  • Is your car, especially one with an Ecotec engine, making this noise? Don't panic! It could simply be a plastic guide or tensioner for your balancing chain. To access this part for replacement I strongly recommend The Flying MechanicDIY (no relation)'s easy-to-follow video found here: • SAAB 93 BALANCE CHAIN ...

Came here from Reddit. Thank you again for this video. The flying mechanic's video only had the replacement in it, no diagnosing. This will be very helpful.

I had this exact sound and wobble on the engine on my old saab 9-3.
Thanks for the short and straight to the point video!

I’m experiencing the exact same issue with my 06 reg 1.8 turbo petrol, great pointer, very concise diagnosis, think I’ll start here

I have a similar sound that goes away when engine warms up a bit. Does this piece stop making noise when engine is warm?

Typical ecotec. Just replace the lot, I did. Yes it does run the water pump.

Hi. Thanks for video. How long did it take to get access to the chain and how long to do the job in total?
