This team was downright frightening. Sooooo much talent, and so well coached. I hadn't realized until watching this what a force Ramonce Taylor was. To me, that backfield was all about Charles (which is true), but Taylor averaged almost as many yards per play from scrimmage as Charles did (but still fewer total overall) and had more touchdowns than Charles. Selvin Young and Henry Melton played their roles brilliantly too. Just a scary, scary team.
Vince Young was pretty decent too.

Crazy to think ABC Sports had Keith Jackson Brent Musburger Brad Nessler Ron Franklin and Mike Tirico hell of a lineup

I always wondered what if Adrian Peterson stayed in his home state and joined this Texas team.

2009 and 2023 were pretty good too though at least. Maybe 2024 will go all the way

Any Texas peeps, what happened to Ramonce Taylor? He looks like a future superstar in these clips, but I don't think he played after 2005

He was arrested on marijuana charges in May 2006 and was cut for academic and legal troubles.

I cant believe none of these guys on Offense did anything in the NFL except for Vince and of course Jamal Charles. I thought Sweed, Thomas, Selvin Young, and Ramonce Taylor, would all be stars in the NFL.

Thomas had a respectable career as a TE2, and Selvin would've been a longtime RB1 if not for the career-ending neck injury in his sophomore season. He was an absolute steal as a UDFA, 5.1 career YPC. Ramonce had all the talent in the world but did himself no favors unfortunately.
Sweed is the real head-scratcher of the bunch, best guess is that he just couldn't attain the level of strength needed to block NFL DBs, even though he was a solid blocker in college. Maybe just one of those guys who happened to be at his athletic ceiling when he got drafted. IIRC he had some ugly drops that soured the Steelers on him, but the fact that a guy with his profile didn't get a meaningful chance elsewhere suggests blocking was the issue-when it's time to cut the roster down with crowded positions like WR, coaches are looking for any reason to cut a guy, and blocking's a big one.
The OL definitely shined in the NFL though. Scott and especially Sendlein & Blalock all had lengthy careers as starters, IIRC they combined for 300+ starts in the NFL.

Sendlein was Kurt Warners center. Good Cardinal career.
Brian Robison played 10 years for the Vikings. Another solid player
Aaron Ross had a short but awesome career. 2 super bowls as a starter
Obviously Orakpo. Heck, Tony Hills was in the league for a decade and got a SB. That’s the thing about this team is everyone remembers Vince but you look at the defense and line and it pumped out quite a few players with long careers

This weekend we will see if Ewers is really good and if Texas is back. So many people underestimate how powerful Texas really is.

Two more games to go, and Ewers puts his name right up there with Vince in having a natty. Fingers crossed.
