For those who are wondering, two of the 3 owners of ONGUZA are black Namibians. Sakaria Nkolo is of Himba descent and Petrus Mufenge is of Wambo descent. ONGUZA's (Pangolin Bicycles CC) equity structure also makes room for all future senior employees to gain equity. Omaruru is Dan's hometown and ONGUZA exists to make sure people in Omaruru have opportunities for high value craftsmanship with the training and equity necessary to make a real, fundamental difference in the community. We are hoping more businesses in Namibia see our model and realize there is greater prosperity for all when it's done this way.

Look very nice and the involvement and ownership of locals is good. But if they're relying on selling $9k+ bikes as 'jewellery' as Dan seems to want to, I'm not sure that's likely to do too well given the imminent reckoning the industry is headed for.
Dan is the top class. Really love what they are doing and adding a story to something where so many are just highlighting grams. If I was in the market and one day I hope to be I’d without hesitation put my trust in Dan and all the special people who are involved in this project. Wishing them the best of luck.

Did a 9day bike packing trip through Lesotho over some ROUGH stuff on their Goat gravel bike. It handled like a beast. Super nimble and light but solid and comfy over long days. Beautiful bikes, world class quality / craftsmanship. 👌

Those are great looking bikes and nicely made. It good to see a creative aesthetic being applied, more than just "lighter/stiffer/faster".

No native Africans owning bike businesses, bike tours, or bike events. Very disturbing and depressing set of videos from Namibia, a land plundered and colonized by Europeans who apparently never left.
As an Asian and a person of color, this doesn't seem welcoming and patronizing these businesses seems to enable the post-colonial white savior mentality.
I do hope you can feature native Africans and get their honest viewpoints.
