The cops were on full force that night because of the races and the release of the movie. I remember friends with scanners that left once they heard on the radio that cops were coming during some nights and would meet at the Dunkin Donuts on Route 440 and at times, some racers would race next to the jail in Doremus and Wilson Aves racing there. The theater people would hang out and burn out there too.

For me it was after highschool 2005-2007 maybe little later but that's what I remember.. it was still very active. I was down in doremus every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Loved it! Cops chilled with us is true. I heard cops got hurt or killed don't know if true but at some point they started to crack down Hard Af unt finally putting speed bumps down on doremus, and throwing sand down everywhere else we would try to race. I had a Mk3 Supra and rams some races but when they started putting sand down it really messed it up. I miss the car meets all up and down 440. DND! Just the life. 1st time I saw a real serious race it's was amazing I was at the finish line and we were on a highway in the area, MR2 Vs Civic both worked! Amazing n after that I was addicted. Best time of my life right after highschool. I raced my 1st Gen 91 Rx7, 86 300 Zx, and 89 Mk3 Supra down there. Really miss when some hot shot brought out an Evo or a vette or mustang thinking they bad n little civic pulls up next to and rips their ass. How did my 35k car get beaten by a car worth less than 5k? Ls-Vtec, Jdm K20, LS Turbo, GSR B16 TRANS, an so on. Lol. I leaned to drive stick at the movie theaters in my 1st Rx7. Memories! Great video if you want to run big money it was Ave P or the Hutch. Nanuet on Monday night was crazy they never stopped the highway for me. They said just pull out on to the highway when no cars are coming.

Race crews from as far away as Baltimore, Philly, South Jersey, Bronx NY, Hartford CT, Buffalo NY would come w/ vehicles. O'yea - pure Chevy's, Dodge, Ford is what we ran, all day every day & you know what we still do our thing although we're lot GROWN UP NOW ... from Passaic, NJ , check us out on the web @ United Street Racers

I had 2 waves pf Avenue P Growing up in Newark , Wilson ave, i pretty much lived on AvP! '95 used to race my 91 VR4 Galant. those were good times. But by far the highlight was 2001 with my moded Audi TT 225! Fucking cops came out of nowhere guns blazin' , Helicopter in the air! by the end of the night 20 guys went to jail and 15 cars got inpounded!!!...and i had just beaten an SVT Cobra came back to celebrate and got us all!!!!
Avenue P was where we use to ride out bikes from Lentz Ave during the summer as teenagers back in the 70s. When we started driving, it's where you drove to get laid.

there was never anything fast down at ave p when i use to go there. There was a quick blue civic hatch i saw down there that was kinda quick
