    Exciting! I am looking forward to watching the clips taking from the Slam. Thanks very much for sharing this.

      Im letting Slam post clips for now, the camera I have here is a prototype unit and focusing need fine tune - also some of the image processing is still being optimized.
      on the upside - they are aware of it and are tweaking production methods. :-)

      yeah me to - they have worked hard to get to this point. image processing need to be polished a bit - but the raw materials seems on point.

    Nice camera! I prefer 3D 180 VR over 360 VR or regular 3D. When I’m relaxing with my VR headset, I can’t constantly look all around me. With 180 VR, the photographer decides what the viewer sees, which I like. On the other hand, 360 VR feels more like it’s for lazy photographers who just record without focusing much on framing (just kidding-it can be amazing, but I still prefer 180 VR 3D). This camera reminds me a bit of the XREAL Beam Pro, but it has larger lenses and a bigger body.
    By the way, I googled Slam 180 vr and came to their webpage. The camera they show there is a smartphone with 3D 180vr but with a much smaller formfactor than the one you show here. It looks like a smartphone with small lenses. I don't know what it's capabilities are in terms of resolution, but it looks awesome as well. Wonder which one is going to be their focus on. It's half the size in thickness of the Slam you are showing here. I saw it on Indiegogo page.

      LOL we are thinking a lot the same thing here - I have experimented with 270vr which blocks 90deg in the back with black, you can turn your head and glance to notice the end of the image in any chair without climbing around in the chair, I feel that give a more relaxed expereince.. at the same time, the viewer tend to return to the "correct" center image and it is easier to direct the viewing experience.

    Great video! Was hoping for 8K 60FPS, but I guess they had to cut down certain things to keep the price under $1000. I'm curious what sensor they will be using. Optical flow is a smart idea as a workaround though going from 30fps to 60fps.

    • @Sailing360
      @Sailing360  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would love 8K 60fps as well - but that said - it is a real headache on th Canon R5c in terms of sheer amount of data.. maybe if they could do that on a 200-250mbps data stream.. but the canons prores is like 1.5 TB per hour of recording.

    Hi Bo, I've been following you for a long time, here and on other sites, especially for your work in the VR180 video genre. I'm passionate about it, I have a Quest 3, I did a few videos with an INSTA360 EVO that I then sold because the resolution wasn't satisfactory. Now I'd like to buy a camera again, without spending too much. Under 1000 would be good. I've seen the CALF Visinse videos, and they're horrible. I've seen your videos made with the two GoPros and they're remarkable. Question 1: what's the maximum final resolution of the SBS file that you get with the two GoPros, at 30 fps? and at 60 fps? Question 2: can I download a little piece of a dual gopro "original" video somewhere that hasn't been handled by TH-cam? And a little piece of video made with the SLAM XCAM? Thanks if you can help !!!!

    • @Sailing360
      @Sailing360  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      the slam is marginally under $1000 but not shipping yet.
      the dual Gopro's can shoot a native 10K file IF you use Mistika or Davinci.
      with the free app its about 8K at 30fps and about 6K at 60fps
      the SLAM I have - is very much a pre-production unit - there are several issues that have been resolved in newer units, like the changing frame rates, we should let slam upload video from a current unit rather than mine.
      yes for sure, email me and I can link you to a bit of GoPro video

    It would be interesting to compare the video quality of the Slam xCam 180vr and Qoocam3 Ultra Mod 180vr under different lighting conditions during the day and in the evening. Which camera has a greater dynamic range?

    • @Sailing360
      @Sailing360  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That is a great idea - technically speaking we really need to do a static test for dynamic range with a backlighted target..
      but low-light performance is another thing that is very important..

    According to the kickstart the MSRP will be $1799 not quite under the $1k. So would you still think it's worth that amount?

