The story of this group begins with 10 years old “Natty” moved from Thailand to korea to follow her dream after passing both JYP and SM audition. She trained briefly in SM with the same team with joy and Seulgi red velvet. After that she moved to JYP and joined the survival show “sixteen” which created Twice. She made to the final ep but due to her age , jyp decided to bring momo back from elimination and took the main dancer position of twice instead. Natty left JYP after
A few years later there’s a clip of a certain trainee of blacklabel (yg sub lebel) called “julie han” circulating for brief moments
After that Natty joined another survival “idol school” she made a big impression being the top ranks for first few episodes but sadly she didn’t made it to the final line up for fromis_9. (There’s corruption allegation going on years later states that the votes were rigged and Lee haein plus natty should be in the final line up but I’m not gonna talk about that cause i also loves fromis9 and the girls did nothing wrong )
Few years later Natty debuted as a soloist and had a comeback once then she disappeared within a thin air.
During this time , Annabelle shin or Belle , daughter of a famous singer Shim Shin , practicing herself as a singer and producer, she does drop some bangers on her own sound cloud. She joined SM songwriters camp and finally officially debut as a songwriting by writing her first song for other artist which is “find you” by purple kiss. She was credited for many artists within 2 years after becoming a producer such as unforgiven by le sserafim ,miyeon gidle , into you DaDaboo.
Suddenly ,rumors of Natty joining new company which is S2 entertainment giving the OGs fan excited once again. Lee Haein as I mentioned who also joined idol school with natty ( now work as kiss of life creative director) recruited Natty to be part of the project KISS OF LIFE. Julie joined. Belle who was working as producer at the company got suggested by the CEO and also joined the project. Now we have 3 talented individuals together but they need another in to fulfill the group. So 3 of them hand picked the last hidden gem from the trainees themselves which is Haneul making her the only member who auditioned to be in the group.
A 10-year-experience trainee , ex-blacklabel trainee , producer and hidden gem that get picked now known as KISS OF LIFE.
just a correction: JYP didn’t bring momo back because natty was too young to debut. he brought her back because she was unanimously voted by the staff and teachers as the most hard working and dedicated trainee. he also said that the group needed her dance skills and that she was very important for the group in term if performance.
@@jihyoshusbandi can definitely say that brought Momo back to the final lineup of twice was Aged . Natty was won against her all missions but unfortunately Natty just only 13 years old that time (Same condition with Somi 14 yrs). So JYP needed to bring Momo who is also a main dancer back to fulfill the group. Do not hate my comment because I also like Twice.

Something cool about Midas Touch is that towards the end when they all have their own unique line, they all actually reference their solo songs! I will list them in order of how they do it in their song Natty- Sugarcoat, Haneul- Play Love Games, Julie- Kitty Cat, and Belle- Countdown!
MMA BAD NEWS PERFORMANCE is the one that makes me want to stan them, that performance is literally insane you should check that out

Nahh that song literally has one of the best bridges I've ever heard. My ears literally love it.
I love how they released "Bad News" first and you mostly see them being "bad" I guess, especially Haneul destroying the other girl during dodgeball and Natty straight up throwing someone out a window and dumping the body in the trunk of a car??
But then in "Nobody Knows" they show _why_ they did all that, and I think that's such a powerful commentary on how society will usually just see women snapping, and judge them for it, while ignoring how people treated those women and what actually happened that made act like that. Because those aren't just actions, they're REactions.
My favourite of these songs is probably either "Shhh" or "Midas Touch"? I'm still just like riding the high of the newness of "Midas Touch", it's just so good.
And I've been all over the place bias-wise. If I had to pick someone at this moment... maybe Haneul? (light blonde in "Shhh"; black hair in "Midas Touch"). But probably just OT4 😅
I discovered Kiss of Life when they were drip feeding the member's solo tracks leading up to Shhh. I thought they were a breath of fresh air because their MVs tackle real issues like overbearing parents, sexual harassment, bullying, etc. Also congrats to Natty! After barely not making it into Twice, she finally has a place where she can shine
its so sweet because in the shhh mv they save haneul (blond buns girl) and bring her into the group and irl natty, belle and julie (the other three girls) were actually the ones to choose haneul as their last member 🥺 they chose her bc they thought she was so cute and also great singer 💓
Kiss of Life is definitely cut from a separate cloth. I haven't been this excited about a group in a long time and they are top on my list for kpop at this time. I was doing good with XG and still have them at least at #2 but right now it's all about Kiss of Life.
Some info about the members:
Natty: participated in Sixteen survival program which formed Twice, contestant on Idol School, former soloist, Thai
Julie: 8 years trainee at YG \ The Black Label, born in Hawai, trained as a ballerina as a child
Belle: former songwriter at SM, has credits on songs for NCT Mark, Miyeon, and most famously Le Sserafim's Unforgiven, born in Seattle but raised in Korea
Haneul: did NOT train at Hybe as many people believe, that information has been debunked. She was however hand-picked by the other three members to complete the group for her talent and personnality, Korean
Julie trained for 6 years, not 8, and not all of that was at the Black Label as she also trained at SWING Entertainment with Natty. Also, Belle did not work for SM exclusively as a songwriter- she was independent until she signed with Aura(S2 subsidiary) and just attended a few SM Song Camps.
Also, in the bridge section between the 2nd and 3rd choruses in Midas Touch, they all referenced their own solo songs in their lyrics! (Natty with Sugarcoat, Haneul with Play Love Games, Julie with Kitty Cat, and Belle with Countdown)

