I'm terrible at selecting what I would read lately 😂 I'm finding myself falling into things at random. Which can be both good and bad. But I'm going with the flow.
I have just started reading Dungeon Crawler Karl 😂 I'll be honest. I'm actually enjoying it. It's fun. And I love that. It's refreshing. I'll see how I feel the further I progress 😅
I'm also enjoying a bit of Frankenstein again. I'm taking my time to notice new things in it. It's really nice.
Lovely selection of books from you again.

Very cool to hear you've worked with Stephen Baxter, last year I read Timelike Infinity and Ring, recently picked up the SF Masterworks edition of Raft, would love to hear you speak more about his works and hear your thoughts!

Oooo! I love Dickens and Collins! I love your idea! It would be so fun to read! I hope you make it to Scotland or anywhere else that feels spooky to you! I would read Gift of the Magi first, on the 25th, Christmas in July, as they say! I am presently reading Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. I read it when it first came out and fell in love with it. My husband bought me the new Folio Society edition, so I am in heaven rereading it! Then I have some poetry and folklore books lined up!

i never tackled 'jonathan strange' because the print was so tiny and i loathe footnotes! it's worth perservering, though?

@@paulmagrs-g8n This is exactly why I was thrilled to get the Folio Society edition. It is broken up into 3 volumes and the print is much nicer. The footnotes are fun, but you don't have to read them to understand the story. They are like historical footnotes, little bits of extra information. Almost like you would find in the appendices of the LOTR trilogy. If you want to learn more of her world building and lore. But the story, the actual book, doesn't need them. They are there for fun and you can go back and read them at your leisure for laughs! As for the story itself, definitely worth the read! I absolutely love it! A bit Dickensian, fun and adventurous, very unique!

The Last Leaf by O. Henry is one of my favourite stories. It's so sad and wonderful - if you can put those two words together. I am currently reading Black Narcissus by Rumer Godden. It's lovely for those long, slow summer days. I bought the film on DVD at the same time because it is one of my favourites. Unfortunately I put it in the DVD player and it got stuck. It's been one of those weeks.

it's a wonderful book and film ! i read it in about 2001. I read 'the last leaf' because of my friend visiting the garden and hearing the story - and was so glad to get to read it.

I think your tee is cute, too! Hello to gorgeous Socks (night owl). Loved your video, as usual Paul. You’re so interesting, funny, and a bit eccentric, and adorable. Was wondering if you have read Capote’s ‘A Christmas Memory’ published in 1956. I read it about 33 years ago and it touched me so that I couldn’t stop crying….it was beautiful with only 2 characters. I’ve been quite blissful the last 2 days since President Biden passed the torch to Kamala! I feel a bit of hope for the future of the US now, and that’s a huge relief. Thanks again, sending peace and kisses for Socks❤

Well my comment went off somewhere so I will paraphrase O'Henry yes ; from my childhood ( the gift thingy) and how to cope with no money. The idle Dickens and Wilkie ; sourced immediately after your video on the international archive and that Inverted Universe one . Do they do a little house on the prairie omnibus ; flipping through the two books for comparison etc sounds great . The bodysnatcher one ; it may sound funny but people seemed to be like that during my grief . Found a reading room for a £5 a day ; old library coal fire style ; nobody uses it . But I have a jigsaw puzzler and a 3D (now you see it now you dont)knitting friend . We have unlimited availability and I think I may just have to move in for part of the week. Busy busy busy . Read Dickens intro to the Idler thingy and bed . Your new book ; order Thursday at Library on release day . Boom gone. Ickle reference book on Hemingway's Paris Cafe life ; it's a dipper inner but nice . ( Moveable feast ) . Boom gone again. P..S had to come back this morning and say The Ghost of Art is funny ; my favourite so far in the idler thingy.

Hmmmm you’re rereading Dracula for research for something you can’t talk about (as mentioned in previous video) and now you mention a collaboration project with ‘episodes’ 🤔
I know you can’t confirm but I’m gonna take a stab and guess you might be working on Fio and Georgia’s Dracula audio drama project. 🙂
