I am working on a 1982 evinrude 35 hp remote that needed a new ignition switch...when you get in to wiring it seems like a whole other story as far as easy vs non easy!! good video thanks
Hey, the switch should be too difficult. On mine all the wires are connected with little bolts. You can google the wiring diagram. With this video I was just trying to show as much as I could since most videos dont really explain about what is going on inside much. Thanks

Hello, mine won't shift. But I disconnected at engine and can shift with the levers there. What part inside controller might be bad? Thank you
My controller will only allow me to go forward. It won’t return to neutral all the way and won’t go in reverse. Can you please help me
You need to take it apart and watch the video carefully most likely there's nothing gripping the cables or you should be able to figure it out pretty easily when you open it up and just move the handle. The controller is very self-explanatory.
@@cenkaetaya I found the issue. It was the plastic gear that engages the throttle gear. One of the teeth was broken and threw off the alignment. Thank you for getting back to me. Is it possible to remove the old one and take one from a donor ?
@@treyt6765 yeah pretty much all the controllers are almost the same. You'll be able to know right away if it works or not.
I have an old Evinrude Power Pro for my Johnson GT150. Power pro parts are old and worn, I’m looking to replace entire throttle control side mount. Any suggestions for replacing with a new throttle side mount That still hooks up roughly the same as far as shifting and choke linkages go?
Not too sure, I generally go the buy a used controller on craigslist and use its parts or the whole thing.
Thank you for the video. I have a question sir. On my 94 Johnson 40 hp while night fishing when I turned the switch a weak alarm sounded in the controller and my tac and fuel gauge would jump but the boat would not start. I took off the auto oiler years ago. It does not appear the battery is low and getting ready to do a load test. If battery is bad would it sound the alarm? I also tried boosting with my Noco jumper on the water. Slow trolled in for 3 hours on Tn River. What all does that alarm control?
I am in the process of drilling out the heardware that holds the box together. Any tips getting the hardware out?

amazing video i bought a used boat with the controller needing fixed and the guy was talking about that ball im hoping you could point me in a direction where or how i can fix it i have a switch that has the 3 buttons from another controller but want to do it right if you have any tips would be amazing

Same here but for a sohrt time my motor going in revers but he start like he ia neutral???
I got a 1974 115 evenrude and the Control was sloppy I tightened it up an now it won’t even turn over The throttle tensioner doing nothing it’s just sloppy flopping around
the changes in neutral and the manual throttle does not work I put change and if it works it should be

I don’t think that’s a choke lever, it’s only for warming the motor. The choke is operated by pressing the key in when starting via a solonoid on the motor, has a little red knob on the solonoid for manual choke.
Throttle advance. You are correct it's not a choke.
What type of grease should you use? And did you ever fix the neutral recognition switch issue?
I used quicksilver Multi-Purpose 2-4-C Marine Lubricant. Yes, after cleaning everything / fresh lubricant the controller is working great.

great video, but he didn't explain how to repair the shift button at the top of the shifter. I was really looking for that info.
The one for motor trim up and down?
@@cenkaetaya No the one for removing the shift lever and fixing the squeeze button at top of shift lever which allows you to put motor into F-N-R and speed up.

Check Craigslist they have those listed there quite frequently. Just search boat within a certain price range and you should come upon one.
I REALLY NEED THIS INFORMATION; HOWEVER, YOUR CONSTANT QUICK MOVEMENTS WITH YOUR POINTER MAKES ME SO DIZZY I CANNOT WATCH...ALSO YOUR POINTER COLOR BLENDS IN WITH THE BACKGROUND MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE AND FOLLOW. TRY AGAIN..??
And it will not go in reverse on the Control only go forward
Is the control itself not going into reverse or is it the engine?
It was turning over The controller was loose I tightened it up and It won’t do anything
I think it’s the control because I had a hard time trying to get it to go in and drive to reverse it did it a couple times and now It won’t do nothing
@@samtate1260 I would take it apart and take a look inside. It's got to be something simple.
1 more thing make sure the motor isn't actually stuck in forward. It will start up in forward gear just fine and it may not be immediately apparent.
Its a high idle lever , not a choke
can also be called throttle advance.
