      I have been to Turkey 10 times and I was more than impressed when I went to Tuva an realised that despite the cyrillic alphabet imposed by Russians, all basic words like the sun, water, numbers, etc are the same in Tuvan and Turkish. If you can share a link with that story, I'd be grateful.

      @@fili-tis-petaloudasif you take the Turkish of the Yörük Türkmen (wandering Türkmen) you’ll see even much more similarities to old Turkic language. But standart Turkish is quite different due, it’s process of changing.

I think the commentator above saw the greek letters on my account and kindly wrote "beautiful" in Greek (albeit, greek is unfortunately very gendered, so omorfos means "beautiful male" - if we were to be pedantic, it should be omorfo as referring to a neutral album/recording etc) - anyway - thanks for the comment and SHU-DE!

      @@felixhaggblom7562 You are brave! Grammatical gender is nonsensical, and a total pain in the arse to learn why a chair or a pub are feminine, a table and a fork neutral, clay and road masculine... I think it is Swedish which includes a genderless pronoun and Farsi which is very much genderless as a language.

    With the first track I was like "that sounds familiar, didn't Sturmpercht, the Austrian neofolk band sample that?" Then the second track played and I had the exact same thought. Sampling is all well and good but I'm starting to think Sturmpercht might be a bit derivative, which is a shame, I liked them.

    • @fili-tis-petaloudas
      @fili-tis-petaloudas  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for that reference, i didn't know the band, so i am discovering them now. I don't think they sampled Chirgilchin, although it's true that several western neofolk bands have incorporated Tuvan and Mongolian throat singing in their repertoire. Some do it well, some don't. But we are free to make experiments! Massive Attack have sampled throat singing on their track Karmacoma, from an old VHS documentary about Siberia!
