Anyone here in advent 2020? This song was one of my favorites to sing in choir. Here’s hoping the pandemic is over by next winter and choirs can sing together again and nobody has to be afraid or risk their life.
Have you heard the sounds of the angel voices Ringing out so sweetly, ringing out so clear? Have you seen the star shining out so brightly As a sign from God that Christ the Lord is here? Have you heard the news that they bring from Heaven To the humble shepherds who have waited long? Gloria in excelsis, Deo Gloria in excelsis, Deo Hear the angels sing their joyful song He is come in peace in the winter's stillness Like a gentle snowfall in the gentle night He is come in joy like the sun at morning Filling all the world with radiance and with light He is come in love as the child of Mary In a simple stable, we have seen his birth Gloria in excelsis, Deo Gloria in excelsis, Deo Hear the angels singing Peace on Earth He will bring new light (He will bring new light) to a world in darkness Like a bright star shining in the skies above He will bring new hope (He will bring new hope) to the waiting nations When he comes to reign in purity and love Let the Earth rejoice (Let the Earth rejoice) at the Saviour's coming Let the Heavens answer (Let the Heavens answer) with the joyful mourn Gloria in excelsis, Deo Gloria in excelsis, Deo Hear the angels singing, Christ is born Hear the angels singing, Christ is born
This has been my favourite for at least 20 years! So happy to be playing piano for a 120-voice choir doing this wonderful piece in December! I get chills every time we rehearse!
I discovered this piece just a few weeks ago through my local classical station and fell in love. For this picture I must admit I have never seen a rooster proclaiming Christ's birth, in Latin.
Thank God for His grace given to us in Jesus. He is indeed the Saviour of the world. I am so grateful that I have heard the Christmas message and believe it with all my heart. Christ has changed my life! From selfishness to love, from hopelessness to real hope, from guilt and shame to an acceptance before God because of Christ's ghastly sacrifice. Thank You Jesus!
Have you heard the sound of the angel voices …. this is my favorite Christmas song performed by the most angelic like choir voices! Gloria in excelsis Deo!
Just adore this compilation. Listen to it all day, every day. Calm descends. Every year. Thank you for giving us such a powerful ray of light in this troubled world
This is one of the most wonderful albums of Christmas songs in the last time. Each pieces of John Rutter compositions and arragments are a marvellous example of pure emotions and fantastic art. ¡No comments, no words! ¡Beautiful, superb, extraordinary!
Well, apparently there are a lot of words actually, but I take your meaning. 😉 Splendid, excellent, splendiferous, magnificent, stunning, shining and sparkling, are some of the words that can be used. ^____^ Glorious also comes to mind. ^____^
The Littlest Angel brought me here. It was almost 25 years ago since I saw that motion picture as a little child, and this song that was used for the soundtrack never left my memories. Really beautiful and calming, it touches my soul still.
Have been searching this for ages... Was first introduced to this song 10 years ago in elementary school during our Christmas celebration ceremony. Couldn't remember the lyrics but the melody, so I thought, it could be a John Rutter song... And it is indeed
A friend introduced me to it just this morning and I have not stopped playing it since. I feel like Angels are singing in front of me. Thank you John Rutter et al! God Bless!
Worle school 1988. 5th year choir plus solo piano accompaniment by 14 year old boy. Arranged by Howard Sayer, music teacher. Utterly amazing and much better than this rendition. I still have the tape. Absolutely joyous, and worthy of the great John Rutter.
Now i KNOW i have heard the angels voices, i thought my choir was good at this song, and then i heard this and thought my choir was simple childs play... still love my choir though! #SPIVEYFAM4EVER
I am going to be playing this on a theatre organ. I wonder what the sound quality would be if it was played on a big organ like the 1862 Cavaille-Coll organ at St. Sulpiece. Vierne wrote a lot of soft pieces. If you have heard the stop arrangements Vierne did use when he played one of his famous meditation pieces, I would use the stop registration on this one similar to the one Vierne used in his days.
I know I'm alone in not liking this setting (too comfy and saccharine for the scene it describes). It didn't help that I first heard it in a bad rendition. On the other hand, Rutter's setting of What Sweeter Music is my absolute favorite carol.
So sad for you - nice performance is all the higher this wonderful piece of music regsiters for you; listen again, and again and again if need be. The tradition of British choral music at Christmastime is one of the world's greatest treasures. Do some digging and listening; give it some time and it will enrich your soul. Merry Christmas!
@@chuckstranahan5600 Thank you for saying this. It is all about education and learning isn't it? My eyes has been opened watching Cantebury Cathedral (on line) from the US in this pandemic. I have been completely changed.
Oh God forbid the brits sing Christmas carols. Its a tradition here to sing at catherdals. We don't go "could do without the annoying American accent" everytime your people sing songs....
This is the most BEAUTIFUL CHRISTMAS CAROL. So glad I found the words

Same actually I miss the choir a lot by now and hope I can sing with my friends again!
My choir will sing this song in December for the xmas concert:) Im glad things are going back to normal now, at least here.
Well, it isn't over but it is getting safer.
Some parts of the world, anyway.
És una cançó meravellosa , la cantarem enguany al nostre poble per Nadal 2022 a L'Espluga de Francolí .
We sing this song in our school-christmas concert in one and a half weeks ✌️
Every time I hear the rising notes of "Gloria" I just catch my breath. God bless you, John Rutter

Missing the school carol service...loved hearing the girls sing this
when the soprano voice goes... "He will bring new light to a world in darkness..." oh such beauty, such joy! such love!

Mimmo Scibilia is my friend sings with him v nice
Me 22.12.2021
Unvergänglich schön
Ja - immer wieder!
For those who are very well in knowing the key signatures, I think this one starts out in F Major and then it moves up a whole step to G Major.
Sorry, what is your point? And is "step" an American thing?
@@MsGrandunion It's the key signature the song may be written in or at least sung in.
@@patrickrichmond9896 wrong. it modulates up one whole tone, nothing to do with steps.
@@MsGrandunion Step is American for tone

❤️
Anyone here because they remembered the littlest angel movie??
Ok
2025 !!
Bad pronouncinacion of 'excelsis', as all american choirs do.
This is an English choir.
Could do without the British accents, but otherwise nice performance.
It needs a southern drawl
