the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.

Another fabulous video SBC.. Scott Of SBC renovated our kitchen, which was at least 40yrs old... an amazing job was done . Scott did set up a sink in our dining room ,plus dust covers as we were living in the house the whole time the kitchen was being renovated! So well
Done. The finishing was superb too. 😎
    I highly recommend SBC.

As a kind of long time viewer I still appreciate the work and thought that went into your videos so much. The little snippets out of your life make it so much more honest to me, for example the thought of you sitting at the beach and filming those intros or just the cat rubbing its head against the post and getting a pet from you after. And don't get me started on the entertaining and craftsmenship levels you put on display there. Keep 'em coming, much love from a joiner from Germany.

Due to a flood in our house, we once went 8 months without a "kitchen". I did a makeshift job reusing the existing counters and some 4x4 posts, we did have the range and fridge which was a plus but no cupboards or storage space. No running water sink either, it was a bucket to fill from the bathtub and slop out when done. Always run lifting up layers of lino, plywood, more lino, more plywood....5 layers if I remember in total, then we had to repair the floor structure from the damage. Quite an experience, although the end result was a very nice kitchen. we had planned a remodel as part of the overall house but not the kitchen at that moment in time.

that's the challenge when doing additions and renovations, is that the owner/family maybe still living in the home unless they have alternative living arrangements. And with large extensions, especially upper-floors, the occupants will have to tough out conditions temporarily as it gets a bit rough during the process. Sometimes eating at the in-laws and friends, or bbq out the back, sharing the ensuite while 1 bathroom gets done and then switching to complete the other.

I like doing kitchens and installing them is money for old rope. How all these guys can function doing the same thing every day I don't know. No wonder the suicide rate is so high on the building. Kinda missed the "Scott Brown here" greeting!
The material shortages getting global, here in the Netherlands we have the same issues. Sunscreen or windows screens have a delivery time of more than 12 weeks.

Interesting to see the timber racks so empty, while Ports of Tauranga must have a few hundred thousand tons of logs sitting waiting for export.

Great video as always. Kitchens are always fun IMHO. Of course, I am a bit biased since that's my specialty. Definitely give cabinet building and fitting a go if you get a chance! I find it immensely satisfying. Right now I am working to get my custom carpentry business to the point to that cabinets are all I do... Not there yet though.
Are the majority of the cabinets in NZ frameless? It seems like a number of renovations you've done had frameless cabinets in the kitchen... Both framed and frameless have their advantages but the system32 frameless cabinet is really a work of engineering. But the beauty and craftsmanship of framed cabinets is satisfying putting together.
As always, enjoy the videos. Best wishes from Detroit!

any thought to making the "smoko time" hoodie with the print on the back and a small S.B.C logo front, would be really keen on that

I'm having to wait 3 months for a Veddinge IKEA Corner cabinet front! FFS! 12 weeks, and you can't order it. You can just be notified when it's in stock; IF that works!

Hey, Scott. I noticed that there is no insulation when you strip the Gib board on the kitchen exterior wall. Did you add new insulation before covering it with new Gib board? If no, why? Just curious 🤔
PS: I am from The Philippines and a draftsman for more than 5 years. Our client is from NZ 😂 been following and watching your as basis for our renovation/alteration jobs. Your videos really helped us a lot!
