- To fully appreciate the depths of Suspiria (2018), we must first understand the historical context that shaped its narrative. Ghouls unravel the chilling historical backdrop that shaped the film's narrative. Set in Cold War-era Berlin, Suspiria draws eerie parallels to the Nazi regime's lasting impact on German society, from the systematic control over women's bodies to the lingering scars of fascist propaganda. We explore the disturbing legacy of Nazi child-rearing practices, the rise of nationalist ideologies, and the generational trauma that continued to thrive in post-WWII Germany. Discover how this dark history intertwines with the sinister world of Suspiria and sets the stage for its unsettling tale of power, manipulation, and rebellion.
I'm really enjoying these Suspiria videos, thanks...though I've come to them out of order - youtube promoted the second one to me first, but I followed that back to your channel, and was delighted to see two others!
Good stuff, not enough people give Suspiria '18 its due. I'll definitely subscribe to your channel, though via my personal profile, as this is our film profile, and I don't use it much in a 'watching' capacity.
Speaking of which (and I'm not generally rude enough to recommend our own videos via someone else's, but you seem to be genuine fans of this film, so I figure it might be something you'd appreciate is all) we did our own deep dive video on it, that you might like. Not trying to promote our own channel off the back of yours, we just seem to have a shared passion for this film, and I know personally I like to catch any new positive takes on this underappreciated work. Please delete if inappropriate.
We're glad you are enjoying our coverage of the film! Just for clarification, we have one video that is our full episode and then we split that into two separate videos for people who are interested in just the film review OR the history components. This is our History section, so you could watch the Film section with Gabe to get the complete story but won't need to watch the full one.
We'll check out your channel and what you've covered. We're always up for connecting with other creators and hearing about other interpretations of films.
@@GhoulsNextDoor Yeah I discovered what you'd done regards splitting the video, but watched all three anyway, haha. I dig this film so much that it was worth it to me. Anyway, those two halves make a great whole.
Hope you like our thoughts on Suspiria - I pretty much made the channel when I did to get my thoughts about it off my chest, hence why there's not much else there, at least as yet.
