So, this song..... This song is so so so deep it's hard to even explain. Vessel is so crazy good with lyrics and meaning and juxtaposition. So ascension in this song, first off, is not going up. He is playing with the fact that one can ascend but not in the positive in fact in this song it is the opposite. Just like how someone can ascend through the levels of hell he is ascending through a transition that is destroying him. Have you ever heard the phrase "Live long enough the hero you will eventually see yourself become the villain", well that is what this song is about. The person he is talking to in this song has changed him into the monster that they are and he allowed it to happen. And at the end of the song he hates what he has become. He wants to disappear.
