Not completely fair but far from being the reason Gilas gilas loss. The coach is archaic, junmar didn't look 100%, pogoy and Rosario drained by the just concluded PBA finals series. No disrespect meant but barocca is past his prime and offers very little to none at all, and a player who's not seen competitive basketball for 18 months like Ravena have no business playing in the world cup. Bollick and perez have proven to be the best players on the team outside of blatche yet barocca still started. Also, we've already seen the best of gabe Norwood. Really, with the little prep time, we should have just used this world cup to prepare for 2023. Kai sotto, dave ildefonso, remy Martin and paras should have played with bollick and perez in this world cup. Unfortunately, we'll be mostly world cup rookies again in 2023
The brawl with Australia gave Gilas a reputation for roughhousing. That’s why we don’t get the benefit of the doubt in 50/50 and let-go situations. Add to that our habit of playing defense with our hands rather than with our feet.
so the team can't play straight defense, help defense, can't defend the perimeter, can't rotate on defense, can't defend a pick and roll, can't shoot 3's, can't tell which is a bad shot good shot and a great shot, can't do motion offense, can't read the defense, the coaches can't do in game adjustments, can't do a good rotation, AND CAN'T WIN A SINGLE GAME!!! WTF?!!! WHY ARE WE IN THE FIBA WORLD CUP?!!! WHAT ARE WE DOING THERE?
how much minutes did perez and bolick played. clearly, these two were better than ravena but ravena got more minutes than the two. very controversial rotation coach yeng made
It seems FIBA refs are now more adept at spotting underhanded defensive tactics. Local league officiating may allow it (or even encourage it, since gate receipt and tv ratings play into the bottom line equation). I think Blatche made a rage quit in the end. I don’t think it’s about frustration over officiating, but frustration over our utter inability to play right.
A lot of times, FIBA refs are questionable. Back in 2015 against Kuwait, they never called the FLAGRANT foul against the Kuwaiti player who deliberately hit De Ocampo in the balls and when RDO retaliated with an elbow, they didn't call it either. That's very low-quality officiating. FIBA refs can be shittier than PBA refs. FIBA refs also don't call a lot of traveling and 3 second violations.
How did you rate the officiating in the Gilas-Iran game? Does the Philippines have a legitimate complaint?

excellent catches and analysis. I guess I can feel the desperation of both teams wanting and needing to win leading to bad fouls
Hi bro eric, do you still lift weights?? Youre my inspiration for my body building

The complaint wasn't really the fouls called on gilas but the fouls not called on Iran.
