It was a fuck up on the animators side. If not rescued the lure itself sinks for however many hours. During the course of the video the scp is referred to as “It” where as the ship is referred to as “vessel”.
Maybe because he used a desert water table, he had to "charge" the ability. Or he is a massive malicious egomaniac, and wanted the Foundation to know they fucked up.

They should have impaled the raft on a radio tower on a mountain with known water flow. Being suspended by that distance might have even been a bonus motivation for the scp

That's why in many canons they have technology that it's pretty much magic, because of their findings with the anomalies they study. @@EnbySatan There is no canon in the SCP universe. So there might be literally nothing on the Moon or every single Moon-related SCP. We have to assume that whatever SCP that would work either isn't known by the researchers, doesn't exist in that canon or doesn't work for whatever reason.

The cacti in this video are saguaro and are known to only exist in the Sonora Desert (primarily in the Phoenix valley). This helicopter just traversed the entire Atlantic Ocean and also the entire United States with a ‘man’ hanging from a hook below it. Also note that the Sonoran desert is not a “sandy” desert like the Gobi Desert. It’s mostly rock formations, small shrubs, and other cacti such as the Ocotillo cactus.

I was thinking a desert would be a dangerous place bc for one the ground is less stable especially after something already moves through it and also water tables or underground reservoirs, or even extremely muddled sand underground could be enough to make a submarine. And I believe it would be harder to find underground water deposits in sand then earth, but I assumed the “safe” desert location meant they specifically made sure it had none of those rarities or even the possibility of it. Like he said they’re idiots how could they forget about the water table to be fair this is a stupid but very realistic entry I see why 05 gets so upset now. They have a super weird, old, dangerous, spacial bending anomaly and another which can like light speed shoot at boats to punch straight through them and they show up together, than they do an expensive thought out procedure to capture it, being research and right before they learn anything not because some new power or some unknown prophecy no, they just didn’t do their homework so in the last stage of transferring he leaves, damn near knowingly aware of the fact he was almost caught and had to give up his information either he or the submarine entity and then they leave. No information gained, no containment enacted, lives lost, facility lost, possible way of capture most likely lost, Scps still free and possibly now even more aggressive. All because somebody messed up some basic, obvious fucking risks, that we’re still with all lost LUCKY didn’t cause worse to happen, honestly I suppose it’s good they all disappeared because they atleast have a chance to be alive unlike how I would have them all fucking terminated after a long self made review on their failings and incompetence, and I’d have them right a response to the ethics committee so I wouldn’t have to while they’re at it
