  • If your electric hot water heater is not working and the water is not getting hot, it’s probably overheated. In this video, I’ll show you how to reset the water heater with the reset button.

    I love videos like this where they get straight to the point. All the other videos talk and talk and talk then they break out the tools that the average person won’t have. Dafuq am I gonna do with a multimeter? I’m not gonna buy one just “test” it.
    Just show me what I have to do and don’t give me a long winded explanation.

    Thanks! I am having trouble with my water heater after attempting to drain it about a week ago. I read about the reset button in the manual but forgot to check. I didn't recall seeing one and didnt even know what it might look like. I popped off the top panel and found mine. I hope this helps otherwise I might be in for a new tank :D

    I bought this water heater th-cam.com/users/postUgkx8G49mV71sAzUl9shXyLW-r3XgHH9EVh1 for use in my bus conversion. I installed it under my kitchen sink and it is fed by a high efficiency on-demand LP water heater. It is both a backup hot water source as well as a water saving device since we have hot water on demand rather than having to wait for the gas on demand water heater to finish its ignition cycle. I decided on this water heater due to the fact that it only draws 1300watts when it's ON instead of the 1500 watts that most Water heaters this size draw. In an RV a couple hundred watts can be a big deal. With very low standby losses, I don't have to worry about excessive power consumption. When propane is not available for our gas water heater, in conjunction with our low flow shower head there is enough hot water available to shower, albeit we won't be taking "hotel showers." Also very happy with the recovery rate of this water heater. Granted, it is quite small, but it does exactly what we need it to do.

    Pushing the reset button may reactivate your water heater and allow it to heat again, but be aware that the reset is only a safety feature to protect the system because of a fault in the thermostats or the heating elements. It is highly likely that the reset will trip once again, as soon as the water comes up to temperature. It is never recommended to repeatedly reset the upper thermostat to keep the water heater operating. Either the thermostats need to be replace, or the heating elements need to be replaced. If you don't have experience or tools to service 240 Volt AC electricity, then call to have the heater serviced.

    Thank you for this awesome video. I have a question: Is it normal that when I opened the top panel the insulation and cover were wet? So far I just put it back together and left the breaker off. Any solutions or ideas? Thank you.

    • @Your-Self
      @Your-Self  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good job turning the breaker OFF.
      I'd investigate where the water is coming from because it's not normal for the insulation to be wet.
      Maybe something is dripping on top of your water heater. If not, the water heater itself could be leaking. And unfortunately, possibly is ready for a replacement.

    Thanks this worked but isn’t the red button a sign of something else happening? Like why did it pop out in the first place? Fixed the button but may not be the root cause 🧐

    • @Your-Self
      @Your-Self  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If the button doesn't pop up within a few days, then it's all good.
      But if it does, try replacing the thermostat first. It could be just a "weak" button or a stuck thermostat. It's best to replace both the top and the bottom thermostats at the same time. If that doesn't help, you'll need a multimeter to do some tests.
