Those who think that WWII was all fun and shooting should watch this video and im reffering to the people who play a lot of WWII shooter games and think its all fun killing nazis but not knowing that each and one person who was killed in WWII and im talking about the Russians, Germans, Americans and so on that those were people and each person had hopes... dreams... that they will live another day and not die in the next day or minute. Hopes that they will see the end of the war but so much death and this video showed how easily and fast death came upon them and for some it was slow and torturing. At the end.... It doesnt matter who they were. Russians, Nazis, Americans?! All that matters is that those were people each one of them who didnt get to see another day...... another sunrise.... another sunset.... its sad thinking about all those senseless deaths.

@Samseal16 That depends if you are couting the battle around Stalingrad, which i was, and, you are technically right, the battle itself lasted 7 and a 1/2 months. But if you include the retreat to stalingrad, it was around (just less) than 2 years, when the fighting afterwards is included.

The American and Commonweath forces had diffrent objectives in the Invasion of Normandy, they went diffrent way's but supported each other none the less. Someone should make a movie following the brits or somthing from there beach landings to Caen. :)
It was actually only 10,000 people, and i agree with you, other than you must remember they are different types of battles. One was a Battle that went through phases, (Blitzkrieg, Stalemate, Encirclement) and the other was an amphibious landing, and i think you will agree you can't really make an amphibious landing last 2 years.
@ILOVE311 very true, BUT the conditions of fighting were so much worse at Stalingrad, and you also have to remember, the casualties at the British and Canadian beaches, as well as Utah to a lesser extend sustained very small number of casualties. And, that one day was also not the same type of Battle that Stalingrad was, so in actuality, the time-frame of Stalingrad makes it worse. Which would you rather endure? after all, at least D-Day was only 1 day.....
@SkullKing11841 actually they confirmed in 2007 or 2008 (cant exactly remember) on the british BBC news that there were a small minority of british troops on omaha.... one of the people spoke saying that the americans were trying to cover it up or something
