I think that precision brake tool was developed at the Bathgate works, but I'm not 100% sure. It is, however, a complimentary accessory to go with the Glasgow socket set. I understand if it's difficult to tell them apart, especially after dark. Anyway, why did Leyland have to make that brake mechanism so complicated? They could have had words with DB about how they implemented their braking system, and would have complimented Sekura S80 cab that they borrowed. We didn't get many Leyland tractors out here, but of the few we saw, I can't think of anyone who complained about them. Our local stock of tractors were all Ford, Fergie, or Nasher, and a scattering of DB. The Major sounds well! And started up like a real trouper, just as a Major should. I still remember our old Major firing up when nothing else would, and the depths of a 1970's winter, and using it to drag all the other machines over to the exhaust fans of the grain dryer, so we could light it up and thaw them out. That put a bit of a brake on our sugar beet harvesting for that day, but I digress. Let's hope a lot of dogs will benefit from your labours.
Thanks for the updates! I'm not really surprised someone would neglect their tractor brakes. Some figure they can throttle down, select a lower gear and find a very flat spot to stop on. It sounds completely dumb, but some do think that way. I guess they think "I'm not going that fast so I don't need them" but the fact is, you do. So I agree with you 100%. 🚜
Nice one Mucker . Great Vid as usual and appreciate the work that goes into restoring classics! The importance of the innovation that went into these machines was as vital then as the Vario shift gearbox was in recent history for example.
A quick and crisp start up on the super major! And nice to see the proper special tools are being used for the Leyland brakes.... Good luck with all the upcoming jobs! Cheers!
Try Charnleys for your Leyland tractor bits. Great to deal with and know their stuff. Great rundown of the projects, now off with you and hurry down the road after that ice cream van. 😀
I hope you plan to let us know more about the mud guards aka "fenders" here in the Colonies. No one here rebuilds those quiet cabs so we don't have aftermarket body parts like you obviously do.
I am not surprised about the brakes my dad used my old Deutz d10006 to spread manure from a heifer barn about a mile down the road. First the main brakes master stopped working so he started using the hand brake then it stopped working but instead of fixing it he started using the reverse synchronizer to slow the tractor down. My brother fixed the brakes a bit later not bad for a child. Somehow that machine took all that abuse and she still shifts nice.
The working overalls, NOT a pretty ‘going out’ pair! 😁 Good to hear that noise. Waiting for the test drive. Nice to see you trying out aftermarket replacement body parts, almost like watching a Mr Landcruiser episode on replacement 40 series body/chassis parts.
Well melod, An interesting update. Brakes are a useful thing especially if you farm up on hilly land. Maybe Fred Flintstone owned it previously and used an implement on the back as a brake? Just lower it down and jamb it into the earth's crust until the tractor stops? Crude, effective and eliminates the need to use the foot pedal. When fitted with a front end loader, that could be used as an emergency stop!
Brakes on a Leyland!!!! Well poke me with a knotter needle LOL. Those mudguards look hefty enough Mucker its nice to see something that fits decent .Great vid its nice to see the major alive .
Hi there me lord, It looks like it’s coming along nicely just can’t wait to see you taking a spin down the road, You take care of yourself and stay safe and well 🚜🚜🚜👀
It's great now there's a lot of repair panel's for the Ford q cabs as the rot would put people off. I know there can be a bit of work on some but a least it makes things easier...👍
Those mudguards are lovely nice bit of Tig welding it looks like 👍 The major sounds sweet and new bits will make it nicer ! Those brakes can’t understand why people don’t sort stuff out :( if you want a hand give me a shout I can venture north of the border for a days Rust removal and WD40 session if you’d like :) Keep up the good content it’s nice to see !
Hi from durham KM @ LM👋👍 great to see things still moving forward with the projects👌 and thing with time on few project they kinda all come together well and roughly at same time👍 and the dozer in outro was that the one in the leanto bit that was a bit stuck with bit work you and Kimberly took to the moonrevs and you looked at her like 😒 chill out lady😂😂 lol thanks for your time and be safe see you soon 👍👋
Forgot about the Leyland! I love the precision sledgehammer, must be a gold plated. Brakes! Naaa isn't that a brick tied to a piece of string?! Those mudguards look top notch, certainly some good work gone into them will be a proper job when they finally manufacture a batch. Are they looking to do other model lines as well?
Excellent video Lord Muck :) yes nice Small Ford tractor run again also big Ford to and old yellow too ! Pretty soon you have all tractors fix and be working new ones for to fixing up on too!
So that's where my Sealey rechargeable torch went. I've been all over the workshop looking for the sodding thing and you've got it stuck on top of the Super Major. I'll have it back when you're finished with it please.
Can you do a video on how to change hydraulic oil please. I'm doing a bit of work on an International 444 tractor, so if you have any videos on that tractor could you leave me a link to them please? Thanks, great video as always
you looked suprised at how quick that tractor started, is that fair? are most tractors like the leyland, hydraulics working mechanical linkages? keep up the good work, hopefully utube will be nice + tell me more often
I was just wondering farmers r gettin a bad touch about nitrogen levels in the atmosphere at the min but was thinking that adblue is made from urea an it is nitrogen is that not risin nitrogen lever in the air r is it totally different am I am getting the wrong end of the stick
If you think the brakes are worn you will know if they grab when you use them because the balls run too far up the track. They will do this long before they will shed their linings. Year’s ago we just added a extra steel inter plate even a used one will do . This goes against logic but it works fine and is only takes a few minutes to slip it in.
Odd I don't remember my dad owning that 🤔 the Ford 3000 didn't have brakes either but there were always trees that available, the grill was proud of it's involvement. There wasn't a lot of speed involved steering box was , well like wet spaghetti system ! So if you don't have trees near by okay fix the brakes 🤣🤷♂️
Great update on the projects 👍 as for the Leyland brakes reckon the one we had musta come from the same previous owner 🙄🤬 am sure your followers wouldn't mind doin another fund raiser fire the collie charity raise some money for them 👍👍
You tractor must have come from somebody like me from somebody like me didn't know how I didn't want to spend any money but you learn the hard way you find things need money spent on them and do need to be done
Yabba yabba doo Farmer Fred Flintstone was last farmer driving Leyland tractor n he definitely gay old time with handbrakey LOL lucky he wasn’t towing because I bet he didn’t have trailer brakes either. I bet old Fordson will move, when changing gears at least there was some care despite been old.
Fcukin hell if there was a trophy for channel most wiped from notifications you my pedigree chum would win it!! Dont know what it is with your channel mucka but you keep getting bumped from my saved channels!! Just thought I'd let you know as it may be happening to other's out there!! Do well! 👊✊️💥💨💨💨💨

