Interesting stitch. I've learned this method before but I believe it was called a Raised Treble Rib (UK) / Raised Double Rib (US). It wasn't until right at the end of the video that I clocked on though, haha! The thing that gets a little tricky for beginners to get into crochet is just how many name variants there are for the same stitch. Ah well; no harm in learning twice! Beautiful tutorial Ashleigh, thanks!
I have used this stitch in the past and it is a favorite of mine. I need to use a bulky yarn next time I make a blanket. It really shows off the stitch.
That's great, thank you. I am used to doing a front-post, back-post ribbing and I was wondering what it would look like if I alternated them instead of lining up. Now I know! Can't wait to use this stitch :-)
Thanks, I needed to refresh my memory. I haven't used this stitch in a while. I'm about to make a rug for my son's room using very chunky yarn gauage 6. P hook once it comes in the mail. I decided to crochet him a rug because it needs to be washed often. He's very messy. So, something he can wash himself is great. Barnet blanket in grey. I wanted something more masculine than the stitch pattern I used for the bathroom rugs, they turned out great and encouraged me to start my next project. I have several planned. Thank you for posting this.
Of course this stitch looks difficult & yet itz not it is super beautiful thank you for your time and energy to show me how to achieve such a conversation stitch im gonna do it @ a gift 2 my daughter co-worker I'll try 2 send pic
I kinda agree with Sarah miller below. The stitch at 0:01 looks like Bean stitch and as the video gets going it looks like it switches to mini basket weave. I have worked both stitches myself and they do look different From each other...I don't know. I love the look of this blanket but I cringe at the thought of the cost of 12 bonus bundles. Maybe a triple stranded inexpensive worsted weight like fishermens wool would be more practical, usable and cost effective. Unless you are working up a purposeful heavy weight therapy blanket then you will want the heaviest yarn. I must say Sewrella does a great job speaking through her tutorials. Many vid creators make me literally scream with the so slow presentations but not hers. Thanks for the momentary diversion.
Hi. I’m still pretty new on crocheting... can you please create a tutorial how you’ll add another ball of yarn to your project? Especially when you are doing a double crochet. When exactly do you add the new yarn there? Please and thank you!
I’ve been practicing this NOW and in my mind it could be a scarf. It DOES eat a lot of yarn though but I still love it! You made a blanket with this stitch???
Thank you again Sewrella, I made my first swatch using a Super Bulky #6 weight yarn yesterday in natural almond color, it was Big Twist yarn from Joann's. I'm still working on my ends and will tear it out and keep practicing but I love the stitch and the pattern it makes. I want to make the blanket you have on your site, it is gorgeous. Is that yarn at #5 or a #6? You mentioned you used two strands to make it, so I'm wondering and I love the color of your blanket on your Blog and in the beginning of this tutorial. Your tutorials are just the right pace and you explain everything and "show" everything so well.
Thanks a billion, I love your tutorial, I am going to make a baby blanket out of this stitch. i am using multi color pink/blue/yellow/turquoise/white and solid white, yellow and turquoise between rolls. i will try & send you a picture of it once completed on your facebook orblog page.
just curious...we're renovating our kitchen and I love the countertop you're working on. Do you know if it's marble or quartzite or something else and what the name of the stone is? I know this isn't a crochet question but I'd love to know. Thanks!
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to keep your finished project from fuzzing up so much/so fast? I use red heart and I love this yarn but even those fuzz up so much.
I tried to look very closely at the first double crochet after chaining two and it looks like you're putting it in the same stitch as the one that the chains are standing in for the first double crochet. It is hard to see the work using a dark color yarn. Ripped out my work and then had no problem.
I love the completed gray blanket. I wish you would have done the sample with the same yarn and hook. The cranberry yarn sample just does not look like the original blanket.
Cary Branthwaite you can use any color you want when you make the blanket. This is just a tutorial for the stitch, and it’s not required to use cranberry.
per her tutorial just use a even number so add chains until you get your length just dc in 3rd stitch. hope this helps you wow just read this msg 2 months ago
You can count for every 10 chains for example , until you get the length you want then add 3 chains. It is easier if you use stitch counter or mark every 10 chains with stitch marker, pin or paper clip.
Wish you’d do this with lighter colored yarn , so could follow along better, since I’ve never done post stitches. And put camera closer to your yarn if you would 😬 please
I'm noticing you use the end of your skein that doesn't come from the middle in your videos. Do you know that you can pull out a small chunk from the middle of the skein and get the end from the middle so it doesn't flop around as it unravels?
Salina Enns I'm sure she does but some of us - myself included - prefer to pull from the outside instead of the inside. Yarn barf is more prevalent when pulling from the center, both from finding the center and when the skein collapses in on itself. I've done center pull with cakes but I MUCH prefer pulling from the outside.
vegangelist ok I was just mentioning it. I find pulling from the middle way easier because it never gets tangled and the skein doesn't flop around as it unravels. My yarn always gets tangled when I pull the outside end. I usually use a while skein with whatever I'm doing anyways, or I keep it in a bag so I don't care if it collapses on itself.
Salina Enns yes, I understand. as with all things crochet, it seems we each have these preferences these "sides that we choose." #teamcenterpull or #teamouterpull #knifehold or #pencilgrip and so much more :)
How do you stand all the complaints? People need to value your time instead of acting so snippy. You are not charging for your service ,time and effort. Sheeesh!
watchgoose of course people are free to voice opinions, it it’s still rude af. Just because free speech is legal doesn’t mean people shouldn’t have common decency and being entitled whiny brats is okay. It’s also cowardly because you know nobody would say these things to anyone’s face.
This is a little deceptive ... as the swatch at the beginning is photographed with the swatch laying at a 45 degree (diagonal) angle!! It is not laying along the edge as it is crocheted. If you watch closely at the .06 time mark when it is folded over you can see it would look much different if held along the straight edge! I was really excited to see how to do the diagonal stitch pattern but that is not what this is.
Sarah Miller the color she used had the effect of making the stitch look different. But it's the same stitch. I have used this stitch on my projects. I sometimes forget and need refreshers.
It can look different if you use a bigger hook for the yarn too. I love both the tighter look and the looser, holey look. It’s a beautiful stitch, just as the regular basketweave is. It’s the same thing, just a different number of stitches per “weave.” Alternating every one instead of every 3-4 or more.

