My favorite thing about home free is their respect for every artist individually! They have done countless videos and highlight everyone and do not over step each other. They watch every artist with great awe!!!! T
Same here with Kenny for me. This was published on November 19, 2015--shortly after it was recorded. Kenny was born in August 1938, which made him 77 when this was performed. He would have turned 82 this coming August. Thank you for a great reaction and tribute.
It's hard to beat our HF singing with the amazing Kenny Rogers. All his music was great, but he had a gift for duets. His collabs with Dolly are always my favorite because they had oodles of chemistry on stage. RIP Kenny.
Kenny and Home Free released this video in November 2015. Yes, he still had it. Loved that growl he had. Austin did awesome with his sound effects. They sounded great together and brought us to church, too! Thank you so much for reacting to this one!
Kenny Rogers has always been a Legend in my eyes. His voice was so distinct, that you could easily pick him out of a crowd of people. I'm sure the Home Free guys will always cherish the time they got to spend with him. R.I.P. Kenny, you will be missed.
I have been a huge fan of Kenny Rogers ever since his First Edition days. I am also a massive fan of Home Free. When I heard that they were doing this song together, I thought, "It can't get any better!" Then came your reaction, and that was the cherry on top of an already delicious cake. Thank you for your informative, funny and honest reactions.
This is actually one of my favorites by Home Free, and I know it is because Kenny Rogers is part of it. What a beautiful voice the "Silver Fox" had. Thanks sweetie... hope you are well & stay safe.
Thanks DramaSydE. I have loved Kenny Rogers since back in the First Edition days. It’s funny...l didn’t listen to “Country” music back then; just pop. But I knew Kenny’s songs. He had such a distinctive voice...it could be light as air or full and strong, always with that gravely texture sneaking in. Home Free was so fortunate to have had this opportunity with a legend. I loved Austin’s sound effects and that little bit of wailing at the end. They all knocked it out of the park. Loved your reaction and kind words.
The thing is the song is actually a real banger (for a religious themed song I mean). The fact that Kenny sounds so natural doing main lead on it shows how versatile he was.
Read the other day that when he was planning on doing this song he was considering singing with Pentatonix, but one of his twin sons (a fan of Home Free) suggested he check them out & the rest is history. Apparently he was not aware of their existence - how's that possible? (And then I watched the rest of this vid & apparently it was his son's teacher who suggested them! And I'm still gobsmacked that he didn't know who they are! Need a publicist maybe?!?!)
Trivia: Kenny ‘s first number one was an acid rock song when he was with the First Edition called “I Just Dropped In to See What Condition my Condition Was In”
To answer your question, I am fairly certain this would have been late 2015 since it is on Kenny's Christmas album. Chris Rupp, Adam's brother is still in the group but he left the group in 2016 to pursue a solo career so I am pretty sure late 2015 is when this was done.
The guys did another right after Kenny passed. Even Thou they were “everywhere”, they’ve done some Great videos! They did “The Gambler” !!! It’s really awesome, & think you’d like it 🙃‼️🙃. Thank you, from Texas ‼️
Kenny Rogers was one of a kind. My sister is a huge fan so growing up I remember him playing in the car and in the house. When this first came out I had her listen to this and she was so excited to hear this. She also wanted to know when this was released and how she didn't realize Kenny had recorded a new Christmas album. She was also was blown away by Home Fee and downloaded them onto her iPod. Thank you for doing this reaction to this song. One of my favorite Christmas sons. I also love anything with Kenny and Dolly - what an amazing pair those two are when they sing together. Stay safe.
Kenny will be sorely missed. He and the other legends...Waylan Jennings, Johnny Cash, Charlie Daniels,Charley Pride, Hank Sr, and the list goes on and on.....
Kenny's voice never wavered as he got older as you said, many singers voices do change with age, but he was strong in his vocals and I was so crushed to hear of his death. R.I.P Kenny and I am sure Home Free jumped at the chance when his people called them to do this song. Glad they had the opportunity and the song and video came out so well. I love it.
I was born in 1990 and my dad always loved the older country singers so Kenny was always a favorite from the gambler to coward of the county which is a favorite movie of mine too as well as six pack and adding that I'm a major home fry too!! I love every reaction that you do and have done by home free! Thank you for honoring Kenny this way! R.I.P
Thank you for doing this! Kenny was in great voice & the boys tore it up. Tight! Other than his duets with Dolly I think this is my favorite of all his collaborations.
He was an amazing story teller through his music. “”Coward of the County” & “The Gambler” come to mind. Loved his cola s with Dolly. “Old Frinds” & Island in the. Nice reaction!!!
