The reason to flank in this game for me is less as an alternate route to the objective and more as a means to break up and redirect enemy numbers to be more spread out and potentially more vulnerable in the key choke points. I focus on delaying and sidetracking as many people away from the objectives and central areas for as long as possible.
this line of thinking will help you in any sort of bigger scale multiplayer war game. battlefield is a good example. you think like this in a bf rush game and you can and will influence and win games on your own. no one will ever notice of course but i see you and your big brain plays bro there's at least 2 of us out here looking at the bigger picture lol
I follow a similar thinking , but I typically flank as a way of saving my teammates lives as the more of us that are alive makes it easier to have consistent strength in numbers
I also realized this after playing a few hours. If I could hold back 2-4 or more players from a fresh enemy spawn for even a few more seconds it might allow 2-4 or more of my teammates to exploit the gaps created by those side tracked players and they wouldn’t be able to for a proper line or stop our advance. Likewise, if I could swing around an enemy assault line with a couple of lads we could peel off a sizable number of them and take the pressure off of our defensive line
Purposely spreading them will make their line thin so when a few players die on one side means the attackers have the advantage to decide to push forward or flank the remaining enemies. Usually a stack can sometimes rally together in a cluster and become a deathstack when they coordinate to guard a specific point like the courtyard of Rulhelm but there are ways to separate them. Mainly by attacking from all sides instead of gunning for the stairs, projectiles like firepot and ballista to take them down or to bait out stragglers if the defenders decide to spread out a little to gain more space but in doing so they weaken their core.
My sister got into this game, and even though she was new to fps and medieval slashers, she loves this game. The silly vibes and shit sealed the deal lol
Don't be a hero still gets me with 150+ hours. I'm pretty good usually finishing on top of my team so I get over confident at times, if I see a teammate getting outnumbered my hero mode kicks in and by the time I get to them they are usually dead and now I'll be outnumbered.
Hi just got the game on the ps5 today and this is by far the best advice for new players I've seen. I'm totally hooked in but have been getting slaughtered a lot especially in 1v1 situations. These tips are really helpful thanks
Best tips and tricks vid for this game I’ve seen so far and I’ve watched a handful. I’d love to see a video about mastering crouching swinging and how to preventing your jab when trying to crouch. Cheers!
The jab/crouching thing is a console problem. A quick single click on the right joystick will jab and if you hold the joystick down a bit longer it will crouch. In the option I put the crouch as holding instead or toogle. That way, when you accidentally crouch instead of jab, at least you don't get "stuck" crouching. But no one at torn banner cares about console problem. Throwing has been broken since day one and they won't let us remap button like on PC. The chase mechanic is also not working. You just get use to having it more difficult I guess. Good luck!
How you do those crazy slash rampages without team damage or getting interrupted? If i do this my team immediately opens a vote kick or i get rekt with interrupts
Try to counter an enemy slash and target switch to enemies around you, also use footwork to move in and out of range of enemy weapons, it just takes time and practice :)
I was getting very frustrated with this game until I got that ahha moment! Understanding the mechanics in battle will just click. For those of you that are getting frustrated just remember this, you will get your ahhaa moment as well and it’s glorious.
Thank you so much for this video I’ve watched it over and over and over again like I said previous you got a new subscriber right here and I’m very new to the game but I’m getting the hang of it really fast great video cheers my man
@@YFXHowl yes sir I got about 30 hours now into it and I dual my son and he said my god dad you are getting pretty good !! But he is soooo good …. Lol… I don’t stop I’m going to play till I get good !!!! Then keep on playing I love this game!!!
Hey shane what do you play on im from uk dont have any friends that play, iv got about 6hrs ingame but i win most of my 1v1 1v2 anymore than that i feel swarmed but if you want add me and we can be noobs together
I tend to mainly use the war axe as a knight on chivarly and I don't know if doing a "stab" with it worth it, considering how long it is and the ammount of damage it deals
Nice, the guide is really helpful, i need to check the tutorial again for some testing. I forgot some of the controls after getting my had severed too many times🤣.
I feel like that bit about spamming the same attack type getting you killed is a complete lie when you take the faster weapons into account. Players constantly sit on the top of the leaderboard doing exactly that with the faster weapons. Because balancing of attack speeds with the initiative system is pretty piss poor. Or you get people doing what you're doing in the intro and just wading in with endless highland sword slashes. The lack of an actual punish mechanic in this game makes that a viable and annoyingly commonplace strategy.
