    I really like your background fabrics. I have made several orange peel quilts and never thought of using low volume print background fabrics.

    Hi Sherri, thank you for the video, great tips on how to make my own orange peel pillow and especially the pattern. I’m going to give it a try. Good luck with your quilt project, although I don’t think you’ll need it judging by your pillow. 🙂

    Do you use silk thread to hand appliqué?

    • @sherrimcconnell4094
      @sherrimcconnell4094 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no...I just use Aurifil 50 weight. Sometimes I use a lighter weight Aurifil cotton depending on the fabric.

    Thank you so much for the video and congrats on your accomplishment of making your orange peel project . This is a lot of steps to get the orange peels ready to appliqué down. I think you could appreciate if you invest in a electronic cutter such as a Brother Scan N Cut it would make your appliqué life soooo! much easier and faster to accomplish. Putting heat and bond on the back of the fabric and cut out as many shapes at one time as needed sounds like the way to go to me when doing appliqué. And thank you so much for the free pattern I also enjoy your channel.

    Thank you Sherri for the tutorial. I've been using cereal boxes for over 30 years to make templates. I was taught this method from a senior lady that had been quilting for about 60 years. Helen was my quilting mentor and I still miss her so much since she passed away in 2015.

    I haven't tried doing an orange peel before, but with your instructions I feel it is a doable adventure. When I took my first quilting class (1992) we made our templets using graph paper and we glued sandpaper to the back of the templets so they would not slip as we marked the cutting and sewing lines on fabrics. It's good to know some of the older methods are still being used from time to time. Thanks for the tutorial.
