I'm not originally from Indy (or even the Midwest for that matter) but I'm living here right now. She has been incredible for this city in ways you rarely see from an athlete, not just her national visibility but also she is incredibly active in the community here. Feels like she is everywhere.
Same, but have been an Indy pro bball fan for decades. From what I've learned about Caitlin - she was extremely involved in the community in Iowa as well (which is when she established the Caitlin Clark Foundation). It's beautiful to see, because she shares that same fire to give to younger generations like Tamika Catchings did throughout her career and still does to this day with her foundation (Catch the Stars) in Indy. Caitlin couldn't have a better role model than Tamika, and their Fever connection couldn't be more perfect given their mutual drive to give everything their all both on and off the court. They understand what it takes to grow the women's game and be ambassadors for future generations - inspiring, supporting, and lifting others up so they also strive for greatness themselves.
Fun fact. The largest (most attended) single day sporting on Earth is the Indianapolis 500. In May 2024 the Indianapolis Motor Speedway welcomes 325,000 race fans. The Indiana Fever hosts the New York Liberty at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on May 24, 2025. Undoubtedly, the game will sell all of the 17,925 seats. The Indianapolis 500 will sell more than 300,000 seats for the May 25 2025 running of the Indy 500. On that weekend, at least, the Indiana Fever will not be the biggest game in town
Every player coming in right now is laser focused on this opportunity....CHAMPIONSHIP! It's rare in sports to have this much momentum and be this strong relative to the rest of the league. Makes me happy inside!
Caitlin Clark has the Peyton Manning hand signals for crowd control... She demoed it once. She was flipping her hands face down at her hips while another Fever Team Mate was shooting free throws... Quieting the Arena 😮
Hi Edward, I honestly think CC's shooting EFFICIENCY will improve because: 1) there will be two additional excellent shooters on the Fever offense that opponents need to guard closely, so CC won't be double-teamed as much as last season; 2) DB will help to "spread the floor" because she frequently shoots (and scores) from 6-8 ft PLUS, OUTSIDE the three point line, again this necessitates that she be guarded at all times (and also opens up passing lanes); 3) CC has had the time off that she needed to rest, bulk-up, improve her versatility as a shooter, practice various mid-range shots, and practice her three pointers the most that she has been able to practice since the summer of 2023. She will be much less predictable and very difficult to guard effectively!!! She may not take as many shots this year, given the number of excellent shooters on the team, but her field goal % (especially her three point %) will almost certainly improve. Therefore, I'm thinking that her ppg will either remain about the same, or actually increase.😊
Funny, I thought of that too, and I would hope there is another option: they play so spectacularly fast (run, long passing, fast release) they overwhelm their opponents and score consistently over 100 points a game. Pipe dream?
Yes. I see 21 pts (38-39% from.3, 56%-57% from 2) on 16 shots a game with 7 boards and 12 assists. There are so many scoring options now, she won't have to launch 21 shots a game.
@@EdwardUrban-k5q I really hope they keep wheeler She gets the balls in the hands of the people that need it. She’s not trying to break the all-time scoring record by herself. A class act I think she’s wonderful. It’s gonna be a great year.
I have courtside seats row 2 against Dallas mid-July, also seeing the Atlanta game 2 days before. Went last year when we beat the Sun after the Olympics.
I’d love to see how much money this young woman is making for the WNBA, the Fever, Wilson, Indianapolis, away arenas, sports shows, social media. Hell, if Nike didn’t hate money and had her shoe out, they would be making obscene stacks. Not bad for an 80k rookie salary.
C'mon, everybody knows it's the CC22 show. IT's a Clarkcentric universe and the faster everyone realizes it the better. We call it the Fever, but really it's TeamClark.
I'm just happy we have Bonner on our side, along with these other classy players to play for the Fever. I love the idea that we have good people playing together to win basketball games as a well oiled machine working for one goal, to win basketball games!
