Actually this is not real gold, it is only simulation "gold" for demonstration or training purposes only. It is a copper-based alloy (by the name of Talmi) and thus there is no karat rating. It's quite cheap; probably about 5% the cost of what the gold would be if I was to actually make this crown for a patient. For the real deal, I would probably use Jalenko O which is about an 80% gold-alloy. We don't really go by karat ratings for dental metals, so I'm not sure what that would be, but I'm sure a google search could bring up results for that.