    • @Sailing360
      @Sailing360  24 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      the LIGHT version with less internal ram is the $1k camera.
      load it up with ram and it is more expensive. on the upside they solved the problem of users buying cheap sd cards and stuttering video. 🙂
      that said, I would likely not buy the fully loaded ram version unless I needed it to run for a long time like long constant coverage.
      Sorry to answer your question - for me - it is far more pocketable than my Calf1 camera, and easier to do, so for me, yes. that said, I feel the overall price point is more attractive closer to $1000

  • @my3dviews
    @my3dviews 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Are you saying they went to internal memory only, with no micro SD card slot? I would prefer swappable memory for when it is full and for transferring large files to my computer.

    • @Sailing360
      @Sailing360  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey 3Dviews - yes they ditched the micro-SD option because so many people use inferior cards - in the end it is safer to record to high-speed interior memory.
      the camera have proved solid in terms of connecting to both PC and my MacBook, very easy to work with.
      THAT said - personally- I would be quite interested in an compromise, like being able to insert a card and dump the internal memory to card for transfer.

    • @my3dviews
      @my3dviews 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @Sailing360 Yes, that would be better. I have a Sony 3d camcorder that has both internal memory and an SD card slot. You can easily transfer the video to the SD card then remove it and put in computer.

    • @Sailing360
      @Sailing360  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@my3dviews that would by my choice as well - think another use scenario is camping, mountains trips, etc where you might want to unload but not have a laptop handy, would be convenient to dump to SD cards.
      I feel they can get away with not enabling record to SD card, from the perspective of avoiding dealing with too slow cards.. but the convenience would be real for data unload.

    The only place where we differ is I would shoot 6K 60fps. Upscaling size easier than inserting more frames

    • @Sailing360
      @Sailing360  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      6K 60fps is native on the camera - tho I gotta say - the quality of what FCP are doing with optical flow / machine learning - is shockingly good. im not sure if im not just as happy having larger frames to work from. but probably a toss-up, ideally I want 8K 60fps.. next year maybe.

    • @Sailing360
      @Sailing360  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Just checked - at the moment its only h265 - keep in mind this is a significantly more effective compression - together with 160mbps you have a ton of data - you can always recompress to h264 fairly easy after the fact for delivery if required, but devices like quest and apple visionPro prefer h265

    • @Sailing360
      @Sailing360  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      the camera create spherical "stereoscopic" images - unless that is what you plan to print.. I would say it's not entirely suited for traditional landscape photography. :-)

    • @Movingmidgard
      @Movingmidgard หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @Sailing360 lol makes sense. I just wasn't sure if this format would allow for larger landscape at higher res. It makes sense to assume there would need to be extra editing to flatten it back out. I thought you had mentioned it took pictures but these are still VR pictures then. I was just thinking maybe a 180 camera would be good for large landscape photos without having to move the camera from one side to the other slowly like we have to do on our phones lol

      I know Slam have been following the calf2 release - and are trying to avoid some of the "do this even work" experience.. that said - my Visinse is starting to work fairly well. these are much the same - both shooting 7600x2800 8K 30fps video.
      but yeah - im with you - right now I would like to see the calf not burn out highlights.
      Slam expect to be shipping feb 2025, my guess is that calf2 visinse probably should have waited until Feb as well and the firmware would have been more fully baked.

      yeah agree - they have done a lot of work already - and also some fairly hard choices, like ditching removable card for faster internal storage which I think will play good for them. avoiding people buying cheap microSD that can't handle the data-rate - im ok with the internal battery - but maybe not loving that.. still everything is compromises.. proofs in the pudding.

    • @Sailing360
      @Sailing360  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hey Dexter - not sure we are looking at the same thing - the unit I have is surprisingly low on chromatic aberration, resolution is comparable to maybe better than the Calf2
      * did go looking for that rainbow effect on the edges because of how the calf2 came off.
      I DID see a couple posts using the HDR mode - which is not ready for primetime yet, and among others do give a blurred look
      thank you for bringing it up - I should do a video with a resolution check and a look at the edges of the captured image
