The world's first commandos were the waffen SS and a specialised mountain warfare unit in Sweden to fight Russian communist. Then the British formed a commando unit and right behind them were the Americans. That said the south Africans had units based off the British SAS and are amazing warriors. But considering there dutch, British and German heritage I'm not surprised one bit. I watched a documentary on task force 3 in the 90's. Have no clue if they still exist or are still as good. But at that time they were absolutely in the top echelons of urban combat experts. They didn't duck around or need excess to get shit done, very very brave men. I know all the antiwhite policies has destroyed the quality of things In SA, they have reduced standards for non whites to put them in positions. But hopefully the recce has not been reduced in standard.

I see no one has replied in 2 months. We are very poorly ranked at this point. I have family members in the SANDF who warned me away when I wanted to join a few years ago. Before 1994 our special forces unit was considered one of the best in the world sadly.
I would love to see what our special forces Task force and others how would they handle situations where they are needed to defend and protect life , they have lowered the standards to accommodate why? when in a situation its not about color but whether you are qualified Enough and have skill to perform and deliver its WAR not a game of color.
All that footage of soldiers coming out of the water with Steyr AUGs is of Irish recce troops, not SA Recces. Not special forces so to speak but elite infantry and the course is still grueling.

The Recces, Rhodesian SAS and the Selous Scouts in the environs that they operated in could not be equaled by any other SF units anywhere in the world. They ( the Scouts & C Sqdn) proved beyond doubt that they were elite operators when they were active.

I like the fact that nobody has any real pictures and videos of the Recces, that's how a special unit should be, secretive. All these video purporting to be of the Recces are not.
SA SF was never run by politicians. I corresponded with a former Brigadier of the Special Forces Brigade (about 2 yrs ago) and he assured me the standards have only improved from when he qualified (in the heyday), to keep up with modern requirements. You cannot exist in the modern geopolitical arena without a Tier 1 military elite force. What we've realistically lost, is 2 things: Operational experience (we are in peacetime), and Threat perception (as evidence by even the comments on here) -though the later can also be an advantage. But the Recces themselves ensure that the standard of the operators remains in tact - they train their successors - The Training Cycle still recognized as one of the hardest in the world to complete/survive. The British SAS recruited the man (Ben Mangels - RIP) who trained our SF in unarmed combat "Atemi-Jujitsu" (similar to Krav Maga). We're also not that far behind (the leaders) technologically either. Also in 2013, a (black) Recce set the 6th longest sniper shot (confirmed) in history. The SA SF is also 'known' as one of the most secretive of elite forces (according to a former British SAS soldier) All that being said though, this video was a bit corny.
A soldier first and foremost is a thinking individual who protects a set of values. If he protects a value system dictated to him or one that he cannot define he is by no stretch of the imagination a soldier. He is a mercenary. Until one of these glorified enforces can explain just what those values are that they are protecting I will never give them that respect, calling them soldier.

Busa500 you are spot (you obviously know a bit about the situation that took place in CAR the Central Africa Republic - not the Congo) and for the record there were only about 140 fighting men (paras) and about 40 Spec Forces (used to be called Recces) facing off against the initial group of attacking rebels of 3500 (that number grew later and the rebels had a better range of weapons than the SA group). So ignore these biased wannabee idiots. The South Africans were magnificent there and they were led by an absolutely outstanding Commanding Officer who, without doubt, is as good as anyone the SADF had Angola side. I know him personally and can confirm this as fact. I won't say anymore, our defence force past and present has always been shocking in giving the full "marketing" picture to the public which gives scope for for fools to criticise
For those who didn't know even the word "commando" is derived from Afrikaans. The old South African defence special forces training regime for their commandos included complete concealment exercises by being buried for up to 24 hours with only a tube for you to breath from. No other commando unit in the world had some of these really impossible and near death requirements.

Busa500 you are spot (you obviously know a bit about the situation that took place in CAR the Central Africa Republic - not the Congo) and for the record there were only about 140 fighting men (paras) and about 40 Spec Forces (used to be called Recces) facing off against the initial group of attacking rebels of 3500 (that number grew later and the rebels had a better range of weapons than the SA group). So ignore these biased wannabee idiots. The South Africans were magnificent there and they were led by an absolutely outstanding Commanding Officer who, without doubt, is as good as anyone the SADF had Angola side. I know him personally and can confirm this as fact. I won't say anymore, our defence force past and present has always been shocking in giving the full "marketing" picture to the public which gives scope for for fools to criticise
For those who didn't know even the word "commando" is derived from Afrikaans. The old South African defence special forces training regime for their commandos included complete concealment exercises by being buried for up to 24 hours with only a tube for you to breath from. No other commando unit in the world had some of these really impossible and near death requirements.
