I was an addict in and out of jail/prisons for 25 years. Either in or on parole/probation since '92. I was about to be released to a homeless shelter from Prison getting set up for failure again. Two men from a prison ministry knew someone who ran a sober living home. I moved in, got a job and paid my rent. They mentored me and I now have a relationship with the Lord and His grace has kept me free and clean for 6 years praise Jesus!😊
My father was a doctor. He treated a woman who lived with an abusive husband for many years and she finally killed him. My father had to appear in court. He told the judge that she had suffered physically and mentally for many years and couldn't take it any more. Because of my father 's recollection of what she endured all those years, she didn't go to jail and lived a quiet and happy life thereafter. Thank you dad. You are my hero.
This video gives me such hope. I have a son who's been in prison for a long time. It's comforting to see such joy and peace in all of your eyes. May this hope spread like wildfire to all people, especially those in prison.
I started out as a troubled teenager who, at the age of 15, went to state school in 1976. Did 6 months, got out, and in 1979 went to prison for 3 more years. Finally, in 1983, I went to prison for another 21 yrs. on a 50 yr. sentence. While in prison, I played piano for church services, including Prison Fellowship. They did more for the prisoners than any other group as far as events. To make a long story come to an end, I got out in 2004 and this year makes 20 years free! I am soon to be, 64 yrs. old and just as God was with me throughout all those turbulent years, He has been faithful in sustaining me out here. Really had no family support upon release but always seemed to have what I needed to survive through my trust that God would supply. Without this trust that I found in Christ, I would've been just another statistic. I paroled to Florida but am headed back to Indiana this year to find old friends from PF and other church groups.😊
I worked in a women’s prison in Texas and I remember this inmate took the gun from her abuser and she killed him instead. She is as given a huge sentence but she was pardoned which almost never happens. She was a sweet older lady and was so gentle and quite. I wasn’t supposed to but I’m human and I gave her a big hug when she left and wished her the best and told her how happy I was for her. I had the privilege of letting her out of the dorm for the last time.
That’s beautiful and I’m glad you got to show your humanity. She symbolises so many domestic violence victims. It’s hard to see the punishment as just. 40 years is a long time. I hope she is happy. You too.
@@patsysadowski1546especially in some states (mine for one), if a man beats his wife to death in a domestic abuse case the most he gets is 25 years. He gets out early and does it again to another woman.

@@marcoman234 I understand your plight. As a victim of something myself, I forgave. You do not know the status of anyone. We must all learn to forgive. Vengeance and judgment are God's. I've seen God work miracles and silver linings with my poor choices. We will see my judgment when it's time.
My Mom escaped after 17 years of beatings during the sixties. They had no shelters to escape to. Had my Mom killed him the whole community could have testified as they knew it but never stepped in. Murderers are out in less than 10 years, rapists have been let out in under 2. Why is this woman still in jail? She needs to be free and with her family ❤️🥰🙏
Way to go TH-cam, to delete a comment that is TRUE! So, you don't like the truth either. Not surprised. They obviously sympathise with rapists. But not the women murdering them. It could be them. Just shut up, slave, let yourself be raped. That is who men are. It is their world.
No doubt her name is lost in that nasty system. She was rehabilitated. She needs no imprisonment. She has learned and paid her dues. Had she been treated like a decent human being she would not have killed her husband. He was her constant tormentor, abuser for 20 years. Let her go!
Because she is a woman. Woman who finally kill their abusers because the police won't help get the longest sentences too, too many times. If it was man, he'd be out in 15 max.
No bitterness in her voice, the sincerity in her words, her faith comes through. Isn't this redemption? Whatever happened in her past must have pushed her beyond reason . She's not evil, you can see that. 40 years is a too much.
Amen, sister friend! I was found dead on the road 1/13/2006 and have a memory just prior to my end that lead to my screaming for Jesus Christ when I woke from my coma 4 days later. My dear hairstylist was the only number I remembered, though truly unaware of who was in the other end. Tracy is a Christian and cared to come see me and bring me to a park to pray. I was released from the hospital in a grave state medically. Tracy gave me the greatest gift of my life, my first NIV Bible. I studied my Bible for 10 years, and read it 3 times through wanting to clearly understand my life and purpose driven life. (Book) Great book and totally worth the read. It must be said that I hate reading. Reading the Bible is feeding one's soul with God's word, the example of living by Jesus Christ, learning the rules of life, and certainly living by principles above personalities. Psam 23 is the way to live your life. My grandpa taught me that at a very young age. Thanks be to Grandpa & God!! 🍀🙏🏻
It seems she murdered an abusive husband that would have probably murdered her if she continued to stay with him. 40 years is enough. Gang members have gotten a lot less for a similar crime. Is she really a threat to society? My heart goes out to her from someone who knows abuse ❤
That's horrendous, I knew it was going to be that as soon as she said she was abused. If that really is the honest truth, then the system should pay for compensation. Abusive partners are the scum of the earth
She defended herself in real life and governments pour billions into the same thing in wars killing thousands of people in the process and don’t go to prison for forty years ????? She is amazing and has real leadership qualifications. God is blessing this woman.
This lady is a old dried up convict. She murdered another human being, and she'll spend the rest of her life behind bars if there is any justice. What's one of those 10 catchy slogans the Christians have,,, I will not kill? Yeah just let her settle up with the big man. In the meantime why don't you take your bowl of soup a bit further down the table Padre
Exactly. There are many women serving life sentences in prison because they had to kill their abuser so they would not be killed. It has always been a double standard with women -- they will always get blamed and prosecuted if they get into a situation where it is kill or be killed.
@@joeavery6344 it isn't always as easy for many victims to just get out. I agree with you that killing isn't an answer but you also have to understand that laws back in the day were very biased. Husbands abusing wives was somewhat normal. Even now, imagine being in a situation where you're isolated, brainwashed to believe you don't matter and getting abused in every way imaginable by a person that was supposed to love and protect you. I can understand how one day a person can just snap.
I'm so proud of you!!! You have maybe never felt free in this life, but you are more free than most of us out of this prison you've been for 40 years. Your freedom in Jesus is really what really matters. Again, IM SO PRPUD OF YOU!❤️❤️❤️❤️