that was good that was, and really good that the mudguards fit straight on like that, thats a definite bonus, look forward to the next one
I'm glad you said the police car siren and the ice cream joke, as I say it all the time. With minimal response.
What a Tuesday treat 🙂 nothing like keeping busy, the old super is looking tidy sounds lovely they are a great tractor

The boy-band haircut takes years off you! The mud-guards look the business, I'm guessing the production ones will be powder coated.
Always been the same just without the hat
Question could you do a video on how to lift the Roof on the Q cab. Please 🙏

Damm good video again Mucker! Are the mudguards on the 78 the same as the 66-67 as the cabs do look similar? Fenland Rob
Love that dog she’s a beaut!
Wonder if they got the original pressings for that mud gaurd they seem to marry up really well just as you said
Great video mucker
Hand crafted to make the pattern.
Cracking on mucka keep up the good stuff
Mr Muck! You missed uploading a video last week! And why haven't you sent me notifications in my mail to alert me? This is outrageous! How dare you!

Fantastic entertainment as always, hope the steel is as thick as the originals on the wings.
Add paint and primer and they are the same.

Leave them wanting more 😉👌🏼
Very nice video
So you gave the brake pedals. A gentle nudge with a BFH. 😂😂😂
👍
genial suena
Maybe you mistakenly used a metric sledge hammer on those brakes instead of an imperial, they'd have defo worked otherwise ha

Wander if leyland could have been sat running something like a wood prossesor or pump in the same spot
And ? Who lets something get to that point ?

Why should I be thankful that there are so many tight, lazy twats around ? They are a fucking danger.
