Miss Kitty just wants to take her kittens out and teach them how to survive. You have no idea how long she was on her own until she found you. It’s like teaching your children to be self sufficient 🙂🙂
Ms. Kitty only moved them because of the opposum. Once the opposum was gone, she was perfectly happy to keep the kittens in the garage. The kittens are just old enough to start venturing out. Grandpa and Grandma let them go out with Ms. Kitty during the day and they can learn from her then, but the hunting is totally an instinct they are born with. My neighbor found a mistreated kitten that wasn't really even weaned. Someone thought they had killed it and threw it in the trash. She took it and nursed it back to health. He lives with her and even with no mother to teach him, he knows how to hunt. He hunts all of the time. She has to constantly pull lizards out of his mouth (she's afraid one may make him sick or poison him). He has no problems catching the lizards even though he had no mom to teach him.. He catches all kinds of other animals mice, small squirrels, birds, etc) and brings them in as presents for her. He does all this, but had no mom to teach him how to hunt. So what Grandma and Grandpa are doing is fine especially considering the fact that they will be giving the kittens away in a couple of weeks.
Miss Kitty feels that it's time for her babies to join the farm, to learn foraging, and lean the area, adjusting to the animals, etc. They are ready to explore at eight weeks of age. :)
Hey Ralph, LeaAnn and Matt! I thought you might enjoy this, My mom's cat was an inside cat. The cat use to go get tissues from the box in her bedroom and bring her a tissue as a gift, put it at her feet in the evenings. Good thing my mom did not need feeding😄💕🤗

The only thing is one's kitty doesn't realize that his/her half-alive prey is hurting. I found a way to solve that, i took both of them outside,scolding him, shut the door & wouldn't let him back in 'til his dinner time & ignored him 'til morning. The next time he brought a critter in was when he was teaching his new sister to hunt!

I love Matt’s humor, you two work well together and I think Matt will be just fine on his own now. I had to gag right with Matt when he opened the “moist cricket can”, I can only imagine how bad those smelled. Hahah. I’m glad that Matt likes the goats, they’re so big now and I can see how they could be intimidating to someone that hasn’t had experience with them. I’d be terrified if it wasn’t for Ralph leading the way. Ralph, you may not know this but Miss Kitty might actually be bringing YOU the dead lizards and rats e.t.c... to thank you cuz that's what my son's Male cat used to do for him too and he was a Male and no kittens. He would leave them on the porch by the front door. I have a neighbor cat that does the same thing to me, she brings me lizards and rats to my doorstep. Just thought I would tell you this in case you didn't know. It's really gratitude and that's how they show it. I bet after other people read my comment, they will testify to the same thing happening. My dog loved bananas. I used to get plain unsweetened yogurt and different fruits and mix them together and then freeze them in ice cube trays in the summer. They loved it and i bet the goats, pigs and cats would like them.

May I offer a few suggestions Ralph...With the pups it works best if you use one-word commands. Sit, Down, off, Verses sit down, lay down, get down. I found it's less confusing for them, especially when they are young. & the word enough for whatever annoying things they're doing, Scratching, licking, barking, chewing. Leave it is also very helpful when you drop something or they're going after a squirrel or something you don't want them to mess with. Use their name & then the command. I'm sure you know what works best for your animals, just a suggestion. Good to see you again Matt! 😊
I'm surprised you don't get snakes in the garage when you leave the door up even an inch! I'd never do that, especially when I get a snake in the ceiling of my back porch and it just wanted to stay and not leave!

It was good to see Matt today. I would not have taken a huge wiff of the crickets like you did after Matt had been saying how bad they smelt. I did have to chuckle when you gagged after doing so. Im so happy that your goats liked the banana. It's so much easier to open and empty the copper bolus into the banana as a treat rather than trying to force them to swallow it whole! They make a contraption just for getting it back far enough to have them swallow it, but it's still not a easy thing to do!