The highland sword constant spam slash in team based objectives is way too easy to profit from. People who abuse it usually get found out in 1v1’s quickly.
@@propofolkills44 it 100 percent needs less active frames on the swing, I feel like the difference in possible delay and ability to hit on backswings is way too much. I vaguely recall there being a balancing mechanic that adds active frames for each enemy contacted to enable parrying, they should tweak that to affect the HS users active frames. Less on a raw swing but add more on per hit to allow for big cleaves if placed right. Just for fuck's sake stop people from whiffing insanely hard and then casually sidestepping a fully stopped blade into my cheek for a 1 hit kill.
Stumbled upon this vid in my recommendeds, saw that you were fighting players i recognised. From the killfeed I guess you must be Howl, right? I'm SAK LovEO :)
although I like chivalry 2 I wish there was a game like it that was much more simplistic to many mechanic leave a lot of things to be manipulated by those subscription websites
how to save stamina - jump early and often, and hold block while crouching. also - there is nothing more offensive than jabbing someone to death with horse poop. not even throwing it.
I won't lie, I prefer to stick to the slash attack because on a controller it's actually hard to aim at the guy to land an hit and if you miss an hit you're usually fucked I also tend to be annoyed by how quick most of the time I die, like just taking off my parry and then eating all of the hit, not having one single of landing of attack, and I also feel like I tend to abuse the heavy attacks too much
That is true, Chivalry is much harder on controller, but there are console players that do extremely well with overheads and stabs. A lot of it just comes down to muscle memory, so practice makes perfect :))
How I been playing is just take every fight I can even if I kill die; I just find it easier to fight everybody and learn that way (it’s most likely the worst habit I have but oh well.
I do this also sometimes get a good multi kill shorty to die again haha I try go for the enemy who is holding of a few team mates at once , my weapon of choice is Danish axe :)
As a new player, my biggest problem is that there are too many things to learn at ones. More experienced players will do counters, blocks, feints, dragging special attacks which is pretty hard to identify as a new player. As a result you keep dying without understanding what he did. + there are too many rules that are illogical - they are only there to enforce a combat flow, you must memorize them - when you stamina is wasted and restored and how much stamina does something costs in a given situation, hen you have the initiative - it is too much. I do not recommend this game if you are not a god in Mortal Kombat already. I was really hyped because I love medieval stuff, but the game is way too hard for time-to-time gamers, I wanted to have some fun for the weekend it ended up me killing 10 people for 8 hours of gameplay in 1v1 Duels and in regular matches.
right right, 20 sec into video, mindset, defense... sure great info. BUT how the fuck are you running in the beginning of the vid with greatsword, swinging left and right and nody fucking blocks and counters ya? :D Its all I need to know, thx! :D
lmao, I will make another more advanced guide very soon :D What I can tell you though - it's that timing is key to everything, it cannot be taught, just learned from experience Though countering your opponents attacks and then dragging your weapon across enemies generally has the same effect as what you saw in the beginning of the video xD

@@YFXHowl yeah, figured as much :D I am grinding experience right now, slowly getting there, sometimes I feel like I know what I am doing, so there is that.. @ no weapon in the game is a cheese weapon, I main long sword, war axe, and battle axe, and hate using spears because their slashes are pokes. I'd even use katars over spears. if you specialize in the spear mechanic that's skill well atleast from my perspective.
I feel like every company needs a cash cow game so they can use that money to fuel their passion projects. That way the passionate players can get what they want from that developer in either free content updates or even large updates in the form of one time dlc payments and the casual money pushers players can get their fix through free to play micro transactions games. Everyone’s happy this way because doing it EAs way doesn’t work, putting predatory micro transactions and battle passes in every franchise kills the games. CoD is the only ones that have the money to provide the creative manpower and polish to make decent enough content in micro transaction form.
Great guide from a based GigaChad Chivalry player, you sir are a gentleman and a scholar. I recently started playing ChivII again, so this is very useful. Thumbs up!!
All you need in this game is a good ping. The rest doesn't matter. The netcode and hit registration is so bad that it's impossible to beat a player with an 18-20 pig.
Hey thanks for the vid iv got about 6hrs gameplay now level 12, i play vanguard-raider, love the speed and beserker kind of playstyle woth the 2 handed weapons, archers are my nemesis but now i know i can TRY and stop arrows i will practice haha, anyone wanna party up add me xbl gt (iicallum95ii) all caps

Vanguard messer I think
I was using a 'Knight - Greatsword' and 'Vanguard - Messer' throughout the video.
