SAVED BY THE BELL (2020): When California governor Zack Morris gets into hot water for closing too many underfunded high schools, he proposes they send the affected students to the most well-funded schools in the state - including Bayside High. It really is incredible casting. He’s got the attitude and he makes certain faces sometimes and it’s uncanny how much he looks like MPG.
If they didn't show both him and Zack together I would find him okay but with the exact comparison I find mac annoying

I'm probably biased, but hear me out - most new TV shows don't make it, don't they? Saved By The Bell survived as original content primarily on the strength of Mark-Paul Gosselaar's charisma. I feel like without the branding and series boost, this kid wouldn't carry this show into being an international young adult classic.

Saved by The Bell is just so iconic. Why the new shows/reboots are just full of not necessary drama? It's just like so pointless. The original had so many funny and bright plots which were entertaining in their own way. I'm glad that we still have access to these older shows
Define “iconic,” because the original show was pretty bad and the jokes were terrible. What drama does the new one have? It’s pure comedy. I can tell you’ve never watched it.

To all of you saying the new one is trying to hard do you not realise that’s the whole point? It’s satirical, it’s meant to look like it’s trying to hard because the original was too. It took itself too seriously so this show makes fun of that in the best way possible. Even the OG cast makes fun of themselves in this.
Yeah but that ruins the entire show for the kids who have never seen saved by the bell. It's like watching a pop culture comedy when you don't know any of the references. Ngl kinda giving off fuller house vibes.

It seem like new cast is trying too hard to mimic that Save by Bell vibe like back in the 90s. It just ain't happening. 😅 The 90s Save by the Bell was a true classic and can never grow old no matter how many times you watch the episodes over and over again. And even though there were corny moments in it back then, the cast was just natural with it and it worked.

The new generation of teens/young adults don't have the same attraction/good looks as teen/young adults back in the day.
As an 80s child and 90s teen this show was a big part of my childhood and I tried to watch the new version but it is awful. The acting is bad. The messaging is bad. The opening theme is atrocious. They can't capture the magic of the original and I don't understand why people like this.

I was born in 1993 (half milennial half Gen Z). I feel like a lot of the iconic 90s and 2000s show are not given a proper reboot. Batman the animated series is supposed to be rebooted...I'm praying it's done well

Too bad the character Tory Scott was short lived in the original series. I really loved her personality. Once she left, we have never seen or heard from her again. She was my favorite.

What this actually shows is just how good the teen actors of the original "Saved By The Bell" were. They really understood the comedic beats of the show and were fantastic at staying present in the scene (especially Mark-Paul Gosselaar). Little moments like him starting to laugh at Mr. Belding's hair before Slater says his line (giving the appearance that Slater is pulling his focus when, in reality, he already knew Slater's line was coming) just makes the scene appear more real. That naturalistic quality (and comedic timing) is really hard to find in actors that young. The current teen cast are more typical of teen actors, a bit theatrical and possibly a tad over-rehearsed.

How many of you have a feeling that Zach knew what Mac was talking about when he said you know as a prank how he stood there for a second and knew he meant hang out with his son like he did the same thing with his dad and his dad said I'm going fishing with my son how many of you thought Zach knew what his son was actually talking about wanting to do with him.
Literally everyone in the comments were probably 80s 90s kids. I live for this show. I have seen at least 4 seasons of the original one but this one stays in my heart. I love the reboot and I completely disagree with these comments smh

Old show was only about 15 percent social engineering. This one is about 90.
Such a shame the show got canceled. It's literally the only reboot I have enjoyed. Doesn't take itself seriously at all and is hilarious.
