J. K. Rowling is just a human being, with human shortcomings. I hate cancel culture, even when it's perceived as deserved, because it distills a complex human being down to just a few moments/thoughts/words/actions. We're all too complex. J. K. Rowling gave this world a gift with the world of Harry Potter, and I just finished reading her book, "The Christmas Pig" last night. She really is such an amazing author!! But she's also a human being. That's my hot take no one asked for.
Long time no see! (on my end not yours). good points! i liked the mould analogy. also I approve of the LGBTQ and the tea making. especially the tea making.
The way I see the whole race issue, is that there's been an implied asterisk next to protected rights that have long excluded certain races, religions, genders, etc, when defining those rights. In a society that often thinks less of Black people simply for being Black, "Black Lives Matter" was the response to that mentality. Basically what it really meant was "Black Lives Matter, Too". Naturally, there are those who dislike that notion and have tried to straw-man the issue by suggesting the slogan means "Only Black Lives Matter", thus attempting to delegitimize the movement. But it's really an asshole move. Imagine a woman trying to raise funds for her Breast Cancer treatment being told that "All Cancers Are Deadly" as a justification for why she shouldn't seek help in funding her treatment. The way religion has been weaponized against the lgbtqia+ community makes everything especially frustrating because it gives people permission to set aside logic and reason, thus closing themselves off from attempts to enlighten themselves on kindness and community.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Absolutely! The point you bring up about “black lives matter, too” rings so true. That’s exactly what I was trying to get at, because that’s something I’ve heard people say. It’s dismissed because they think it’s “too big of a thing” and that everyone matters. Yes, that’s the whole point as they’re clearly missing it. Also, hey! I was just thinking about you yesterday. How are you? It’s been ages since we talked. I stumbled upon things you’d shared on Dropbox way back in 2011.
@@maccadole Hi Mac: Thanks so much for remembering me, and sorry for this late response. I turned off notifications many years ago as it just clogged up my email with mostly useless notifications. So I didn't immediately see your message. It feels like TH-cam has made it harder to communicate directly with other TH-camrs as compared to 2011. I would love to talk again offline, if we can figure out how to coordinate it.
Mac, have you noticed any discussions going on in the Swedish press about Sweden joining NATO? I heard Finland and Sweden are considering joining NATO. I was wondering if that was a big thing in Sweden or just passes by un-noticed.
I haven’t heard anything recent because I haven’t kept up with a lot of news this past week. But there’s definitely been a lot of back and forth and debates regarding it, yeah.
I'm glad you're still making videos all these years later
Thanks. 🙂 me, too.

This response is 100% what I think, too, but you're so much more succinct than I could have put it so thanks!
