Holly I truly wouldn’t have noticed if you didn’t workout once in a vlog. Not to discredit your hard work and your fitness content, it is amazing. But I think the majority of us are here solely to watch you because we enjoy it!
Was going to say the same thing! Have seen lots of vlogs where girls workout everyday but i do not enjoy them. We watch your vlogs because of you and your personality, everything else is just extra and something we have in common ❤
IS THIS EVEN A QUESTION, MATCH WITH HIM!!! It's a power move, honestly - like, if you match with him he knows that you are taking a risk (which is fun + cool) - also men all have egos (don't we all) and he will be THRILLED that his cute neighbor matched with him. Even if he didn't take interest before, he will be taking an interest now! keep us updated!! also if a dude ghosts, omg he is immature. I hope this man would be mature enough to be able to handle a fun relationship in the building! OVER communication is key!!!
Trust me, most of us are sitting on our plump posteriors watching this, PLEASE give yourself the rest and recovery you need, no one sensible is gonna judge you. I have now had to take extensive rest from years of a full-on schedule of weight training, advanced reformer and being a construction manager as a day job. I’m now having to change my mindset, put recovery first and go a little easy on myself despite the buzz all the training gives me. All the best Holly.
Thank you so much. It's funny isn't it, how hard it is to take our own advice and rest because I would say the same to you! I hope you are looking after yourself xx
I’ve had back surgery for scoliosis, my entire spine is fused with metal. Since I’ve been a physique competitor, triathlete, done plenty of spartan races and was training for an iron man but got pregnant (while having pcos). Since you’re already an athlete your recovery should be a lot smoother and it’s very possible to still achieve your fitness goals ❤ Hope this provides some hope/help even though every body is different.
Me too! I’ve had the surgery twice and have been able to do triathlons and everything active i love to do! it takes a lot of patience in recovery but you come out so much stronger and are able to conquer anything!
We watch you for you holly don’t feel bad not showing workout videos!!! I have seen so many people be able to river and manage spinal injuries at my work it’s part mental game as well and how you see injury impacts how it feels but you sound like you have great medical team around you all the best !!
Just sharing a small encouragement for you to show that light can come from really dark/uncertain times! my husband had spinal surgery a few years ago after herniating 2 discs (he had no diagnosis for about 10 months aswell) the thought of having intense back surgery at 26 was terrifying, and something he never thought he would have to face. Fast forward to now, he’s completely pain free, he’s healthier, fitter, and stronger than ever 👏🏼 and in a weird way is grateful for his injury! It’s hard, but with a diagnosis, a good doctor, and a support crew around you, you will be okay too 😊
Hi Holly! As someone who has a chronic back injury ( 2 herniated discs, arthritis, and bilateral SI joint dysfunction) there is something really freeing about the acceptance that comes from knowing what's wrong. I still struggle from chronic pain BUT there are just as many things I can still do as there are that I cannot do. BEST of luck on your back journey!!!!!!
Hi sweet Holly! I know it's so hard to have an injury and not feel that runners high, but I really want you to know that what you are doing with pilates and swimming and strengthening your body is really the best thing for preventing injury in the future. Core strength is truly everything, as you said, and literally supports everything!!! I started heated yoga and strength mobility classes this past summer (in Hollywood if you'd like to join! 😎👍) and it has made me appreciate my body and my strength so much. Sending you love always! Hi Nayla! xo 🥰💓💓💓💕
Hey Holly, I just want to let you know that God is with you every step of the way. everything is going to be okay. I love your video thank you for being so real and raw with us. ❤❤❤
I am so sorry Holly - definitely dont do anything because of this channel / us, focus on recovery and strength, plus finding other joyful ways of moving (hiking, walking, yoga, pilates, cycling maybe, swimming) to be prepared for surgery recovery. Wishing you all strength on this journey. Also always get a second opinion before having surgery 😊
So sorry about your injury, maybe the operation is something you should do rather soon to be able to move on and not get any other injuries from your body trying to protect itself? I think it’s easy to get new injuries in these cases because you (without thinking about it) move differently when in pain? I don’t know. But I know Nalu is incredibly cute and fluffy, and you should match the cutie in your building! Imagine what might happen, so romantic ❤
Thank you so much for the lovely comment! I completely understand your point, it's 100% valid but thats why I'm going to be working with a professional now to help guide me through trying to manage this in a non-surgical route! Surgery right now just seems very drastic, especially seeing as I am young I would love to give my body a chance to strengthen up and see if its possible to work around the surgery! Nala says thank you hehe x
You can do this ,I have 3 artificial discs,a fusion, lots of hardware etc. it’s a big step but I just want to say you gave me so much motivation to get going again ,after to having to relearn quite a lot ,love to you now and always ❤
I felt the same exact way a few weeks ago, I had an abrupt knee injury after running and it was so frustrating not being able to run as it’s my only way of decompressing and relieving stress (besides the gym, but it just doesn’t hit the same as running 😢). I did some yoga and that seemed to help as well as adjusting my routine to do less cardio, more strengthening and more stretching. That helped me heal a bit, I still feel it after my long runs but it’s way better than before. Just gotta keep going ❤
I am so sorry to hear you got injured, I completely relate to what you're saying. Well done on adjusting and follwoing the needs of your body!! It's hard but your running will only benefit in the long run!
@@hollyb_fitness yes! It’s the best way to see things, it’s a sacrifice in the short term but will only benefit us in the long run. And in the end, it’s truly just a blessing to be able to move our bodies. I’m gonna try your strategy of writing 3 things I’m grateful for everyday too!
