I met Mae West 8 months before she died. I was working at Pier 1 Imports in Marina del Rey in California and Mae West always came to a restraunt near Pier 1 everyday. She waited in the car while her chauffeur went in to get her lunch. We went out to get Miss West's autograph. She was very gracious to us. She didn't say anything but she smiled and nodded. Her secretary kept 8 x 10's in the front seat for her to sign. Years later her secretary spoke at a women's club and he said Miss West never turned down signing an autograph. He said she always signed because she knew it was the public who made her a star.

Marion Davies was a glorious American beauty. Robust, full of life, open-hearted and loyal. Marlene Dietrich was a weirdo Euro-Junkie and notorious slum-gullion. If they had crack back then, picking up drunk homeless guys would have been a thing back in the Twenties.

My mom's boyfriend was the cleaner/maintenance man for dozens of Hollywood legends from the early 50's thru the later 80's. He said many were just regular folks trying to make a living while fighting for some semblance of privacy in their lives. Quite a number of them couldn't handle it and become addicted to drugs, alcohol, gambling, and sex.
As an example of typical issues, he dealt with on a weekly basis. He came over to clean up the home of one well known female singer/actress (several top 10 hits) to find three passed out naked women (her lovers) and about a pound of cocaine piled on the living room table. He left a nice note stating he'd be back later, after her friends (and the other stuff) was gone. He came back later, and she apologized for the women and the powder. He cleaned up the place like he did after every weekend of her wild parties. They appreciated his discretion and the fact he didn't judge them for their lifestyles.
One famous producer's wife was so picky that she fired over two dozen maids and cleaners in less than years (a lot of insecurities for her growing up poor). Once she hired him, she never complained as he was attentive to her requirements, OCD about cleaning, and did house repairs while he was there (her and her hubby got into world class fights). He never said a word about their private lives and just did his job (he got lots of bonuses and X-Mas cards every year, even after he retired, from many of his former clients).
On occasion he would run into the truly nasty ones. Usually, he would quit working for them after a couple of visits or any incident that disturbed him. One well known actor (mentioned in this video) took a swing at him when he accidentally woke him in the late afternoon passed out on the living room coach (his wife had kicked him out of their bedroom for being drunk). The actor woke up a few minutes later with a sore jaw and a note stating he quit. They tried to get him back as he was really good at his job, but he refused. Some of those Hollywood types were just too mean or too stupid to deal with on a regular basis.

He insisted that Debbie Reynolds starring in a major motion picture right after high school, was brought up to the standards of the seasoned professionals in the movie. Worst evil actors...ahem...whatever. Of the people listed, Beery was a drunk, a slob, and not very nice to anyone, it seemed. Mitchum was a product of his times, a bigot, and someone who loathed himself. Garbo...what the hell? She was her own person, stuck up for LGBT rights, and who cares if she was gay or bi (or whatever). And confusing her with Marion Davies is downright stupid.
John Wayne was a bigot as well. As mentioned, his Playboy interview showed his true colors. Oddly enough, he put Woody Strode in a few of his flicks, probably because Strode didn't take crap from anyone.
As for the others, they had egos, were heavy drinkers, had affairs...in short, they had flaws, magnified because they were famous. Berle had a monstrous ego, yes. But he also pushed for inclusion of black performers on his early shows, something very few other big names would do. And he had a good eye for discovering new talent. So, there's that to consider.
If y'all want to dump on others for the bad they did, consider the good they did, not just their movies or performances.

I understand the reasoning for all these revelations.
Just remember that the actors are icons of the movie scene.
Why would you find the need to expose their adversities.
We all have demons to fight againstz
These actors have to live in worlds different to the norm.
Before you judge them remember the difficulties that we fall into despite how we endeavour to avoid them?
I believe that we should not reveal the lives of these artists. After all, in my opinion, they have portrayed the image of real life as it is. Despite the need for you to put this on the Tube I believe that you should be more empathetic.
After all, we all struggle with psychological issues as they do.
