The 850 Roadster is the prettiest Commando IMO. The 3 gal. tank, seat, fenders, mufflers and side covers are all in perfect proportion. The highly polished aluminum primary, timing, gearbox covers and Z plates combine nicely. The peashooter mufflers and stainless fenders are icing on the cake. stainless steel fenders are icing on the cake.
Norton absolutely nailed it with the Commando series! Whilst the Japanese bikes were booming in performance and value stakes in the early 1970s this bike was by far the best looking and sounding! Love your ride!!!!
I was fortunate enough to own a 1976 Silver Interstate 850 Norton Commando Mk3 back in the late 1970’s (similar to this bike). Had that Commando for many years, spending lots of time and money on it. Regretted parting company with that Norton in the mid 1980’s. I am now fortunate to own the exact same model (also silver) a 1977 built bike in original specification as my earlier bike. Bought the bike in 2021 - sorted it out and I will not be parting with this one! I can say that this video is the nearest that you are going to get to actually riding this type of machine, the images and the sound are perfect - all you need is the gust of wind and feel of the bike and you are there. Many thanks for the video, if you get the chance to ride this type of bike, one that is set up properly, have a go on one, you won’t regret it. Brian NOC Yorkshire UK
That sound on the overun, primary chain tensioner, english alloy, clutch plates......pure joy. thanks for posting a great ride, you're blessed by the great god of NVT. I don't envy any man, but I'll make an exception in this case purely co's I love your bike mate.
Yeah most people don’t stay much longer than 90 secs. I really do these videos for myself so I can relive the experience once I can’t ride anymore. I still have a few good years left but I’m in the late innings of a life riding motorcycles.
@@BRUCE_SWAN_MOTORCYCLES...... i certainly did'nt mean the rest was'nt worth watching, ...i just meant the the view from the right side in those opening seconds was / is absolutely stunningly awesome ! what a bike !
Norton Commando was one of the most beautiful bikes ever built. I always wanted one, but by chance my first heavy bike instead became an old, 2nd hand BMW R60, 1966 model. I liked the reliability of the BMW, but it was kind of sloow...😊

stunning machine
You can’t beat a British thumper beautiful
I had the '69-'70 750 Commando, repro Bub mufflers, swapped in a single Mikuni carb for the pot-metal Amals.
