot more people in their later 20's who are establishing careers. Wards don't shut down in the Spring and start over in the fall. Just a whole different culture. I didn't really like the YSA wards in Ogden but I wasn't interested in being all alone in an unfamiliar residential ward either.

    I really dislike how people bring up Robyn not using Christine as a babysitter. Christine has mentioned how she put Janelles kids before her own and she was never really happy with Robyn being in the family. I wouldn’t have wanted a sister wive like that to watch my kids either.

    • @kristinesharp6286
      @kristinesharp6286 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The lack of shared parenting is why the family never was unified. Truely very sick. Meri sat Kody and Leon down and said Kody isn’t driving Leon to college, Kody has to be with Truely. If they shared the kids then Robyn would have sat her kids and Kody down and said Kody would not be here for a few weeks since Ysabel was in pain for years and finally getting the surgery. Kody was with Sol more when he was sick. Remember the people who came to their home to study how the family worked? How he spent most time with Sol and older boys and said he was not a girl dad? Robyn said on that just looks like that cause he has been ill. If Robyn thought the other kids were hers they would never have been estranged. Of course our sons have to work. Our nanny has to come here and work.

      They had 5 in diapers at the same time. Then the twins before they added aurora to make triplets were days apart. Her kids would be able to do for themselves at a younger age.

      @@g.flesch9731 no Robyn put her kids before the other kids. As Kody was happy to do so as well. Robyn didn’t feel like mom to the other kids nor did she act like it. She wasn’t making them pjs. She was not creating adjectives to describe them out of the letters of their names. Robyn wanted to control her kids. That is why she had her family or strangers watch them. She could not really tell the sister wives with more rank not to correct her kids. Garrison got in trouble for telling Sol don’t hit. He was 2. It is what his older siblings would have said to him. He was yelled at. Janelle told him to drop it. Maddie went on how it seemed they did all the changing but the other kids didn’t seem to have to. I don’t blame anyone for not wanting 3 other people in authority of their kids. But that is polygamy is illegal and immoral. You know who really didn’t want several strangers having authority of their kids. The kids dad.

    Honest question: Does the LDS church have to be hard on polygamy when it’s openly communicated in their church to keep their tax exemption since it is illegal to be polygamous? I wonder if that’s maybe why they don’t care when polygamous members are “hush hush” in their church but then feel like they have to publicly denounce it by ex-communicating those members once the polygamy is publicly admitted to? Is the LDS church trying to avoid government problems?
