Kinilaw or you may call it Filipino Ceviche if you want, is not an original of Peru, in fact, we were preparing it since ancient time before Spanish Conquistadors came to colonized us, and this Kinilaw has a different souring ingredient used in it, vinegar or a citrus fruit like Calamansi, maybe they're the same prepared raw, but I tell you, this is an original of Filipinos!🤓
@@insiderob Here, if the food is coming from another country or originates abroad, we usually adapt the original names of the foodies we inherited or we associate it from which are coming from, like Pancit Canton, Paella, Valenciana, Lumpia, Lugao and many more. The fact that it is Kinilaw short is Kilaw, not in anyway sounding like Ceviche, its Filipino, it is just that, it happened the luck sometimes play that we gotten the same preparation of raw meat or fishes from how the Peruvian do theirs though different on souring agent being used.
There are many filipino Spanish cuisine or Filipino Mexican cuisine that became traditional filipino cuisine such as menudo , lechon from Spanish leche most filipinos don't know the origin of this beloved traditional lechon or roast pig but it actually a Spanish origin called leche the different is that spanish use suckling pig while in the Philippines we use the adult pig I elaborately explain this because I 'm avoiding the great bashers lol so because of Manila Acapulco Galeon Trade many south American food have reached the Philippines and kinilaw might had a Peruvian influence I would also add that the beloved Filipino Bagoong might not be a Filipino origin since Spain had influence by the Roman since the making of Bagoong have a similarity of making the Roman GARUM a kind of fish sauce perminted in jars with salt. Garum is like the filipino patis the bi - product of Bagoong
@@mikeyfraile2402 as I said in my previous reply or post, the cuisine that we derived from anywhere else in the world sometimes retain their original names or we sometimes associate it where it originates, bagoong, patis and kilawin(kilaw) are Filipino sounding names it goes to say it wasn't coppied from anywhere in the world, our Nation being an archipelago surrounded by seawater were naturally came up to such cuisine or food preparation, it just that incidentally circumstance happened we had prepared our food ways same as in the other places did, it does not mean we coppied it, it just a coincident!.🤓