KISS OF LIFE is top-tier. Their vocals are phenomenal. Their dancing is awesome. Their rapping is dope.
"Shhh" was the 6th part of a 6-part "mini-series", which began with each of the ladies' solos, followed by "Bye My Neverland", and ending with "Shhh".
I saw another TH-camr react to kiss of life and they said that KIOF remind me of an early 2000s ,90s girl group or the cheetah girls .
I thought the exact same thing when I first watched their stuff , I was like “this is giving cheetah girls and I love that “ the cheetah girls were my childhood
Thank god you reacted to both titles from Born to Be XX! Only watching one wouldn't have given the context. So happy you got into this group, they seem like seasoned professionals because most of them are!
Their company is small but the creative director, Lee Haein, is a super talented girl who had trained for a long time and went on survival shows with Natty (one of the members), however she was rigged out from the final group fromis_9 (from first place!!) and after that decided to focus her efforts on working behind the scenes. She sought out her talented trainee friends and that's how the group was formed, which is also why they're willing to bet everything on them :)
For a next video I highly recommend reacting to their debut rollout, they each had a solo song with an MV and a final group song called "Bye My Neverland"

i initially learned about Kiss of Life bc Natty was said to be in the group. Natty was in the survival show SIXTEEN and was almost in the final lineup of Twice.
You should check their solo songs beacuse in the mvs their story is connected to the "SHHH" mv. And also "Bye Neverland" because is also connected to mv.

Highly recommend : all 4 solo songs that they released before groups debuted (each songs kinna represented personal side of each members and its all connected and like to their 1st MV continuous story line if you watch in following the order it releases )

I’d suggest watching the MVs for the solo songs they released sometime (either on your own or in a reaction) as they’re actually referenced at the end of Midas touch (the “brace brace!” Part). So it’s a pretty cool call-back for fans. Sugarcoat by Natty is a particular fave ❤️

just repeating what other comments have already said but you absolutely need to check out their solo mvs (in order 'sugarcoat' by natty, 'countdown' by belle, 'kitty cat' by julie and 'play love games' by haneul), then 'bye my neverland' which lead into the 'shhh' mv! but also the b sides, they are amazing, 'ttg' is one of my favourites from born to be xx their second album, and 'nothing' which is the english b side of 'midas touch' is simply incredible like i have no words, im wish that they released a full mv for it too like they did for 'nobody knows' 🤞😭
You should 100% check out their solos! Their vocals, rap and dance skills are amazing and so are the mv productions! so i think you will fall inlove with their solos aswell

Bruh Ive been a kissy from debut and I just Saw the born to be XX in the bathroom scene which is the name of their second album
24:10 I would recommend Brown Eyed Girls! They debuted in 2006 and had their 18th anniversary recently! Their debut album, Your Story, is just over an hour long and amazing the whole way through. I highly, highly recommend their song "Second," it's my favorite k-pop song of all time.
If you want something older, I would recommend looking into Fin.K.L., Baby V.O.X., S.E.S. (SM's first girl group), Jewelry, T. T. MA, BoA (soloist, also from SM, debuted at 13 in 2000 and is still active, extremely famous), and Lee Hyori (was in Fin.K.L, became a very successful soloist after they disbanded). An excellent S.E.S. song is "Be Natural," which they released in 2000. I love this song a lot, and Red Velvet did a remake of it in 2014, with Taeyong (NCT) featuring on it pre-debut.

I actually found natty when she was a soloist so when I saw she debuted I immediately checked out the group. But for a bias I absolutely LOVE Haneul. I love her dancing the most out of the four, but all of them are legitimately amazing.

Then "bye my never land" after that "shhh" so you can FEEL the emotional story
For me as far as bias goes I watch videos that show off their personality and live stage performances to pick a bias if I feel like I can. Rn I'm totally into Natty shes amazing
The only mistake that you did is not start and watch their solo songs first, then Goodbye Neverland, then Shhh in order since their debut is like a series storywise, so it's like you have watched episode 6 and not watch episodes 1 to 5. So if you are confused of what is going on in 'Shhh' is kind of normal, other then that the rest is ok lol. Also yeah, they are a group to follow, like too much talents in one group to be a rookie group.

In my opinion, you can skip the others and Bye My Neverland. I think most can agree that it is the best and most popular MV of the solos.

I'm still new to this group, too. But I'm definitely love most of their songs compared to other more popular girl groups from 5 and even 4 gen. I forgot when I got into kiss of life but I remember there's video about a rookie group that each members were ex traine from big 4 (I'm still not sure if it's true). And my most favorite and highly recommended song from them is 'Nothing', that song is constantly on repeat playlist now. And my bias is Belle, she's just incredible with her singing and literally earned her grande of kpop title with her voice and looks 😍
The big 4 thing isn't true. Julie trained at The Black Label(YG subsidiary) and Natty trained at SM(for about a month) and then JYP. Belle and Haneul never trained at anywhere other than their current company(S2). Belle just attended a few SM Song Camps as a songwriter so that's why people confused her for a trainee, idk where the 'Haneul was in HYBE' misinfo came from tho