This is awesome, live!!...Love Chris, but when after he left, Chance joined, it allowed 2 basses the freedom to switch off....Kenny was/still is a treasure..Went from amazing jazz milti-musician/writer/producer w/Bobhy Doyle Band, a little fame w/folk/pop New Christu Minstrels - "This Land Is Your Land", then star w/own rock/pop/soul First Edition -"I Just Droped In To See What Condition My Condition Was In", then bigger solo star "Lady", then even bigger solo country-ish/pop/soul super-star w/124 hit singles, 24 #1 hits, 120 Mill.records sold (more than most biggies), 3 Grammys, famous for duets w/Dolly for 39 yrs "Islands In The Stream " (said they never dated, but flirted for 30 yrs).. Mantime, was a Top Tier tennis player forc10 yrs, on in his way to Wimbledon, but music won out, produced for other stars, had his own interior design firm (he was the "ideas/concepts" guy), excellent photographer w/3 best-selling photographt books, a great actor in 20 movies "The Gambler", helped w/the soundtrack & bothe the song & soundtrack were big hits.. His uniquely, instantly recognuzable, geautifypul, deep, raspy, husky, voice/cadences/phrasing/voice control, showed his jazz musician background..He was a kind, smart, caring man, who really LIVED his life, kept his grwat voice yill the end, left behind a musical legacy & who will be missed greatly..R.I.P. dear Kenny, w/God & his angels😢😢💜
The first concert I bought a ticket for Kenny Rogers and the First Edition in 67 or 68. I Just Dropped in was a huge hit. I was in Jr Hi when I bought a ticket to the UW-P for the gig, in my home town.
Kenny was such an influence for me as a kid growing up in the 70's Just made me love country music even more . And now to have this with him and home free is just amazing to have as a momento to go on .. I still have a vinyl of Kenny Rogers 10 yrs of gold album Thanks for doing this sir . Much appreciated
That was wonderful. He will be sorely missed. What a great soulful, gospel, country, pop voice he had. That slight raspiness to his singing is always what I thought set him apart from others.
Oh lord, this is the first time I saw this and when Kenny said at the end "makes it sound like I'm dead" 🥺🥺🥺 oh boy that hit hard R.I.P to an absolute legend
Kenny Rogers --- Timeless music right there. With this song/performance --- it's EPIC for sure. They all nailed and rocked this........ and oh it's so so good! Be Safe
Admire your love and respect for Kenny. He was the first country artist I remember (I am 55), along with Dolly Parton. He has always had a soulful side, and he really shows it in this song. I imagine his influences came from Bluegrass, which was a blend of gospel/rock, which became Country and Western.
I loved how you waved your hands when Adam Rupp really pulled out the drum set towards the end there. I also grew up listening to Kenny and all three others as well. Great reaction
Thanks for a great reaction! I love this video! It sure can get you up and moving! I had the pleasure of seeing him in the early 70's and then once on his farewell tour! I can tell you his voice never changed....he was just as great on FW tour as when he was starting out! The guys do an awesome job with him on this one! HF sing this at their Christmas shows....with Chance taking the lead! You should check it out!
You should see this song done Live, it's beautiful. Some other really fun songs... Fishin in the Dark/Boondocks Mashup, SOLD, and Thank God I'm a Country Boy! There are also some more calm, a beautiful serious one if you're more in the mood for that is - "What We Ain't Got", or an old one that Tim wrote called "I've Seen". Thanks for being awesome!!!!
I started watching and listening to Kenny when he was on TV waaaay back when. He had a show called Kenny Rogers and the First Edition. Hooked right then to his voice! Music played in our house always and I really appreciated his smooth voice. Thank you for this DramaSyde, I absolutely love to watch your reactions. Watch every evening before bed so that I can end the day with a positive note which you always bring.
I loved Kenny Rogers' music and am heartbroken that he has passed away. Thank you for reacting to this video. It was an amazing colab! Can you react to Home Free's Thank God I'm a Country Boy? Also Kenny's Lady, which is my favorite of his songs and The Gambler which is classic.
Surprised that you're just seeing this as they did it several years ago and Chris was still with Home Free. Kenny Rogers' voice was so strong and they did an amazing job on this video.
So glad you did this one. its a favorite of mine.. Loved Kenny so much.. have you seen the video of Kenny and Lionel Richie singing Lady together (at an awards show).. soo much fun) Thanks for doing this.. Kenny will be missed.. thank God he is on record so we can hear his music over and over!
I love Kenny. His voice is awesome. First time I saw. These other guys. They was called. 5 guys in a church. And was. Sanding amazing Grace. And. It was like my hears. Opened up and. I thought they was. Awesome too rip in peace. Kenny. Wow.
My very first album was Kenny Rogers’ Th Gambler. He sounded fantastic in this. It really feels like he was a part of Home Free, and you can tell the Home Free guys were thrilled to be able to sing with Kenny. Loved this so very much!
My all time favorite Christmas song. And I listen to it every day at least once. It gets me up and running. Tim is just pumping that bass line. If you didn't see them perform you would swear their was a fantastic bass guitarist. The percussion never misses -- Adam just jams all the way through it. Austin ---- dayam!! And one of my favorite performances of Kenny's.
Can we take a moment to acknowledge Adam who's taught all of them to make certain instrumental sounds including having Tim do the bass drum beat while he did the scratching in the Butts Remix so they would be able to do it live. Teaching them all how to do different sounds just added a whole new dimension to their music
Love your share, especially 'give him his flowers reference' - Give me my Flowers is my favorite gospel song. Got tickled, I wore out my parents Kenny Roger's and Dolly Parton 8 track tapes. The first two artists I knew, plus Crystal Gayle

