  • Let’s talk about a 100-percent ambidextrous, semi-automatic, striker-fired pistol from the Cold War. Oh, and while we’re at it, let’s toss in the fact that it’s a 9mm blowback that uses a gas-delayed recoiling system.
The HK P7 PSP is a perfect blend of German ingenuity made to meet a moment in history. That moment was 1972 at the Olympic Games in Munich, where 7,134 athletes from around the world gathered to compete. Tragedy unfolded as the entire world watched terrorists from the now infamous Black September group kill two Israeli athletes and take nine others hostage. The remaining hostages were eventually killed as the German police attempted to seize control of the situation.

The P7M8 is near the top of my unicorn list. So indelibly German.

I suspect that finish is an electroless nickel, likely Robar's Np3 that was very popular in the 80s. I had a few guns finished in Np3 back in the day.

That one is the best looking one I’ve seen and wish they were everywhere cheap because I would buy one but we have so many amazing guns that are as good or better and can’t justify buying one as much as I like them

There was no Stainless Steel on a P7. Stainless is an actual metal, not a coating. PSPs, M8s, and K3s were all issued in blue. Some M13s and M10s were offered in Nickle. Most of the aftermarket finishes were hard chrome or NP3. Your appears to be NP3 which had a greyish to greenish/grey hue. As a P7 owner, this is one of the safest guns ever developed. While the manual of arms is very different from the norm, it is exceedingly simple. It can go from completely safe to fire and back to safe faster than any other gun using a mechanical safety system. The 1911 can be as fast from safe to fire, but not necessarily the reverse. Today, there may be smaller, lighter, guns designed for concealed carry, these were intended as a service or duty weapon. It is a full sized weapon, not a compact, yet it can be concealed as well as most compacts, or sub compacts.

    It’s not stainless.
It a matt hard chrome finish or some form of plating that was applied to the slide.

GSG9 is not a military unit. "SG 9 der Bundespolizei, formerly Grenzschutzgruppe 9 (English: Border Protection Group 9), is the police tactical unit of the Bundespolizei the German Federal Police." Great gun. wish it wasn't so expensive.

The Bundespolizei, formerly Bundesgrenzschutz was in fact a paramilitarian organisation from 1951 until 2005. Until 1995 they was privileged combatants in the legal sense of Article 5 of the Third Geneva Convention. I don't know if it was told, the P7 can also be shot by pulling the trigger and then press the cocking lever. In the '90s I was a soldier in the german army, the Feldjaegertruppe (Military Police), and the P7 was one of our daily carry guns. (I hope my english is somewhat understandable)

@@5c00t3r1976 Much better reply than mine. I was going from what I had read about it and the formation of Delta Force, and their working together. You would know much more than I. thanks for the reply.

Best pistol ever made bar none. Way too many pluses to list.
Disadvantages.....it's no longer made and it's used price has gone through the roof.
PS Slide is most probably plated, not stainless. I'm assuming same for barrel as it's magnetic.

I think you are thinking of the Walter ccp that has a delayed blowback piston system similar to the HK p7