@DarkMoonDroid on her blog she said she doubled up on the strads when she made her blanket so it looked different. I was hoping there was a video of her using 2 stands for this too...
OMG, your logic is exactly as mine.... love it! I look at a pattern and make sense of it and then there's no guessing or counting. GREAT JOB!!!
Thank you for taking the time to make this tutorial, it's much appreciated.
Your tutorial was perfect! Exactly what I needed! I am absolutely making a blanket like this next!

I made 4 rugs using this stitch and they came out great. Trying to post a picture of my work... It's seems I can't
Love that bulky blanket in the beginning and thanks for your tutorial. I love your crochet projects.
All of your Blanket stitches are so Beautiful! I'm going to try this! Thanks for sharing!
I can't wait to try this with different weight yarns. I have an idea even now while watching this. Thank you for the tutorial - great job.
Teresa Martin I'm making this pattern now in a worsted weight and a 6.5 mm and it's beautiful!

This is so Beautiful!!! Is so organic!! Gorgeous!
Of course this stitch looks difficult & yet itz not it is super beautiful thank you for your time and energy to show me how to achieve such a conversation stitch im gonna do it @ a gift 2 my daughter co-worker I'll try 2 send pic
I did this with 2 strands and it turned out beautifully.
Did you like do the starting knot and everything always holding the 2 strands? Was it hard to keep these together when doing this?
Very nice tutorial .. thank you so much for taking time to share it
I love this Stitch and definitely going to try it maybe in a different size yarn and hook

I'm starting a blanket like this today. Thank you!
Hi sorry to bother you could you please tell me how many stitches you put on fire in super chunky for a blanket and how many balls of wool did it take
This video will help me alot in my future work thank you!!
Thank you-I love this blanket-plan to make a baby blanket with #4 yarn. You are an excellent teacher. I are written directions available?
That colour is so stunning! It is making me hungry. Is it a wine raspberry? What wool and colour are you using please?

Beautiful design 👌👌👌👌👌
Great video, thanks so much.thank you for your time and expertise.
I’ve been practicing this NOW and in my mind it could be a scarf. It DOES eat a lot of yarn though but I still love it! You made a blanket with this stitch???
Just watching your video. Does the pattern call for such bulky yarn, or can any type of yarn be used? Thanks for the video!
Hi how many balls of super chunky balls of wool will it take for a blanket and how many stitches do I need on

Joseph Cecil it’s marble
What yarn are you using ? The cranberry color one
What is the brand of crochet hook that you are using?
I’d like to make this blanket in a. Bigger size. Do you have a size chart?
A light color yarn would have been a better choice to use in order to see how it is worked. Just a suggestion. This is a lovely stitch pattern.
Hi. Love the pattern. Can you use a different kind of yarn with this pattern? Thanks soo much! 😊
Love ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️ 💕 💘 ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️ 💕 💘 ❤️ have nice weeekend
Would like to see a scarf with this stitch in a video!
Can u use this stitch for a floor rug?
How would I increase and decrease with this stitch? Thanks in advance.
What yarn did you use?
Love it! Thank you!
What size did your blanket finish out at?
Very nice, thank you.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to keep your finished project from fuzzing up so much/so fast? I use red heart and I love this yarn but even those fuzz up so much.

Hi I’m Hugette great tutorial like your instructions only one thing the dark yarn doesn’t help to see what you’re doing. Again love your tutorial

"...and if I've completely confused you just completely ignore everything I just said..." Lol Just thought that was funny 😉 Thanks for the tutorial!
Thanks for the tutorial
Need to use brigth color..that way every can see it
I love it but you were going to fast for me... I'll get.❤️
Aleecha Adams you can slow it down by clicking on the 3 dots on top right
Great! Thanks!

love it. a single lighter colored yarn would help to see it better though, just saying.

Nice thank you.
On the blog she uses two strands but in the video only one. Fyi.
Great Video
Very hard to see with variegated yard.
Pienso que no es correcta la puntada de la que se ve en la colcha gris esta es el relieve la otra no
Using a light color yarn for this demo would be a better way to show off the stitch.
Lindo!
Porém a lã escura🤔
Não sei falar em inglês!
Tem que ser olhando!😣
would have been good if you use the same exact yarn/color you've shown in your sample rather than using a different yarn and darker color
I agree. I always feel like I'm getting the old 'bait and switch' when crafters do this.
Cary Branthwaite lol omg. How does the color of yarn affect how you learn a stitch?
Maravilhoso!!!

Yes, at first it looks like celtic weave stitch but completely not. Beautiful stitch, though.
This tutorial is way too fast for beginners
This is called the "Rice Stitch"
Am I the only one who thinks the swatch looks completely different from the blanket shown and the beginning and end?
