    Leica M cameras and lenses: Either you get it or you don't. It's that simple. Prior to 2003, I didn't get it. Then I bought a film MP 0.72 and a 50mm Summilux. I got it. Immediately. The M10 Monochrom takes the concept of "either you get it or you don't" to another level. This camera is staggering. If it were a violin, it would be a Stradivarius. I do not own one of these masterpieces yet but I will. I am moving heaven and earth to get the $8300 USD price of admission together. It is just a matter of time until the FedEx guy hands me a box with my M10 Monochrome inside.
    With regard to "an M camera with EVF," there is no such thing. If Leica were to remove the coupled rangefinder mechanism and replace it with EVF technology, the camera would no longer be an M camera. It would be a Leica Q2 with interchangeable lenses.
    I would not be opposed to such a camera, but NOT at the cost of the extinction of the M camera /lens line.

    I shoot with a Nikon Z6, but seeing and reading all about the M10 Monochrom encouraged me to shoot more black and white. It is challenging and difficult, but it's a lot of fun.

    Finally! I’ve been looking forward to your review since the announcement. All the other reviews did not give me the answers I knew yours would, just like with the M10-D. It ticks all the boxes and you’ve answered exactly the questions I have had, as well as told the story in a way that few others have been able to if any, covering lenses old and new, pixels and joy of use, in the very context of the Monochrom. 10 stars out of 10, also known as «likes are outdated» :). The Monochrom is a love letter in my mind. Beautiful images (also in your review!). But the only question that I have: if I had to choose between my M-A and an upgrade to the M10 Monochrom, would it be worth it? I love my M-A, but I am not sure I want to save for 3 years to afford the M10 Mono. By which time there could be an M11 with IBIS and EVF with the groundwork for an M11 Monochrom. In which case holding on to the M-A is still the wise choice :). Just wondering since you have an MP in the glowing Black Paint.

      Thank you Csaba for watching and continued support. I wanted to bring something different to this review and glad you saw that.

      Leica MA with a ton of film or invest in the Leica M10 Monochrom?

    • @csaba5415
      @csaba5415 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@splootan That’s of course something you start wondering about over a longer time, using the M-A. A huge advantage the M-A has got over the M10M is that it costs 40% of the price of the Monochrom, so you can get into the M system. Restocking film is a gradual and continuous cost and it can be more manageable than having to put photography on hold for several more years if you were to get the M10M. Besides, in an ideal world, you’d have both because they are a different experience :).

    You want to use M lenses with an EVF ? Get a SL2 for example. For half the price of a M11M I just bought a "mint" M10M and I'm sure I'll enjoy shooting with this amazing sensor. But opposite to what you said, I think it's no need to buy a 50 Apo and get the sharpest image possible in B&W. Emotion and perfection are not always best friends (e.g. Saul Leiter, even if he shot color). Thanks for sharing.

    This is the camera I dream of owning . I just purchased a Yashica Lynx 14e film camera to get the rangefinder experience and a true monochrome. I realize it’s totally different than digital.
    I can get a converted d850 monochrome and shoot all my Nikkor glass and have true monochrome. But then I miss on the renowned Leica glass and Leica rangefinder experience. So back to the Yashica Lynx rangefinder. Peace y’all

    The Leica external evf is old and not up to today technology . I love my ccd monochrom more even its a lot older but still give you film look more than the new M10 monochrom . Other disadvantage for this 47Mp is you need new /update modern M lenses to suit 47Mp m10 monochrom so your collection of vintage lenses is no good , even your noctilux f1 , your summicron 35mm asph or others similar . You need current APO lenses and the combined is not for everyone .

    • @chirag4
      @chirag4 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      M10-M is not 47 but 40MP ... and 7 MPs does make a difference, i would prefer 40 over 47 any day, rather 30 max would be ideal, but Leica doesn't think like me/us. MP war will end some time in future. MP count of 20 to 30 is sweet spot. Color science is more important than MP or DR, but Color & WB are not a concern for M-Monochrom user, one less thing to worry, that's a boon. The APO 50 & 90 summicrons are the only two of its kind in M line-up, but Leica is promoting the 35 summilux for/with M10-M and has it attached to the Monochrom in promos/adverts/commercials. The SL2 system has a 35/2 APO for those who love that focal length. Other than APO, the newer 75/1.25 Noctilux, and 90/1.5 & 28/1.4 Summilux can be paired with M10M, but those 3 are big & would block the VF.
      I am fortunate to own the Leica M10-P *white* limited edition + 50 summilux. I would have preferred 35 summilux or summicron to my 50, for easier manual-focusing, or even 28 summicron.
      Leica should upgrade the Visoflex EVF by making it high resolving, like say 5.7 MP or even more.
      I would love to have the M9-M (CCD) with a 21, 28, or 35mm lenses (recent Voigtlander etc.), or the 'Q' as a 2nd body. The 24 summilux has been discontinued.
      Warm Regards, Thanks.
      INDIA.

    Hey Bobby! Jose from Puerto Rico. Things that make no sense are usually the funest (New word). Even though that's a fine-looking camera; I personally prefer the M10-P to go the speed of a Galapagos turtle. On the other hand, when I want to stop "The Flash" on his tracks, the EOS 1DX Mark III. Having said that, any news when you'll be reviewing that beast?

    there was talk about an M with an EVF. Possibly called an M10x but who know. But I would agree about the EVF on an M camera. Now, that would tick off a lot of M shooters, kinda like when corvette when from round tail lights to whatever shape they came out with for the C7 and now the Mid engine etc. But, like you said, as we get older, so do our eyes and I would love one with an EVF. Although, I'm afraid if they do that, it might cost close to the stimulus package trump signed. 2.2 trillion!

    • @TECH360TV
      @TECH360TV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LOL Hopefully you wont get Democrats adding to the price. Will have to pay for parts unrelated to the camera hahahaha

    Two things. First, cut the “stealthy” talk when you’re walking around with the honking silver lens, ok? Second, you want an M with an evf, it’s called a CL. M stands for rangefinder and by definition, that’s not an evf. Dude!!!

      Dude!!! chill, It’s a review. Part of what we do is entertainment and the other is giving information. Did I say replace the M with one with an EVF? No. I said it’s time for one to come to market. Some like you will always be a purist, but the reality is these types of cameras are very niche and they won’t keep a company a float in the long term. I have a Leica MP film camera. Love it, work of art, but it’s not a tool I can use daily for my work.
