I'm a paralegal here in FL and unfortunately, I feel that a jury trial is always the worst thing to do because no offense but people are inherently stupid. I have seen so many jury decisions that make absolutely no sense. I would never ever trust a jury if I were to get arrested. A jury of my peers? No thank you! I'd rather have a judge rule on the law than trust my case in the hands of complete morons. We had a trial recently on a non-compete. The jury ruled: yes he violated the non-compete, yes he stole customers, yes he poached employees of the company, yes the company was harmed. Oh great, so what is your ruling on the monetary loss? Jury: oh um nothing. Yes the company lost 3 of their biggest customers but nah they don't deserve money. 🤦🤦🤦🤦 People are inherently stupid.
It makes me crazy that taxpayers have to pay for all this wasted time, the wages for this judge, the prosecutor, the bailiffs..not to mention decent working people waiting around for the jury. Just so stupid. Why is this judge bothering, just pathetic. They need to change the law about right to self-defence. It is illegal surely to waste the court's time. But Ive a feeling he likes the sound of his own voice and got upset when the judge didnt allow him to make up his own rules. All this for a traffic ticket misdemeanour
I'm understanding everything the judge is saying and am not sure why the defendant isn't comprehending. Everyone who is charged with anything criminal should be represented by an attorney. It's the smartest move to make. Personally, I prefer to have insurance, have a valid driver's license, have a vehicle registration, and attempt to obey all traffic laws. It's not difficult and I enjoy not having to go to court or pay fines. Stupid Sovcits, they don't know what's good for them.
