I recently did this in Alberta Canada, at a major guitar shop. My budget was 1000$ to 3000$ in an Strat style body. They picked 5 guitars, unknown to me at the time, a Fender American, a PRS S2 Custom 24, a G&L Legacy, a Squier and a Godin Session. Same amp and room, I went by feel and sound alone. I walked away with the Godin Session HT matt black. Love it.
Shame the Ibanez wasn't tuned, or that a more expensive model than the GIO was not picked out. They're my personal favourite brand and I always find myself gravitating towards them, would have been interesting to see your take on them.
Unrelated, but you are one of the best teachers on youtube. Seriously, ive seen them all by now 😂 Very technically sound and great musicianship! Rarely do you see both in one. Many are either great players who can’t explain, or great at explaining but their playing isn’t as tight - so they overcomplicate with theory rather than practice. Honestly bro, the fact you can play so well while blindfolded blows me away. Also, maybe check out some 8s in the future, you don't have to djent on them, I know some jazz players like them for doing extended chord inversions. Oh, and the 8th is normally tuned to an F# an octave lower then the 2nd fret E on a six.
Really enjoyed this - my fave was definitely the $20k PRS though - the tone on that on clean was so balanced and complete. And your first choice was my second.
My last bass guitar I bought like this. I knew what I had in my toolbox at home, but I needed something to augment it with, so I told the clerk to start handing me basses. This was an interesting concept that just wasn't really planned that well. While Brandon played the guitar, Roy should have been grabbing the next guitar and starting to tune them so they were good to play when handed over. Still a fun video though.
