    Good to see you back again! :))
    It's been so long, though, now after watching this I could imagine why it took so long! ... Good job my friend! ... I'm sure they catch as good as any other lure you made before...
    I also think they could equally be as good as off the mold without any paint job... perhaps just sticking eyes would make them even easier....

      @@SplishSplashFishing I have had no doubt.
      We, as anglers, have been kinda brainwashed by lure makers to be hooked on their products... we, as lure makers, know way better than that, yet, it gives us a better feeling and more satisfaction and prouder to have a nice paint job finish on our lures, I totally understand.... :))

    Great content, My experience has been that having the eye hook near the bottom of the lure tends to give the lure a more active action. Not sure the physics on that but it has been my experience. That lures action looks pretty good though. As far as the split shot goes, try putting your sprue directly above where you want the weight to be and use gravity to get it to settle where you want it.

  • @huntermoore4399
    @huntermoore4399 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video with some great tips, although I do have a question. What do you use for the wire pieces on the lure where the hooks will attach and how do you get those to hold?

    Great job !
    For the 3D printed master you can try to use ABS instead PLA . It is easier to post-process ABS and also you have the possibility to use acetone vapors for a glossy effect on exterior surfaces .
    If you need more precision on your painting stencils you can also 3D print them --> PETG can be the best solution due its chemical resistance :)
    Best regards,
    Alex

      @SplishSplashFishing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello Jorgen, thanks for making this content and thanks for sharing your experience.

    • @SplishSplashFishing

      The airbrush colors I use for softbaits is CAB Coatings softbait colors. I bought mine from Lurefactors in UK, but you can find the in several stores. Brightbaits.com in Belgium also have softbait colors. Good luck

    Enjoy your channel very much. I am doing very similar things with silicons, resins and 3d printer. I am wondering why you go to the trouble of printing the blank and then laying it in a bed of clay to make the mold halves.
    I print each half of the lure and it's mold box all together. It is a simple process to embed the master into the two mold half blocks, pull up the sides and add all the locators, sprues and pour holes before printing. Perfect part lines and alignment every time.

    • @SplishSplashFishing
      @SplishSplashFishing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I understand that it seems optimal to do it that way, and to some extend it's mostly a question of doing the same way I'm used to. My main consideration regarding this is, how you get by getting the surface of the lure nice and smooth when it's fixed on a plate. Must be difficult. I guess that I must test "your way" within too long - Thanks for the input

    • @hobiepaulo
      @hobiepaulo 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah ok I thought that may be the reason. I also go with what I know. :-)
      To get each half of the lure smooth after sanding if necessary, I paint only the lure half with a thin coat of uv resin and a small brush. Careful not to get any on the mold join surfaces. Cure with uv torch and put out in the sun for a bit. Then pour the silicon in each half. I can send you some photos if you like.

    • @SplishSplashFishing
      @SplishSplashFishing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes UV resin seems to be a good choice for that. A pic or two would be nice, and always nice to see what other people work with. If you are on facebook you can catch me at facebook.com/splishsplashfishing/ if not, I will send you a mailadr.

    • @SplishSplashFishing

    • @SplishSplashFishing
      @SplishSplashFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you want to make tiny softbaits, I think you have to make a injection mold. To make 2 color injections you will need to have a double injector - Which I dont have, so it will not be the first thing I make

    Why use silicone for the molds? I use plaster of paris and it is cheaper and simple to mix. I use it to make soft bait molds. Just asking if there is an advantage to using silicone.

    • @SplishSplashFishing
      @SplishSplashFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you using plaster for resin-casting? My attempts at that showed it was nearly impossible to get the cast out of the mold. However I guess it depends on the shape of your lure
