Thanks a lot for this tutorial. I was able to give some depth to my elevations, which gives it a really nice look. However, there is still one thing I don't understand. In my case, drawing a section and not an elevation, my wall windows and roof windows keep displaying shadows as if they were solid, not transparent. How can I set it to remain "transparent" and eventually display the background sky texture
You'll need to turn of shadows in the section marker settings. There's no way to have shadows on the elevation parts and not on the section parts...unless you do some tricky view combining on a Layout (not worth it).
Hi, thanks for the video ! since you seem to know Archicad quite well, maybe you will be able to help me. I did everything as shown in the video, and it works great for the views with colours (shadows and colours ok) but if I just want the shadows and no colours, id doesn't work anymore. I have the same problem in the 3D view. Textures and shadows work, but white and shadows doesn't. Do you have any idea as what could be causing that ?
It's hard to say without seeing the file. There's probably some minor conflict or missing setting. Download my template: www.shoegnome.com/template/ (it's free if you want it to be) and check the settings I have in the elevations and different 3D styles. In my template you'll find grayscale elevations with shadows and lower down in the view map the same elevations set to color with shadows.
I'll add it to my to do list. Here are some old blog posts that'll be helpful: blog.graphisoftus.com/tips-and-tricks/order-of-operations-managing-graphic-override-combinations blog.graphisoftus.com/value-of-bim/order-and-complexity-managing-graphic-override-rules-and-combinations
Weird. Some troubleshooting options: check for Graphic Overrides that might be negating the color. Check your Model View Options. Try to get color showing in a clean file. Create a new file from the default template and follow the steps using that. If none of that solves it, try posting here: archicad-talk.graphisoft.com and outlining every step you take with images. Or just record a video. I'm guessing it's just some minor thing you are missing.
Make sure your ARCHICAD is updated to the latest hotfix. Perhaps reach out to your local reseller that you purchased ARCHICAD from and see if there's someone local who can offer you assistance. Much like the other issue, if following the steps doesn't solve the problem there might be something bigger going on. Or something very minor that just needs someone to look at.
Thank you so much.... You're precise and straight to the point!!!!
That really helped Thank you so much
Amazing tutorial thanks
Thanks!

Can we display textures on elevations?
Yes. You can turn on vectorial hatching. If you want the textures of the building materials you need to use a 3D window/rendered view.
OMG !!! THANK YOU SO MUCH ...
Coloring the elevation does not work in my case . Can you help?
Can you provide more information. What version of ARCHICAD are you using? Have you followed the steps in the video and not gotten the same results?
yes actually , I have tried every step . it is not working . I am using archiCAD 20 .

I suggest you contact Tech Support or post your question/search for the answer on the ARCHICAD-Talk forum: archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/
and how to hatch the elevation?
For uncut elements, make sure Vectorial 3D Hatching is checked (see 1:50 in the video for where that option is).
unfortunately , it is still not working for me
:(
