Quick, concise, to the point. Excellent review format. Surprised that Dan's modern designs do not have the bass punch of most of his former Krell designs.
In 1989 I had a Krell KSA250 driving B&W801 Matrix loudspeakers and it was a wonderful system other than the huge heat, we live in South Florida. I miss that system to this day but have replaced it with some great stuff, Wilson, Plinius, Proceed, that makes some great music. Ever body that's heard my rig wants to here more music and we generally have a 3 to 4 hour session. Great music on a great rig gets that reaction every time. "I never knew it could sound this good", is the general reaction.
Another commenter spotted this. Wich bias setting is best on the Gryphons? Does the setting influence the power rating? How does in influence the sound? Does it even make a differnce? What does this setting exactly do, change the point where the amp goes into class B? Maybe I can look this points up somewhere. It would have been nice to hear them in this video.
Really enjoy your break down of the two amps. Showing me controls and how they perform. Great job Jay! PS- Maybe you should wear steel toes when handling these amps, lol!
Jay, we have three systems in the home. One reference. But this video really makes me just want to get both. Wife and I are going to also look into those cables too. Thanks again brotha! 🤜🏽🤛🏽
Hi Jay, You mentioned before that Boulder and Gryphon's power amplifiers perform better with their own pre-amplifiers. However, you showcased the Soulution pre-amplifier is amazing without using the Soulution power amplifier. What makes the Soulution pre-amplifier work well with other brands? Thanks for the great video!
Yes, i use Gryphon Antileon and i not change it. Is to life for me, have all i can desire. But i make it some improvement, this make it a very, very good amplifier. BR
Love the format, Jay! As much as I'd like to choose the Antileon Evo Monos for its non-fatiguing fluid class A sound, I wouldn't want to have the same problem I am facing now. I can't seem to dance to the music played by my tube sounding class AB Gryphon Diablo 250. Only way I can appreciate the amp is by listening to the beautiful vocals. Eventhough I managed to achieve the smoothness I desire, my body stays still. I wonder would adding a subwoofer aid in the bass region and bring out the groove? Hope I don't have to elevate any of the frequencies to fix this.
Jay, I realise it's because you are testing so many amplification systems but have you ever tried playback with the electronic hardware placed to the side of the room rather than in-between the speakers?
Great review or should I say reviews. Quick thought. Moon audio North collection. A pair of 861 would give both amps a run for the money but at hf the price. Just wondering if you could one day review a pair of them. Keep up the excellent work and thanks. Look forward daily to seeing what your up too
@@jaysaudiolab I already heard it one first in stereo and then 2 units in mono and let me tell you the difference between the 860av2 and the north 861 is night and day!!! Is wooooow!!
I've heard the Momentum and I own a Gryphon. The reason I love the Gryphon is that it gives you a very well rounded sound. It envelops you and it doesn't make the sound 1-dimensional as I felt with the D 'Agostino To me the Momentum was trying to hard to get every note right. Like a kid reading a speech. Nice, but a bit pretentious. The Gryphon speaks well, but doesn't mind being colloquial too! Gryphon for the Win!!
Jay I guess you're through with the $85.000 midfi Pass Lab amplifiers. What bias setting did you use on the Gyyphon amps? You made a big deal about the heat of the Pass Labs XS-300 amplifiers, so I'm curious about the full throttle class A heat on the Gyyphon Antilleon amps in comparison. How about a shootout. I like this style reporting as well. Stick with your original style of reporting it was more informative and entertaining.
Well, I think I'm out. Can't comment on either. For now, I'll stick with my Bryston, probably for the same reason you tend to stick with your cables, value proposition.
Jay I have a question why a lot of the time the equipment you review is not equal in price. Take this review, for example. One pair is over twice as expensive as the other. It would be a more fair comparison if products reviewed were at the same price point.
I have owned the Gryphon DM 100 ,Gryphon S 100 and 3 Gryphon Tabu 2/3 in an activ konfiguration. I know what you like about them, but for my taste they are too dark and too slow. Best wishes.
YOU DON'T EXPLAIN HOW THE GRYPHON SOUNDS WHEN YOU SET IT TO FULL CLASS A - A FEATURE ON GRYPHONS & IT APPARENTLY MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE. I CAN'T IMAGINE WHY THIS WAS SKIPPED. Disappointing.

Would definitely go for the Gryphons...
I liked this review style Jay.
Good Job. Reminds me of your early videos (shootouts) but more refined and professional
Quick, concise, to the point. Excellent review format. Surprised that Dan's modern designs do not have the bass punch of most of his former Krell designs.
Hi Jay, thanks for the video review. Excellent. I got the Momentum ( S300) and what you mentioned about Agostini sound, it´s truly truth.

I would choose the Gryphon.
I "only" got the Gryphon Diablo 120 integrated amplifier. Bought it 4 years ago, and will never let it go.

Great suggestion!
Health and safety
Jay, that's a beautiful showroom that you have there!!!
Thanks !
Jay - that's a small yet extremely impressive store showroom you have there
Everything there is Ultra Highend except the cables. All of a sudden the cable choice is based on value proposition 😅, but whose value?
Cool stuff Jay.
Jay, we have three systems in the home. One reference. But this video really makes me just want to get both. Wife and I are going to also look into those cables too. Thanks again brotha! 🤜🏽🤛🏽
Great TH-cam channel and please more content like this 😊
I've heard the stereo versions of both amps. Both were very good. I would give the edge to Gryphon for the bottom end oomph.
The Momentum MXV 400 monos are a better comparison also in terms of price.

Good analysis. Good job Jay. 👍
Both are amazing amplifiers that sound differently.
I know a repair tech for Gryphon and he’s been doing a LOT of repairs on these amplifiers. I wouldn’t have one in my system for that reason alone.
Yes, i use Gryphon Antileon and i not change it. Is to life for me, have all i can desire. But i make it some improvement, this make it a very, very good amplifier. BR
Great explaned how the amp sounds!👌🙂.
I like the way you say “bananas”

Both have their pros and cons.
It all depends on system matching.

Nope. No space

My question is preamplifier just one DarTzel or?????

Jay, great job thank you... one thing that confused me, the Antileon's are mono's, so why does it show left and right channel lights?
Interesting question ! Not sure
Jay when you will try the 861 Moon amp
Not sure
@@jaysaudiolab I already heard it one first in stereo and then 2 units in mono and let me tell you the difference between the 860av2 and the north 861 is night and day!!! Is wooooow!!
Not apples to apples Jay you should be comparing the M400’s. Anyone wanna bet Jay is going to become a Gryphon dealer? He’s setting the playfield..
Just wondering if the momentums in momo would be any better?
Good question
i will stick with my bel canto black i personally think its brill
You need a commercial premises, next.
your cable line. Made in the USA or no
Whatcan awesome review..... love you my brother good stuff
Gryphon muscle ftw
*The MOMENTUM amps just look so lovely though I just want them.*

Pass labs xs300 are way hotter. Not even close
Gryphon dominizer vocalisation 3000 xl... And someone still buy those 😅

Hopefully Gryphon is better. Funny how names keep getting longer
Jay

Oh no??? Power connector is plastic and from this universe. Where it can put my Experimental gryphecon extendezier DB 9900 bxl power cord??
I remember that you did not like the Antileon Evo Stereo that much. Did you change your mind?
The monos are far superior

The Dan Agostino seems way overpriced, you might as well go for Gryphon, unless you are short on space, which I assume you won't be.
No name inlet is very bad
I like the way you say “bananas”