Holly so sorry to hear about your back injury. I went through something similar a few years ago the only thing is i kept going with excerise, not intense but i ruined another disc and i couldnt walk for weeks. I ended up having to take 18 months off from everything completely and luckily through nerve blocks and epidurals i didnt have to get surgery but i still deal with flare ups now and again and need to stop weights and running during those flare up. Its hard to put down the fitness part of yourself especially as its part of your career but you are so young to have back problems already and your health is so important!
Hi Holly, good on you for ability to turn around your mindset so quickly. You should be proud of yourself. It must have felt really scary particularly when part of your livelihood comes from being active! We are here to watch activities or not :)
Nala seems to bring so much extra joy into your life, and probably takes your mind of your injury ♥ If you see him on Hinge don't like him, but try talking to him!! Or do extreme stalking and find out his name (or just ask him lol)! Try just befriend him. I got too invested in this story!! Also you are BEAUTIFUL in you workout/home clothes ♥
Holly, I would get medical advice from the UK for something this big. American doctors are cowboys! Surgery should be a last resort, if it's just pain when you run it's not needed. These surgeries can go wrong and could lessen your over all quality of life. I think if you spoke to a doctor in the UK you'd get a very different approach and advice. Love your content, and I'd watch anything you put out.
Couldn’t agree more with this. I am a physio in the UK, and this is part of the reason that as physios, we feel that scans aren’t always helpful. Incidental findings on scans can often result in increased pain due to the anxiety/fear avoidance behaviour. SO many adults (including athletes) would find similar injuries on scans, however since they are unaware of them, they aren’t held back. Stay strong and positive, do not jump in for surgery as this is rarely essential at your age. You got this. 🩷💪🏼
As a physiotherapist I couldn’t agree more with this statement. I have seen people be told this outside of the U.K. and then have very successful rehab stories following! Surgery is a last option and generally would only be considered in the U.K. if someone is experiencing spinal cord or nerve damage. If you look up the stats of how common degeneration, disc bulges etc are without a clear correlation to pain it’s enlightening! It’s great to hear you found a physio who has given you hope Hollie. All the best with your journey!
Physio from the UK here! So sorry to hear about your injury Holly. I’ve lived in the US and experienced the healthcare system out there as well as the UK- all I’m going to say is please please get a second opinion back home! I can’t promise you won’t get the same answer as the surgeon in the US gave you but in the UK surgery tends to be the last resort option :) As I say to all of my patients that receive bad news… Even on the darkest of days, the sun always rises again! Love watching your vids 🌟
Holly, not to lessen the seriousness of your injury, but consider getting a second opinion on the surgery. Back surgery is a huge surgery and usually a last resort. Maybe some other doctors and functional specialists can help you in different ways, before just recommending surgery! Xxx Same happened to me and I got control over my back pain by doing rehab. My disc is still herniated - but no pain (for now). Good luck!
I think regarding the neighbour, I would just wait for the next interaction and try to make small talk. That shows that you are friendly and confident which is attractive to guys. If the interaction goes well, I would perhaps then match with him. But either or girly, you are stunning I doubt he would even reject you, he’s in the app for a reason and you really have nothing to lose❤️
Hey Holly! One - another great video. Really look forward to your uploads!! Two - Nala is the cutest!!🥹 The perfect duo! Three - SHOOT YOUR SHOT! You’ve got one life!! It’s not that deep. If he doesn’t match - his loss and so what! Wasn’t meant to be! BUT ya never going to know if you don’t tap that button!!! GO ON GIRL! X ps - patiently waiting for your next upload!!🤣♥️
I feel like the "match" option is deffo for-the-plot vibes 😂 self preservation vibes are to start chatting a bit more each time you see him (ooooor try and find him on one of the apps where you don't know they liked you till you match! 👀)
I’d go for it with the guy in your building- not on the apps though. Next time you see him let Nala jump on him and then apologize and say I owe you one- how about coffee? So authentic!!!
A suggestion if you want it, treat walk time as the most boring unexciting thing as you are getting the lead and leaving the house to minimise pulling and jumping at the start of a walk :)
Im a fitness girl with a spinal injury and an ankle injury so i know the feeling it does stop me doing some exercises i just take it easy with my core workouts
Hi Holly and Nala - I also have a golden doodle (Teddy) she’s just sat and watched nala in this one and thought I’d say that every time teddy comes home from the groomers I tell her the other dogs are going to laugh at her at the park too 😂
If he isn’t across the hall/right next door then match! You’ve been there for 10 months and only seen him a handful of times so if it doesn’t pan there won’t be a major change needed.
Hi I had disc damage, I was offered a double disc replacement but went down a different route, I had an endoscopic laser forminoplasty, (S1/L5 & L4/5), I was told it would last 8-10 years that was 30 years ago, I obviously have some discomfort but I’ve learnt how to deal with having a weakened back and degenerative discs but still run, cycle and ski. No exercise? You went swimming, did a Pilates class and two dog walks. Are they not forms of exercise? I don’t just watch you for the workouts. Also Match with your neighbour, YOLO! 😃
I’ve been on a date with someone who lived a few floors above me and it was a great date but I didn’t have much sexual attraction. I’ve then told him and we never saw each other again for 8 months after and I moved out lol. If you see him all the time - then it Might be awkward. But if you don’t - then maybe it’s worth it? But also, I think maybe try throwing hints when you see him next instead of matching online
NEVER date anyone you will have to see if it ends. Thats where you live or work or a friend of a friend. I personally love a good clean break. Delete you off my socials then out of sight out of mind.
I looked so INSANELY good one day last week, you don't think that I met my old 5 year long school crush, who I still dream about even though I'm not even interested, the NEXT day? 🫠 A day I was swollen, my makeup was bad and my hair looked awful. Why does it always happen like that! 😹
