  • With 8 she entered Showbusiness: Australian singer-songwriter "I'm in Chains" Tina Arena
Now with 48 she knows, what she is talking about, when she says absolutely no to those so-called talent search tv shows for overnight superstars of tomorrow like „The Voice UK“, "The X-Factor" ect...
    It comes by surprise.
„O-ooh, powerfully honest!“, one of her perplex interviewers resumes.

Love you Tina.. But gezzz your always so intense about the music industry.
I know why..she always had a chip on her shoulder simply because she finds it hard to stay "relevant" in the music industry...manly because the big guns want more of the" Kylies" and the gagas of this world.. Boring gets you nowhere.

I think she's intense about the music industry because even back when she was just starting out the industry wanted to turn her into something she was not. Granted she's not seen the sort of success that she could have but at least she's been true to herself.
I suppose you'd be better off using the word 'mainstream' rather than relevant though. There are hundreds of signed artists out there writing and performing to the beat of their own drum. Artists that have been signed specifically because they are making good music. Lots of people don't want, nor like, mainstream successes like Kylie or Gaga and that's where some of the smaller, less well known, artists come in.

Hmmm no wonder she is though. The music industry these days is a joke, pumping the same stuff and low-talent individuals whereas someone like Tina Arena can play the piano, write and sing her own songs without the help of 5-6 producers.
You also underestimate how big she was worldwide at her peak or how "relevant" she still is. In the 1990s she was one of the most well known figures of Australian music internationally. In recent years she has played the lead in a musical and been decorated by her country.
I would not call that "boring". In fact "boring" is precisely what Kylie and Gaga should be described as: doing the same thing over again and again, showing lots of flesh to make up for their lack of ability.
