Thank you so much! I really really appreciate you saying so. I wish more people thought so haha it’s getting very low views compared to my other kinds of videos 🥲
I’m such a visual learner so seeing the graphic and close ups were so helpful! Would love to see a hoya video if you haven’t already done one because I struggle to propagate hoyas!
I just repotted some of my Brazil propagations into my pot this weekend It looks super awkward still lol but one day I’ll have a good pot of Brazil I’m slowly working on my micans as well lol but it’s look pretty cute 😊
Yay! Nothing works better than sphag in a self watering lot, tent it and forget it. I’m about to add some smaller pots of the same plants and props into one hanging basket, but my biggest brasil is super full and taking over the atheism with tricks like this!
This is such a timely video as I got my first Philodendron micans over the weekend. It has long internodes so when I get it home I'll be chopping and propping. I also got a Scindapsus (I watched your video) that only has three leaves and I'm scared. These types of videos are awesome Harli and because of you, I'm better able to take care of them. Thanks for sharing Harli.
That is incredible! It is never that easy for me! I still have to just do the cuttings in water and then add to the pot. You have the gift! You make it look so easy to have such success in straight soil!
Thank you so much. This video helped a ton; loved the referenced images to the right as you're elaborating on the axillary buds. I have been propagating my Philodendron for a few months and have just transferred into soil! I am nervous but very excited! Thank you!
My Brasil has been thriving in water! I water propped a cutting and ended up leaving it in the water (that I change out every couple of weeks) because it has grown so much faster!
@@dclarkmcdonald I just cut up my PPP into 6-7 cuttings and it's rooting rather quickly. I used a little rooting hormone so it may have helped. I cut them, dabbed the end in rooting powder, let them sit for a few hours, then placed in water. I noticed I need to change the water a little more often compared to my pothos cuttings.
Great video Harli. I have loads of pothos cuttings in water at the moment that are very overdue for potting up 😂 I might just stick them all in one pot and see what they look like
Hi Harli- Love the video. It told me exactly what I needed to know. I'm curious and if i may ask, what is that plant that is there on your table in the white pot? If you don't mind, I'd love to know. Thank you and greetings from Oklahoma City. Mark
I’m going to try this with my Mican. She’s one of my favorites! So to make sure I’m understanding, you just water and let the soil mostly dry out like a typical philodendron? I’ve only propagated in water and sphagnum moss.
Hi Harli, thank you. I find that regardless of the topic or the specific plant you’re teaching us about, I’m always learning something new. I have a question today and I’d like your opinion or any of your subscribers feedback. While I have several plants indoors, I keep most outside until it gets cold (I’m in NE Florida). I have more outside than inside because it drives me nuts to see the dirt in the pot inside my house🤷♀️. I realize that’s kinda crazy being a plant lover. I was thinking of adding some vining plants around the sides of my planters p, where I can see the dirt. Is there any problem with that? Are there plants that typically don’t grow well with other plants? Currently I’ve just been adding rocks to hide the dirt but I think I’m killing a few. It seems like they retain moisture longer than they should. Anyways……can I grow multiple plants in the same container if they have the basic needs such as lighting, watering schedule, etc? Thanks, Robin
Wow, thanks so much Harli, I love my Philodensron brazil, and I have propagated her to make a fuller plant just recently and she is doing good and the plant is getting nice and full and she seems pretty happy. I really appreciate your videos like this that you share, you always have such great tips and advice on how to care for plants. Stay safe and happy, sending love and hugs, bye!! 💜💞💜❄❄☃🎄
Ugh, I wonder if that's what i did to my Brazil, i tried to prop a while ago and am getting zero new growth on the plant where I cut. And all new growth coming in on untried ones has leaves literally only the size of a dime. Why the small leaves? It has been a good grower in the past, I haven't changed light or watering habits. I need normal size leaves again! Help, please! Loved this video!
Perhaps a silly question, but if I have a 'node' with an axillary bud, but no aerial roots, can I still cut below that node in order to propagate my Brasil? I am very (very) new to successfully growing any plant, and really dont want to damage it 😅
thank you for this!! i have a philo as well and she’s been growing vines now since i got her this summer !!! i want to make her bushier but i wasn’t exactly sure how. thank you again!!
Love your vids! Was wondering what tips you had for a Philodendron Fuzzy Petiole!! I’ve had one for a few weeks now and it’s been producing some massive leaves! Just wondered from your experience if you had any tips or tricks
Hey! I actually don’t have one of those, but I do have a philodendron fibrosum! I’ve found it doesn’t like to dry out between waterings completely, but other than that it’s been shelf easy 😊 I think the fuzzy petiole might be along those same lines, but I don’t know for certain
@@HarliG thank you so much for replying!! I gotcha, I am probably going to need to repot and add a moss pole of some sort soon! I have found mine has liked staying lightly moist but not wet! I need to post some pics asap!
Just put 5 nodes in water and 1 back in the soil either the mother planet to see which one works better. 🤞🏻Hopefully it works and I didn’t just waste 6 perfect good leaves and half a vine
For some reason, when I put even rooted cuttings back into the mother plant, they usually rot. I don’t know how to fix that issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated, Harli? Thank you!😊🪴🪴🪴🪴
You could always try a more airy potting mix! I’ll talk about it in an upcoming video, but root rot happens when the bacteria in the soil competes with the plant roots for the oxygen in the air pockets. Larger air pockets=less competition bc there’s more oxygen to go around
@@HarliG Hmmmm…..I will add more pumice and/or perlite next time, but I was thinking that since the mother plant was doing fine, then the rooted cuttings would do well if I put them back into the mother plant I took them from. (Usually, I root them in water and then transition them into a smaller pot of soil for a few weeks first before putting them back with the mother plant. But obviously, I am still done something wrong. But I am not giving up trying to make my plants fuller. It’s been quite the learning curve figuring out how airy my mixes should be.🤣 Looking forward to your next video, as well! Thanks, Harli!🪴😊
The mother plant likely has a larger root system that has the ability to pull from more pockets than the smaller root system. Water roots also have a waxy coating on them whereas substrate roots don’t so it changes the way they are able to absorb the oxygen & water
@@HarliG Hmmm….I did. It know that but it makes sense!😊 Right now, I have some cuttings rooting in perlite (in uncovered pots) because many of my cuttings rot in plastic closed perlite prop boxes). Going to see if that helps. Thanks so much, Harli!🪴🪴🪴