When you said give him flowers before he died reminded me of a country song by Tanya Tucker. "Give me them Flowers' I know that's not what you would call current music but it is new. and it's by a legion. Great reaction as usual.

I had the same reaction when Austin came out of nowhere and hit that note 😍😁
Kenny and Home Free released this video in November 2015. Yes, he still had it. Loved that growl he had. Austin did awesome with his sound effects. They sounded great together and brought us to church, too! Thank you so much for reacting to this one!
These is THE nicest rendition I’ve ever heard of this song!
They still perform this in concert with Chance taking Kenny's role. No doubt it will be a highlight this holiday season as well.
R.I.P. Kenny, I grew up listening to Kenny and I'll continue to listen to Kenny ❤❤❤
Kenny Rogers has always been a Legend in my eyes. His voice was so distinct, that you could easily pick him out of a crowd of people. I'm sure the Home Free guys will always cherish the time they got to spend with him. R.I.P. Kenny, you will be missed.

Kenny Rogers is still singing up in heaven
Kenny Roger and the First Edition, Just dropped in
I have been a huge fan of Kenny Rogers ever since his First Edition days. I am also a massive fan of Home Free. So good. Took me to church.
Unreal how they blended this together. Great!
Kenny is true legend.
Timeless is right. Thank you for reacting to the collaboration of a legend and legends in the making.

He has one of those specific voices when you hear it, you know exactly who it is. We have lost another great one.
He will be missed. Thank you for this. ^_^
5:47 Couldn't hold back that smile! 😁 I don't blame you! This was something special!!

What a heartening intergenerational collaboration! Rest in peace good sir.
I remember Kenny when he was on TV in the 70's..beautiful hair and those big collar shirts-just as handsome as the boys in HF ! dang I am old
Kenny will be sorely missed. He and the other legends...Waylan Jennings, Johnny Cash, Charlie Daniels,Charley Pride, Hank Sr, and the list goes on and on.....

My favorite ❤️
My very first album was Kenny Rogers’ Th Gambler. He sounded fantastic in this. It really feels like he was a part of Home Free, and you can tell the Home Free guys were thrilled to be able to sing with Kenny. Loved this so very much!

If this don't take ya to church, nothing will! ❤
Thank you my friend
Had me shouting and almost speaking in tongues !!🙏🏾n
Love your reactions!!!You Funny...💖
Love your share, especially 'give him his flowers reference' - Give me my Flowers is my favorite gospel song.
Got tickled, I wore out my parents Kenny Roger's and Dolly Parton 8 track tapes. The first two artists I knew, plus Crystal Gayle
Thank you Sir for a great reaction and commentary.
As a fellow musician I know that we musicians have a sense of timing, tone, and other nuances that most people don't and we pick up on it where other people just skip over it or ignore it completely and I know that on occasions where you have pointed it out it has caused you to get negative feedback but I for one appreciate your honesty, it is what sets you apart from the pack.
I heard you comment that you also are familiar with Dolly Parton and other country (white man's blues) singers.
I would like to suggest a collaboration between Penitonix and Dolly Parton's Jolen.
Thank you and keep up the good work.
Truly enjoy seeing you enjoy the music and when you rewind the songs with that big smile you have. Your smile reminds me of the Grinch. It's awesome. Keep up the good work.
I've never heard this song because I'm not religious. There is a handful of songs that make me feel and this is one of them. Side note, I think this is the most intense I've seen Adam. He was awesome as always!
When you said give him flowers before he died reminded me of a country song by Tanya Tucker. "Give me them Flowers' I know that's not what you would call current music but it is new. and it's by a legion. Great reaction as usual.
Thank you so much for doing this😘
If no one has commented on your smile I just love it you have beautiful teeth
Outstanding!
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Will you please do Kenny Rogers song Through The YEARS
..
Was listening to him from his 1rst Edition days .
Hey Big D...I think it was 2016 when they did this one together. Cheers! MJC
I love this song, and your reaction. Still coming to your channel to listen! 💕
Big part of my life too. I really wish I had a recording of my grandparents doing 'Islands in the Stream' Mam-ma didn't feel confident on most of Dolly's songs, but she did on that one. I wasn't well versed enough to really tell how good it came out, but it must have been alright for everyone cause they always got tons of 'omg you sound just like them!' and before I forget, I want to drop this here for you. th-cam.com/video/-gfOHEaHdjo/w-d-xo.html Love it if you reacted, ( and it's worth it, Peter Hollens riding on a tricycle and other antics. I lost it laughing and the info is spot on ) but at least make sure you share, cause all the money from that song is going to front line medical and stuff like that. Thanks!
