Also, props to Hansi for using a term "fantasy metal", have loved the idea of labeling some modern metal albums by themes or aesthetics, not the traditional way and glad that some of the artists share it Would be really happy to see Tobias Sammet break down Avantasia's "A Paranormal Evening with the Moonflower Society" artwork and music videos and tell the public more about their characters 💙
Yes totally! Bands get thrown into genres and sub-genres, but as artists they are constantly exploring different themes, or focusing on one or two that can come to define them more than their sound or style.
He just nailed why I think Secrets of the American Gods is actually, for me, better than the novel. The fantasy Gaiman made is incredible, don't get me wrong, but the song evokes the mood that I feel from the *idea* of the novel -- and, as I've gotten older, the novel doesn't as much... not anymore. That's not the novel's fault, but Kursch brought it back for me in Odin's war and why he had to do it.