Agreed, Robin. Why aren't they talking about Natasha Howard more? Stephanie White, Keith Porter, and Austin Kelly were probably all factors in Dewanna Bonner choosing to join the Fever as a free agent. Now she gets to be coached by Austin Kelly's wife as well (Karima Christmas-Kelly), who was also coached by Stephanie White on the 2012 Fever Championship team. As great as Caitlin was last season, she's putting in the work daily to get better with an incredible coaching staff. Hopefully most of the new Fever family members can get in the lab very soon. They'll need some additional time to acclimate to one another with so many new players, especially with Caitlin (because of how fast her passes can be). It'd be much better to not have to count on training camp to establish that if at all possible. I'm really glad that Caitlin chose to stay away from Unrivaled because it puts her in a position to potentially acclimate with teammates well in advance, unlike last season. They want to compete for a championship this coming season, that'll require chemistry to be established ASAP.
Sofie will bring the locker room together. She has a good Christian heart and very personable and fun. Colson will make the lockeroom laugh on anyday. Fever got the best of the best in every way on and off court. Their going to be the example for the league's success.
I actually see two teams within 1 team coming in Indiana. There are only so many stars that shine the brightest. Let's hope this is shared as a team effort as was in 2nd half of fever play last season.
@@williammoore5182 me too. That responsible is holding each other accountable with trust and honesty. They have old ladies who I hope will set good examples too
Yeap. I live in Texas, never thought about going to Indiana. Now I have tickets for my first Indiana home game 😂 and I want to go to the All Stars too! ❤
I really think Boston is going to benefit the most from Bonner and Howard’s presence. She’ll have experienced bigs to ride her and show her what she needs to be doing to get ready for the season.
I look forward to when they start training together, and I hope it happens soon. The risk could be that the shooting talent assembled there counts too many egos and not enough team players. Robin, as usual, your measured tone makes it a great listening.
Caitlin is too unselfish to foster that in any way. She would gladly score 17 a game with 15 assists to make sure everyone gets plenty of looks. Caitlin 17 Mitchell 18 Boston 13 Howard 15 Bonner 13 . 15 off the bench is 91 a game. That works for me.
Question The Fever have picked up no new all-stars, but I think Caitlin will if you can believe it be noticeably better, I know they got some really good new players some are older some a lot older do you really think they can win a title this year ---fingers crossed I'd like to get that out of the way.
Let us slow down here. Give the new team, "FEVER," at least the first ten games, before we can evaluate them. Then, we can see if they have a team that COULD win a championship. Slow your roll man.
The Fever is the team to watch in Indy. The Indy 500 is a major event. The Indianapolis Colts have terrible leadership, starting with the owner. I'd rather watch the Fever over the Colts. In fact I did this past season when they had a game in the same time slot.
Bonner shot 29% from 3 last season and Robin out here gaslighting again. In any other world they would call this CAP! It’s funny how a team that was on pace to be the best offense in the league after the all star break with sorry ass Christie Sides felt the need to revamp their roster with over the hill vets. All they really had to do was replace Sides with White & Smith with Janelle Salaun. This ain’t it! This is pure fuckery! Fever were dropping 90-100 points on almost everybody but for some reason we need to fuck up the chemistry.
You sound confused. Howard had her best scoring season last year. She shoots 55% from 2. 32% from 3. A good on and off-ball defender. Has good speed and agility. A huge upgrade from any forward last season. Bonner is still quick and durable. Very good defender. 6'4" Scores 15-17 every year. 83% from the line. Rarelly fouls. Huge upgrade from last season.
@ Katie Lou shot 33% from 3 just to give you some perspective. That’s not good! And Howard put up stats on the worst team in the league and had zero impact on winning.
Chemistry will need to be rebuilt. BB is a chemistry and talent thing. The Fever defense should be better, which was their problem last year. Plus, it’ll be harder to double team CC as much. If they do, she’ll set passing records.
