Installing our Insulated Metal Panel Roof!!! Our New Ruin in Portugal! Ready for Winter (mostly).

- Our renovations are paying off! We (mostly) finished installing our roof! Finally!!! The insulated roof panels are amazing and our house was 2° warmer within the first hour!!! (Even with the holes in the wall waiting to be patched)
Just a few more odds & ends to finish and our house will be completely watertight and mosquito free!!!
Our ruin is starting to feel like a home! ❤️

CONGRATULATIONS, YOU CHOSE THE BEST TILE, IT INSULATES THE COLD, THE HEAT AND THE WATER!
Thank you! We chose it for the insulation value, easy installation, and cost-effective. It's also 5 times lighter than the traditional clay roof tiles so we could have gone with less framework but we like the style and additional support with more structure.
Proud of you Grant, you didn't pat the roof when you said it wasn't going anywhere......great job guys!

Thanks! Grant had to do most of the work because I’m a big 🐓 when it comes to ladders and scaffolding. I did make it up to the peak of the roof twice. I was starting to hyperventilate and I felt like I was going to puke… so not very helpful. 🤷🏼♀️

As for the rascally kitties I think I need to rethink our Christmas decorations. Something tells me a traditional tree would last about 5 minutes with these guys. 🐈⬛ 🎄 🐈

@@deborahwhite2339 I’ve had cats in the Christmas tree before but I don’t think any amount of fishing line will save a tree from these monkeys. I also was very selective in the ornaments we brought with us so I don’t think I have anything cat proof at the moment.
Fortunately I almost have my woodshop set up so it will soon become like Santa’s Workshop! 🎅🏽🎄

I just had a good laugh!! 🤣🤣🤣As I was watching the yellow cat walk/play on the ground as you guys were pushing the last roof panel onto the roof (at around the 21:46 min. part of the video), the cat was going to lie down and just vanished !!! 😲 Must've been a part that you edited at exactly that point and it seems that the cat vanished into the ground !!! 😂😂My first reaction was that there was a hole and he/she fell in and you guys didn't even notice, but when I went back to watch that part again, I realized what really had happened. Did you notice?

That Orange kitty is Joe. He’ll be going to his new home early December so I guess he wanted to become famous before he leaves. He is a funny little monkey even without my editing. 🐈 ❤️

As I watched that part a few times already ( I laugh so much every time I watch it ) I came up with a funny thought....and it goes like this; He starts meowing at you saying; Mommy, I want attention....mommyyyyyy????? mommyyyyyyyyy??? ok, you don't care? fine, I'm going to vanish....so he walks away and...poof ....gone !! 🤣🤣🤣I also have an orange, very friendly older cat that showed up around my property about 7 yrs ago, I started feeding him and he never left 🤗
@@maresp61 he's very cute! If we didn't have too many cats we would keep him for sure. He is so affectionate and very smart. I can guarantee he was meowing at us and finally gave up and walked away. I ❤️ ginger cats 🐈
@@notyouraveragegringos Yes, I believe that ginger cats are very affectionate and love attention . The one I have is not a house cat because of all the dogs but every time I'm in the garden he shows up and hangs around me and follows me everywhere. Too bad that one was adopted instead of the other ones 🥰
@@maresp61 He’s going to a friend so we will get to cuddle with him when we visit them!
All of the kittens are affectionate and we are keeping one little ginger kitty. Gina is the orphan kitten that snuck into our house and she is a bit shy but very affectionate. She had a rough start and it has taken a while for her to be comfortable around us so she will have a permanent home here. She’s extra special because ginger kitties are almost always boys. The vet checked her twice to be sure and was very surprised she’s a girl.
The two black kitties DJ and Rocky are very chatty and demanding and they all follow us around.

Thank you! It's a relief to get it done before winter. The forecast was right, a solid week of rain and it started about half an hour after we finished the roof!
We're happy to report no leaks in the new roof. It feels so much warmer and drier already. ☺
