One of the greatest organists ever. Im sure that by this finale of his concerto he was dying for a cigarette. He was known for smoking during mass on the organ balcony. he had his ashtray right next to the manuals.
@@AlessandroSistiMusic this is common knowledge. I have seen him smoking at the organ console several times myself and there are a few vids on youtube were you can see him smoking. He was a chain smoker. that is also what killed him sadly.
Great imrpov, but what else should we expect from this man! However, the upper work on this organ sounds absolutely vile at times- a problem thats only diffused when those wonderful reeds come on!
I asked once to Olivier Penin, the titulaire, and no, it's not a new division. He said that maybe they will add it in the future, but for now there are only the chamades

Exceptionnel, le mot est parfaitement approprié ! Chapeau bas
What a delight it is to hear him play. So sorry he is no longer with us. I would go to Mass at St. Denis every Sunday. LOL.
Outstanding performance....organplaying at its beauty and at its best
enthousiasmant, vraiment, merci

The link doesn't work...
@@ErreEffe Sorry! Try: www.orgue-clotilde-paris.info/orgues-f.htm
Yes but the chamades are disgusting !!!!

13:58 - anyone recognize this melody? Is it a chant tune?
Vexilla regis prodeunt
@@Theodopolis But of course! Thanks very much.
@@AlessandroSistiMusic No, it's Ave Maris Stella. The Virgin Mary's favorite hymn (private revelation to one of her devotees)
@@josephlindquist506 Most of the movement is based on Ave Maris Stella, yes, but the bit at 13:58 is based on Vexilla Regis!
What is the fourth manual for? Has the Clotilde organ gotten a new a division?
it works as a permanent enclosed division with the ashes of Aristide and César.....
I asked once to Olivier Penin, the titulaire, and no, it's not a new division. He said that maybe they will add it in the future, but for now there are only the chamades
Unearthly
Pas si mal, Mssr.