Praise the LORD for your testimony!
The way Women who are abused in a marriage is atrocious. What possible reasons are there for imprisoning a Woman for years and years? I see other people who are just given a slap on the wrist. Women are not supposed to fight back, I guess. There's a double standard, it seems to me!
After 20 years of an abusive marriage prison probably feels like peace. She seems happy. She found people who care for her. Just sucks it was at the expense of her freedom. She made the best of it though and she's probably changed so many lives in there.
People who killed their abusers should not be charged with murder because 99% of the time it’s self defense now sometimes the abusers has driven the person to insanity and they could be a danger to society but this is to much she shouldn’t have been in there 10 years but here she is her life gone because our courts always side with abusers
Yes, I truly believe that it is very, very possible that it is self defense . But if they have a sentence because of this violence behavior it would be nice And a good idea to have counselors in there to help people get through this before they are released. In order to help them get their minds and hearts on the right track and for them to feel as though they are worth So much more than this abuse.
So if someone is driven to insanity because they are in a concentration camp like marriage, it is the woman's fault? No, no it is not. If no one wants to help someone in that kind of situation, then society is the problem not the woman in a concentration camp like marriage. It should be way easier for a woman to gain support from her neighbors even. But, no people really don't care or often even side with the abuser. Mostly because like the Bible says the heart is deceitful and desperately wicked. Then when the woman gets away or something happens like the woman kills her husband, stupid people around that person say if only she would have told me, I would have helped. No no you wouldn't have, no you wouldn't have. stop trying to convince others when you know you wouldn't help, because most people DO know what is going on and say things like the woman made her bed and now she has to lay in it. Or that is none of my business.

The Bible says we should not kill and we should obey the law. So I guess she will stay there until she dies. She could have walked away. Only God can forgive her, she has to ask for forgiveness before she leaves this earth.
My grandmother was 20 when she married. She was beaten, mercilessly for 20 years. When her son grew up, he put an end to it. The strange thing is, he beat his wife and kids.

@mircat28 You sounded very ignorant! Have you ever experienced abuse. When you're in an abusive relationship, you're made to bear the responsibility of the instigator. Everything that goes wrong in that relationship, you're labeled as the person who is causing chaos in the family and trying to break the family apart, and for that, you'll have to pay. I was involved in an extremely abusive relationship years ago. The reason I’m here today is because he was arrested for serial rape. He’s still in prison 45 years later. If he had not been arrested, I would either be dead or in prison for killing him. Because I had reached a point where I couldn’t live with the beatings anymore. But he threatened my family if I left. So I had every intention of ending HIS life. Sadly, for me to escape, three women and one child (at least) had to be savagely attacked and their lives changed forever. He beat one woman he raped with a hammer. My heart goes out to this woman. I wish her life could have been better.

