SUPER HELPFUL! I had the same problem on my Smart Roadster Coupe, and it was even easier because you can disconnect all the wires on the electronic mirrors and than take the metal parts on the workbench and reposition the snap ring very very easy!

Thanks for the info. I found it easier to work on if the whole mirror assembly was taken off the door. ***BUT*** on re-assembly back on the car. The clip came off again within a week. A successful modification soon to come on my channel. Glad it worked for you. 🙂 Rob

Nice work, however you could have made your life easier by removing the whole mirror, take it apart, remove the metal shaft from the base (3 screws) to free up the whole cast iron assembly then press fit the ring and locking clip by using the same clamp and a socket that fit over and allows enough room for the shaft to go 3/4 of the way until you hear it click in. 😊 Hope this helps other people

No way, this just happened to mine hahahah thanks
Ps. Another useful and not to difficult video idea would be for when you need to drop it to show how you drop the cdi engine to gain space, I haven't found a video explaining that and what to watch out for during the task ;)

Hey Man! It may or may not interest you and I can only imagine how busy you are but I've stubled upon a post on clubsmartcar forum that was talking about fitting a freewheel alternator pulley and its benefits, basically faster upshifts, longer belt and bearing life, smoothness and possibly fuel economy, the post is at the bottom of the second page of the "performance and modification 450 cdi" section started by the user tolsen, intresting read and not difficult mod, they list the number of a cheap compatibile freewheel pulley, have a peak if you want and maybe in the future you could give it a try :)

Sounds like the concept works on cintrifical force or less bends in the belt. I know the alternator belt has to be pretty tight to not squeel & squeek, maybe something there to be remedied. Will take a look at it, Thank you Sir :)
It is -30 °c here at moment & I am happy to have the car running well. Will take a look at the car when a little warmer. Thank you SIr for all your support :)

@@manbuilds1587 yes something like that, the next model, the 451 has this type of pulley from the factory, apparently it decouples the alternator that when spinning fast acts kinda like a flywheel on the little engine so that the engine is faster to drop in revs so faster upshifts and better in general, another good thing is that you can tighten the belt less, on the 450 you should have if i remember correctly 450N of tension on the belt, on the 451 its 330N because of this pulley, longer belt and bearings life, the reference for this pulley is INA 535005910, I've searched for cross reference and found these other pulleys that SHOULD be the same CONTITECH AP9023 | DAYCO ALP2357 | GATES OAP7080 | HUTCHINSON DB0263 | PEUGEOT 77362558 | RUVILLE 55966 | SKF VKM03302 | SNR GA75904 | SWF 588003

My 450 diesel has EGR issues. Getting 2 codes. One is excessive flow and one is insufficient flow. I watched your egr block plate video and now I’m spooked to try it myself. Any chance you would be interested in fixing mine for me?

Your egr valve was stuck open, then it was stuck closed. If you have a nice warm place to work on the car in your spare time & just take your time with it, you can do it no problem sir. 👍 I would like to fix your car for you & help you out sir, but I just can't afford the time & extra load on mind. What I would charge you for the repair would not be enough to justify the time taken away from other things. I thought about come fix your car as long as could video it but there is not enough people who care about smart cars to make that endeavor worth while also. I make no money from youtube. Not enough interest & need to make better video. Thank you for the interest in my videos, sorry I cannot fix your car. You tube videos are a luxury currently, real things need attention.
