It figures it out based on the settings you input. From what I can tell, the setting that you could easily adjust to directly affect this is your hardness. If you increase the hardness number, your gallons usage will go down. In other words, the resin will theoretically be dirtier, so it would clean it after fewer gallons used. Less hardness number, means you can use more gallons before it wants to clean itself
I want a paper manual! This is not very practical. How do you push the buttons and watch the video at the same time on an Iphone? Print a book! Besides, this softener quit working for no reasons. I should have bought something else.
Your softener came with a book. Read it. Also this 5600 Fleck is one of the best and most popular out there. I put mine in 10 yrs ago and it never had a problem. Just be sure to reset it after a power outage. If you lost your book or never had it,contact Fleck for a replacement or they may have a copy online.

Push and hold the regen cycle button. The circle arrows. It will do a regen