Miss Kitty needs to take her kittens outside to show them how to function as independent outside cats. Her catches are brought in to show the kittens and then present them to you as a special offering. Her way of providing. Free her up during the day so she can teach them.
You know grandpa you could get all those kittens including momma spade & neutered & they could take care of the woods & also momma could teach them about the chickens, goats, pigs & dogs. Also the extra gifts they bring could go to the chickens. My cats bring home snakes, haven’t seen a poisonous snake ever since I’ve lived in MI., to darn cold. Anyway just a thought about the kitties, just in case you don’t find homes. 😊❤️

Grandpa Adler. Miss Kitty is taking those babies out of the garage to teach them necessary survival skills. Even if a cat is an 'indoor' cat, it needs the basic survival skills in the event they suddenly find themselves outside. I imagine that the one you're keeping will be an outdoor cat like mama, and so he/she will absolutely need those skills. She's trying to be a good mama. It's hard for us because they're so cute, small and vulnerable. Her instincts tell her she's only got a small window to teach these kittens all the skills they need to survive. Skills like stalking, hunting, pouncing, stealth, climbing trees, food choices, and most importantly self defense. Not to mention that all this teaches the female kittens to be good mamas too. I truly enjoy being on this adventure with the WHOLE Adler Farm Family. God bless. ❤

I agree with Matt. 😊 Batman is my favorite, too. My husband used to fish with crickets, so I know that when you have enough of them together even live ones have an odor. I can't imagine how fragrant canned ones must be.

Yep. She is weaning them by bringing meat. Next she will bring in live prey so they can practice hunting.

He would leave them on the porch by the front door. I have a neighbor cat that does the same thing to me, she brings me lizards and rats to my doorstep. Just thought I would tell you this in case you didn't know. It's really gratitude and that's how they show it. I bet after other people read my comment, they will testify to the same thing happening.

My dog loved bananas. I used to get plain unsweetened yogurt and different fruits and mix them together and then freeze them in ice cube trays in the summer. They loved it and i bet the goats, pigs and cats would like them.

May I offer a few suggestions Ralph...With the pups it works best if you use one-word commands. Sit, Down, off, Verses sit down, lay down, get down. I found it's less confusing for them, especially when they are young. & the word enough for whatever annoying things they're doing, Scratching, licking, barking, chewing. Leave it is also very helpful when you drop something or they're going after a squirrel or something you don't want them to mess with. Use their name & then the command. I'm sure you know what works best for your animals, just a suggestion. Good to see you again Matt! 😊

Im so happy that your goats liked the banana. It's so much easier to open and empty the copper bolus into the banana as a treat rather than trying to force them to swallow it whole! They make a contraption just for getting it back far enough to have them swallow it, but it's still not a easy thing to do!

Miss Kitty needs to take her kittens outside to show them how to function as independent outside cats. Her catches are brought in to show the kittens and then present them to you as a special offering. Her way of providing. Free her up during the day so she can teach them.

You know grandpa you could get all those kittens including momma spade & neutered & they could take care of the woods & also momma could teach them about the chickens, goats, pigs & dogs. Also the extra gifts they bring could go to the chickens. My cats bring home snakes, haven’t seen a poisonous snake ever since I’ve lived in MI., to darn cold. Anyway just a thought about the kitties, just in case you don’t find homes. 😊❤️

Grandpa Adler. Miss Kitty is taking those babies out of the garage to teach them necessary survival skills. Even if a cat is an 'indoor' cat, it needs the basic survival skills in the event they suddenly find themselves outside. I imagine that the one you're keeping will be an outdoor cat like mama, and so he/she will absolutely need those skills. She's trying to be a good mama. It's hard for us because they're so cute, small and vulnerable. Her instincts tell her she's only got a small window to teach these kittens all the skills they need to survive. Skills like stalking, hunting, pouncing, stealth, climbing trees, food choices, and most importantly self defense. Not to mention that all this teaches the female kittens to be good mamas too. I truly enjoy being on this adventure with the WHOLE Adler Farm Family. God bless. ❤

I agree with Matt. 😊 Batman is my favorite, too. My husband used to fish with crickets, so I know that when you have enough of them together even live ones have an odor. I can't imagine how fragrant canned ones must be.
