Just a note of appreciation for your content. I never tire of your videos and that's because of the combination of your knowledge and your integrity. If I'm ever in a position to build a house in the country, you can be sure it will be a "Noah Bradley" house.
As always, the information you have to share is absolutely invaluable to the owner builder like me! Thanks so much Noah for continuing to put out this amazing content.
The last home I built had the most perfect masons sand we found while digging the basement area. A mason friend of mine hauled away five dump trucks full of it for other homes in the area. In turn he brought me some topsoil when we back filled around my house. I always try to use something off the building sight to use in home construction. Mostly in the form of logs or large rocks. The importance of this is to find something I can use from the land on which the house sits.
Dunno if you guys gives a shit but if you are bored like me atm then you can watch pretty much all of the latest series on instaflixxer. I've been binge watching with my brother during the lockdown :)
I thought you were going to say that the problem with river sand is that it's more round and not angular. I don't know how much of a difference that makes. Seems like "manufactured sand" or "stone dust" might be slightly better for mortar mixes.
@Noah: I really enjoyed your video. Several years ago I built a 5'x5' sandbox for my children. I lined the bottom with heavy plastic to keep ants from building there and at night I covered it with plastic to keep the cats from using it as a litter box. Lol. Located in the nearest small town was a plant that made cement blocks. They gave a person free sand if you were using it for children. I borrowed a friend's heavy duty pick-up truck to get the sand for the box and it had a regular sized bed. I thought it would only take one good load of sand (fine sand) in the pick-up for that sandbox. Boy, was I wrong! Lol. It took two. So I can not imagine digging it up & hand hauling it up to your work site. That's determination! Thank you for sharing. I learned a lot.
Nice to join you again...I was hoping to join the Stone Mason class...but was not able to calculate the cost...as I had taken the Log Home Class...What would be the cost of joining the Stone Mason Class vs simply paying for all 3 with the inclusive membership...Please let me know as you are able...
It's possible, but not in a haste. Gathering salvage material is the best way. There's a lot of that, but if you want that house finished by a certain time, you will pay dear.
I’m dying to move to Tennessee and build a log cabin. Think I was born in the wrong time. Everyone is in a hurry. No one cares about nature around here. You can’t even get a good biscuit.
Romans added a little volcanic ash(potsulanum) and it set even underwater. Never try to use beach sand unless you wash out the salt. Two useless facts but I'm tryin.😝😝😝

I could barely buy a square foot of land between an industrial area and an offramp for $499.00. now I can't afford to sand.
;(