I guess what I was trying to say is that if you’re going to lock them up they should have classes/workshops/activities that help them become better citizens. Even if they are never released. However, I do realize there are those criminals who are a danger to society and no matter what type of class they take, or how many activities they do, they will never be welcome back into society society. Sadly, more and more violent criminals are allowed to walk the streets because of no cash bail, and lax laws. It’s sad that people feel they are above the law.

@jacqibiesler2140 Don't get me wrong I feel for this old lady. I’m not going to assume she is there for killing an abusive husband. If that’s the reason it makes no sense, and why would she have been convicted of anything for that. But what if she’s there for stabbing a 5 year old to death…I’d like to know a little more before jumping on the parole bandwagon.

Why dose this woman need to be in jail
You too.

It seems she murdered an abusive husband that would have probably murdered her if she continued to stay with him. 40 years is enough. Gang members have gotten a lot less for a similar crime. Is she really a threat to society? My heart goes out to her from someone who knows abuse ❤
Right? Can we let her out now and let her see her kids and probably grandchildren too?!
That's horrendous, I knew it was going to be that as soon as she said she was abused. If that really is the honest truth, then the system should pay for compensation. Abusive partners are the scum of the earth

After 20 years of an abusive marriage prison probably feels like peace. She seems happy. She found people who care for her. Just sucks it was at the expense of her freedom. She made the best of it though and she's probably changed so many lives in there.
60 years of no freedom among normal society. Sad. But she seems happy in prison.

@jacqibiesler2140 Don't get me wrong I feel for this old lady. Whatever drove her to kill another human being is not justified, however in this case its clear it was self defence and she should be let out to enjoy the rest of her life with her children. Having said that my issue was with the hypocrite above who were celebrating the murder of another human being while simultaneously dogwhistling to his type.
I just want to hug this woman. She deserves freedom. Please release her to her family. 💞
Do U know why she’s in prison?
Exactly. She speaks of abuse and not her crime and who abused her is still alive
I’m not going to assume she is there for killing an abusive husband. If that’s the reason it makes no sense, and why would she have been convicted of anything for that. But what if she’s there for stabbing a 5 year old to death…I’d like to know a little more before jumping on the parole bandwagon.
I don’t care what come she done her crime for - I care for the message she carry 🫶🇦🇺
@@stevedolan5065no matter what she’s done, she has paid her debt to society and is no longer a threat to society ..!! A lot more ppl have pulled a lot less time for much worse crimes ..!!
Women who kill their abusive partners should not be charged and convicted of murder. They should not spend 40 years in prison. They should not be housed along side violent criminals. And they certainly should not be separated from their children. And while this was an uplifting video, her story makes me incredibly sad.
But where does it say she killed her husband? I guess I missed it.
@@bessmay5353she didn’t it doesn’t say what she does in the article but it does say her ex husband took custody of the kids after their divorce
Did this woman try to leave him at all?
LMAO by far the dumbest fuckin comment ever!!!!!!!!! It's a known fact women abuse the system when comes to domestic violence and it's a known fact that women when upset try to destroy another person reputation or character. 😂 Can only imagine the killing spree women would go on if they could get away with killing their husbands with no consequences
Murder is murder is murder tho
Oh I wish I could get a message to you. I think you are so beautiful. When you said your age it shocked me.
I suffer from severe depression. Your positive loving energy came all the way from the phone to me. I’ve lost my mother. I am alone.
I know this sounds weird but your story touched me. I wanted a hug from you. I see you as a strong woman. I know I don’t know you. But for some reason I just feel you are so good and healing.
Sending you a hug & prayers. I wish you could know the inspiration I felt watching your story. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽♥️♥️
Thank you so much. Glad this story could make an impact! Praying that you find peace in the Lord. God bless you!! ❤️❤️❤️
It's sad when you have to go to prison to discover you have value. Real encouraging.
Reminds me of a clip I watched from a show like dateline where they pointed out how a guy from the south ( USA) joined the military and he said he “finally found a place where he could be accepted for being who he is” this place was fighting the taliban in Afghanistan- pretty sad when you have to go to the taliban desert just to be accepted for being yourself ! She had value before she went to prison and all people should be accepted who are just being genuine but unfortunately it seems not the way it is
